How does the future support for the Helix Floor look?

Hello Line6 and dear community,
many of us watched the livestream and saw the UFO they’re calling the Helix Stadium. It’s clear that, after 10 years, new hardware needs to be released. But I’m not here to talk about the new Helix — I want to talk about the current (or maybe now “old”) Helix Floor.

I have a few questions that I hope Line6 will be able to answer. But first, I want to say that I love my Helix and consider the years of support a shining example of great product maintenance. Now for the questions:

  1. Will there be further updates?
Will our beloved Helix continue to receive new effects and amps? For example, a slicer is still missing. Will earlier amps be brought up to the quality level of the later ones?

  2. If there is another update — will it be the final one, or can we expect further additions in the future?
(Even if they come in longer intervals than before.)

  3. Will there be a VST plugin for Stadium?
Will this plugin replace the current Helix VST, or is it going to be an entirely new offering?

  4. When can we expect support for the Helix Floor to be discontinued?
Has this already been decided? Are you able to speak about it yet? Or is there currently no plan to end support?

Lastly, I just want to say that I’ve always been satisfied with both my Helix Floor and my Pod Go. Thank you for many years of musical joy!

This is a user-to-user support site. Nobody from L6 hangs out here.

If you watched the Livestream then you heard DI say that Helix will NOT be discontinued. It will remain in the line at a lower price and continue to receive updates AND new features. How long that will last is anybody's guess, but considering the above and the price gap between the Helix and Stadium models, it sounds like they expect continued sales. Plus, I expect that they'll sell boatloads of the Stadiums (already told my SW Rep to put me down for an XL) and that should allow them to hire enough people to support both platforms. I expect that a VST version will be along in due time, as DSP was never an issue in that environment, and it's certainly been a selling point for Helix.

I'm betting that the new profiling system will blow everything else out of the water! I've got nothing to profile, but the market for pro-made captures will no doubt be HUGE! Everybody is going to want in on that!

Thank you. I hadn't realized that the Helix was going to receive additional features and updates — I only noticed the price reduction.

That Stadium will likely be a fantastic effects unit is beyond question for me. However, not everyone will immediately have the money to make the switch and will continue to use the Helix Floor. That’s definitely the case for me.

I contacted my SW rep as well.  Pins & needles moment! ;-)

I'm guessing you meant a VST version of the "OS" the Stadium is operating on right? Since there is the Helix Native VST/AAX plugin already?

According to a recent YouTube video from WT TONE, Line 6's Eric Klein has said that the engine updates have us on Helix 3 by now. Old presets will sound as as they was before, but if you exchange the amp in an old preset with a new one and then change it back again, then the new engine will drive the amp.

As far as I understand, old Helix presets are supposed to work with Stadium. However, what that means for the Helix Floor wasn’t addressed. Unless I’m misunderstanding you.

EDIT: I didn't know that you can link a video via text in this forum. I'm watching it atm and maybe this clears things up for me.

EDIT 2: Now I get it! Okay, that makes my question about the qualitative improvement of earlier amps obsolete. Thank you very much for pointing that out!

It looks to me (personal conjecture, not based on talking about this with Line 6) that Stadium expands the Helix line. I don't see it as a replacement. Helix is pretty awesome as is, and some people won't need the live performance features folded into Stadium. With lower prices, I suspect that the original Helix line of products will keep going for quite a while.
