gitarrist8
I don´t know, maybe I am just having a different workflow but I do not get why the Snapshot control is deactivated for all parameters by default. I am always forgetting to explicitely activate it and I have afterwards to mess around with finding the old value.
silverhead
A couple of reasons come to mind... 1. Not everybody uses Snapshots. It could cause a lot of confusion for those people. They're meant to be used intentionally. 2. In the original Helix there was a limit of 64 parameters that could be controlled by Snapshots. I'm not sure whether that (or another) limitation exists in Helix Stadium but if it does it could quickly be reached. Again this could cause much confusion for people wondering why their Snapshot parameters suddenly don't seem to be working in a given preset but are working in other presets. But many users might prefer what you're suggesting. tmlambert
I would wager most people don't want that. If you want the same parameters from snapshot to snapshot, you would have to manually change every single parameter to match. For instance, on my main worship preset, I have a very subtle chorus, EQ, and two compressors that are always on at the same settings. I would be extremely annoyed building out a preset that I had to manually enter the same parameters for 4 different effects across 8 snapshots. Perhaps a setting could be added to enable/disable that functionality.
gbr13697
The presets I imported from my old Helix were badly affected by the bug that caused snapshot control assignments to be added where they were not previously present. Snapshot control was applied to all parameters in addition to the expression pedal control that was already present. There were up to 24 unwanted snapshot assignments in each of 50 presets. It tooks hours of tedious work to clear them all. The thought of snapshot control assignments being assigned to everything by default horrifies me! I use snapshots and for the FX blocks that I do not want touched by snapshots I make sure they are not controlled by the snapshot which is a per FX block setting. That way they stay at the same settings from snapshot to snapshot. As I get more comfortable with Showcase I am anticipating using fewer snapshots and preset linking. I have yet to hit the snapshot control limit silverhead has spoken of. I am only slightly concerned by that how it could affect DSP usage and preset stability since I have way more control than I had with the Helix Floor. jpd
