Varco
The HX One manual states that if only the L/Mono output is connected, the audio output will be folded to mono. This doesn't seem to be the case on my HX One. Only the left output is passed through when two inputs are connected. I can demonstrate this by plugging two different instruments into the L and R inputs and a single cable from the L/Mono out. The instrument in the right channel doesn't come through the mono output as you'd expect if it was being folded to mono. Is this just me? Is there a setting I'm missing? silverhead
You may be missing this, also in the manual: NOTE: By default, HX One is configured for stereo or mono operation—connecting cables to both IN or OUT jacks provides stereo, or connecting to only the IN or OUT–L/MONO jacks provides mono….. This statement implies that using both inputs creates stereo operation which defeats the blended-mono L/MONO output. The Note goes on to offer other options.
theElevators
On the Helix, there was a bug for a long time, where you need to temporarily plug something into the right, then unplug, and only then left/mono is actually mono. Give that a try. (I'm not a HX One owner).

I did see that, although I read that paragraph as focused more on stereo vs insert mode rather than stereo vs mono operation. And if you follow its lead to the Settings View section of the manual, the text on I/O config goes on to say "Note that if no cable is connected to the OUT - RIGHT jack, your HX One output is folded to mono." But supposing you are correct that stereo operation defeats the blended-mono output, I'm confused why they'd be mentioning folding to mono at all (which shows up three separate times in the manual). By nature, we'd need to be in stereo operation to have anything to fold to mono. If there's only one input connected, we're already in mono. Admittedly, nobody would probably ever use stereo inputs with a mono output except in the case I mentioned above with two different instruments - which is exactly what I was hoping to do. I think I'll open a support ticket and see what they say.
silverhead
I agree. The manual is ambiguous at best in this regard. Please let us know the result of your support ticket.

Hi, It states on page 6 of the HX One Owner’s Manual that the LEFT/RIGHT inputs are to be used with stereo input from external stereo devices. Nowhere does it indicate that you can connect two separate mono instruments or pedals. quote: “Connect stereo pedals, keyboards, synths, or modelers to both the L/MONO and RIGHT inputs” It would appear that if you connect, for example a stereo keyboard to the inputs, BUT only have the option of a single output, then the full stereo signal path will be collapsed (folded) to Mono. If you have the option of a second output (to a mixer) you will maintain the stereo signal path. Dunno, seem pretty clear to me. Hope this helps/makes sense. The HX One can't detect what's at the other end of the audio cables to know if it's connected to a single stereo device or two mono devices.
