mtnman82
Has anyone heard if Line 6 will be bringing Focus View to HX Edit? Would be really cool for the folks who can't step up to Stadium yet...
SaschaFranck
If they will do it, it'll be tied to the Stadium Hardware.
Digital_Igloo
Focus view will appear in the Helix Stadium app, but not in HX Edit.
mtnman82
Seems like it would be a straightforward thing to add to HX Edit for the established Helix user base. Would be a GREAT tool for the non-Stadium users, and I think this feature alone would pull customers away from the other modeler/effects at that price point. Seems like it would be a good business move...

However, I think you could do "faux focus" by using an X-Y MIDI controller to link to selected preset parameters via MIDI control. But because there's no universal "focus protocol" for Helix, I assume you'd need to come up with custom mappings for each preset. I assume something like the Korg nanoPAD2 would do the job for blending two parameters (assigned to the X and Y axes). Again, though, this is speculation/guesswork. FWIW Studio One FX Chains have a virtual X-Y controller. I might steal be inspired by the focus concept to apply the X-Y controller to Helix Native instances in the FX Chain. mtnman82
Helix already does include the hooks for focus functionality - we can make amp adjustments on Helix thru Edit presently. My understanding is that Focus View is available for all amps on Stadium, not just Agoura amps? If this is true mapping each corner to amp setting is already done, just a matter of implementing a GUI on Helix Edit. I see other modeler companies implementing this concept too, thinking Line 6 might have to do it at some point to keep up with the Jones'. Would like to see Line 6 leading the pack with Helix too, along with Stadium.

mtnman82
OK - so Stadium will only have the 22 Agoura amp models at launch. I thought Stadium included the 22 Agoura models plus all the amps from Helix. This being the case, yep it would be some work. But at the same time think other modelers will jump on this bandwagon... The latter is correct. Anything currently included in the HX line will be included in the new Stadium line, minus one exception, namely the old dual cabs. Any when you think about it, it's the only way things make sense, otherwise the new hardware couldn't load your old patches.
silverhead
Sorry - my bad.
mtnman82
Well then - back to my original thought... If all legacy amp models are indeed included in Stadium and the legacy amps are set up to use Focus View, it would be very simple to add that functionality to HX Edit. Hoping Line 6 hears this... There are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). In this case. You got lucky - see the reply from “Digital_Igloo” in the earlier post above. Note: DI is actually Eric Klein, Chief Product Design Architect at Line 6. He is the man who knows, and he says it will not be in HX Edit, only in the Stadium app. Hope this helps/makes sense.

IIRC, Eric Klein said that focus view wouldn't even be in whatever new versions of HX Stadium Edit. I might remember wrong, though, but I think it's kinda plausible because a lot of that is about tactile experience.

But that's not HX Edit - and it's offering the same (or similar) tactile experience, whereas HX Edit won't.
