Questions on IR loading.

I have a few questions on IR loading if any of you dont mind answering.

#1 . I have a whole bunch of Tone Junkie Ir's .I see some IR's that I am unable to load into Helix. The format is .txp .I think they are amp+cab Ir's.Does anyone know what they are or how to load them into Helix?

#2 Also when Ir's are missing,I get an error message which says something like path 2a. I guess it is the location of where the IR was supposed to be but I cant figure out where to load it in the path.Any help on that would be appreciated.

# 3 Does anyone know the abbreviations used on Tone Junkie's IRs ,like M X H etc?

#4 On some Ir's the sample rate is given.Which one do I choose?

1 - that is not an IR, that is a ToneX Preset.

2 - import the missing IR into the IR List (using HX Edit) or go to the IR Block and load an IR that's already in the list.

3 - to load into any L6 device it requires a .wav extension. No clue what their othe extensions are, ask them.

4 - IIRC, whichever one you choose, Helix will convert it to the correct format. Usually it's 48k.

Hi,

Simple solution for you - load up HX Edit and then click on the “Question Mark” icon in the lower left of the GUI window. From the “pop up” menu, select Pilot’s Guide, this will then download a pdf of the guide to your computer. Open the pdf file and on page 16 you will find all the documentation regarding IRs that you may require.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

Unfortunately, unless you *know by yourself* which IR is needed for any patch (in that case you just drag it into your unit and reload the patch), there's absolutely no way to restore the patch properly, simply because HX Edit won't even tell you the name of the missing IR so you could possibly search for it, let alone provide a search option on its own.

That's something really winding me up since years by now (and it's been even worse before some update - the missing IR even had to be in the correct slot, which made any IR management completely impossible). HX Edit isn't any more complexed than, say, a software sampler. And in case these are missing an audiofile, you get the name of the missing file a search dialog. Software file organisation 101, really.

Thanks for the response.Yes IR's are probably the downside of the current Helix model.I'm even having trouble with Helix Native importing & exporting IR's.When I export an IR bundle from Native, the IR files reorders itself alphabetically & now when importing it back the path is missing!

Fortunately, that's irrelevant since some FW revisions back. The only thing a patch needs is the IR to be present on your device. And in case you're using more than 128 IRs, you better keep track of them manually.

Hi, again,

At the risk of stating the obvious once more -

Here’s another simple solution for you - load up HX Native and then click on the “Question Mark” icon in the lower left of the GUI window. The easiest solution: Don't use IRs unless you *really* have to. For me, following that guideline, meant ending up with exactly 2 cab IRs (which are my main live IRs) and 3 IRs to enhance both my nylon and steel string acoustics.

For anything else I'm using the internal cabs, which actually are excellent since their last major revision. I could possibly even get away without my live IRs, but I have tweaked them in a way that, at least for me, they're working incredibly well regardless of the musical and/or technical environment.
