GZW004
When I hit the button for instance for switching from the patch to the stompboxes overview the sound drops to approx. 50%. Is there something wrong with the switches?
silverhead
What Helix device are you using? If you are using the MODE switch (e.g. top right on Helix Floor) to navigate between Preset mode and STOMP mode there should be no change in the sound/volume. If there is you could try, in order: a factory reset; reinstalling the firmware; opening a support ticket. Make sure you create a system backup first. Schmalle
Is this patch specific or general (across all presets) behavior?
GZW004
It's general......

I made a backup, do I have to do a complete factory reset?
silverhead
That would be best. You can restore selectively from your backup if you wish. In particular the reset will give you the latest factory setlists; you could leave them in place during the restore, at least until you have a chance to back those setlists up individually before overwriting them. GZW004
Pfffff sounds tricky; never done this before. I don't want to loose my presets.... Is there a good manual for doing the factory reset and restoring my presets?

Is there a good manual for doing the factory reset and restoring my presets? Hi, It’s not tricky - it’s quite straight forward, and as for a manual, open HX Edit and click on the “question mark” icon in the lower left corner of the GUI window. From there you can select the HX Edit Pilot’s Guide v3.70 and on Page 27 is the info required for making a full backup, and restore, of all your stuff. Once you have a backup you should turn off your Helix, then while you turn the power on again, hold down FS5 & 12 until you see the boot screen. This will clear all the setlists and IRs, and return the system settings to the default. When this completes you can reload everything from your backup file, and restart the Helix. On rebooting the Helix should perform a normal “housekeeping” routine, where you will see “Rebuilding Presets” displayed on screen - it may take a couple of minutes, but all your old presets will have been upgraded to the latest format. You can find a full list of all the reset options for your Helix, here:- https://helixhelp.com/tips-and-guides/universal/reset-options Hope this helps/makes sense.

A firmware update replaces your current firmware with new firmware, so in that sense yes you will lose your current firmware. But you’ll have new and improved firmware instead. You won’t lose any presets or settings as long as you have your system backup, which is a mandatory part of the update procedure. The automated update process forces you to create this backup before it installs the update. Optionally you could choose to simply reinstall your current firmware version. That might fix your issue but why not get the latest firmware?

The Factory Reset put it back to the default settings of whatever firmware was already installed. Anyhow, you really should be running the latest and greatest version of the firmware (currently v.3.71), as it always contains enhancements and bug fixes for the Helix Core System. Of course should you ever feel the need to revert back to an earlier version, then the older versions are still available from the Line 6 Download area. Note: you will also need the matching version of HX Edit to go with your retrograde firmware, and any presets that you have created in the new versions are not backwardly compatible. Hope this helps/makes sense.
