tmingle
Has anyone had success using 4cm with the HT-5? I cant seem to get rid of the noise without choking the guitar signal. I tried several of the methods described in earlier threads, with very little success. Does anyone have a patch for this? Am I wasting my time? bjnette
The HT models (Valve amps) I am familiar with didn't have a pre amp out or FX return. Not sure if there is a reverb input either. If non FX loop then clean input from one of the 1/4 in output. Like that you might just want to run some pedal type HD500 FX. Just noticed the title so it is a 5watt valve/tube amp we're talking about. These make great little studio recording amps as you can crank without them being too loud, but they do get plenty loud and you need to quieten your room a bit. But the HD500 you can use the FX to get some cleaner distortion and lower the volume a bit which helps. Also make sure you try the output mode page from STUDIO DIRECT to combo. Make sure you lower the high shelf and the focus down to about 200-400hz there abouts or you'll get a harsh treble coming out,Keep the low shelf as is. You also have a amp line toggle switch near the foot controller to set first
BillBee
I've heard its a pretty sweet combo but it does have the hiss you were talking about. http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/83929 That thread had some pretty good ideas. I've ran a few MFX into a Kustom Defender 5w (no loop) and 1x12 cab and yep it can sound pretty sweet pushing those tubes. -B Edit -> forgot to add: in the FX loop is where you should use the mods and delays with the Hd if you are using the amps drive channels. dbagchee
I have the HT-5 and use the same setting I posted in this other thread - works fine for me, if I remember correctly I keep the loop at -10: http://line6.com/support/topic/9873-is-this-how-you-would-wire-this-up-and-4cm-trouble-shooting/
rd2rk
Using an HT-5C, 4cm, no noise problems. Using the HD's pre-only amps straight to the HT-5C power amp sounds like crap, harsh, hissy. Using the full amps, with or without (HD) cab sims sounds great. Using the Blackstar's pre's with 4cm and effects only also sounds great. Using any of the HD's overdrives with the Blackstar's OD channel more than barely cracked sounds terrible, but might be I just need to spend some more time dialing it in. All the HD's OD's sound good on the clean channel. So far, I prefer the studio direct setting to the combo setting, but that might be the setting I need to make the pre-only HD amps sound right. Not enough hours in the day for all the possibilities, I wind up getting distracted by playing the guitar....

tmingle
Best results so far are: HT5 clean channel. Drive, distortion and compressors before loop. The best for me are the boost comp, L6 drive and L^ dist. with the out levels set around 80%. FX loop set 0db in, 6db out delays etc after the loop mixer at end of chain with path A centered and path B panned right and muted. Path A level is set to taste, as it changes the tone some.
