  1. It's not high pitched at all, it's like a rumbling, crackling sound. It's not consistent either. It's always there but, I'm not sure how to explain it. Not the typical ground hum. I have 2 usb ports on the front of my computer. Three ports on the back and 3 on my new ASROCK motherboard. They all have it. I'm stumped.
  2. HI All When I plug my usb into my computer to use HX edit. The ground loop/hum is tremendously loud. I literally have my master output at the end of my block maxxed out just to compensate for it. And it's almost even. I should not have to resort to using the knobs on the actual device to do all my editing copying and pasting and changing parameters but right now I have no choice. As soon as I plug my USB cable into my HX Stomp which is plugged into my mixing board, the ground loop and or ground hum ( I don't even know what you call it ) is soooo loud, it's louder than my acoustic guitar which is fine once I unplug the USB cable. So this is what I have tried. I have used 2 different computers Various usb cable Various outlets Ground lifts, Nothing works Any ideas. Thanks All
  3. Hey surfsup, thanks for this, what IR are you using ?

Just set up my K&K Trinity. Wow big improvement from the PIEZO no doubt!!! The pure mini pickup is sooooo much better than the Piezo by itself. The mic is just an added bonus. I would be satisfied with the pure mini on its own.

      Hey Gerry,

Sorry I did not see these posts, you should probably use the forum to communicate because I am not notified of these direct posts to my profile until I visit the forum.  However I am notified (as is everyone else) when you respond to a forum thread discussion.

Regarding your USB issue, I am not sure I even understand what is happening per your description.  Have you started a thread on the forum?

Glad you're liking the K&K system, the 'mini' is the best acoustic pickup in my opinion.  Piezo pickups aren't even in the same league.

  4. Hello there, I have become a master at importing any Helix Patch I want into my HX Native via Pro tools and copying and pasting the exact blocks I want into my stomp via HX Edit. Now that I have 8 blocks there is very little I can't use. In my experience I have found that there are very few patches or presets where more than 8 blocks are being used at the same time. With the Helix, obviously people take advantage of the additional snapshots and load multiple effects, eq's, compressors etc. that are enabled and disabled within the Patch via snapshots but in my case this is never necessary and I can set up the Patch in any way I need to a make it work. If anyone needs help with this I can write it down step by step. So share em' if you got em". Just had a big snowstorm in NY and I will be hunkered down in my studio waiting for my K&K Trinity mic setup to arrive tomorrow, until then I will be practicing away on myTakamine. LOL So please if anyone has got a patch they feel is good for strumming in particular. Please post it my way. Much appreciated!!! I have A question for you Emagli, I have all the 3 Sigma IR's. do you have a patch that you could send me that works with strumming. The issue I have with IR's is I can't mix them in more than 20-25% max. I just hear phasing issues no matter what I try. And thank you DunedinDragon, I saw Jason's Video a few months ago and saved all his settings in my Stomp exactly as he did and I agree, it is one of my best patches and actually I use it on a few tunes. Thanks again all of you,!! Gerry C
  5. Hi Surfsup,

Sorry i missed your reply to my post somehow. I would love to hear your patch, I have the same IR's. Funny you mentioned the K&K pure mini  pickup. I have the K&K Trinity ordered and should have it tomorrow. Great time to take your patch for a spin.

Thank you and sorry for missing this to begin with,  just goes to show you how long I have been fighting with this one.

  7. Hi Peter,
First off thank you for all the help you have given to the acoustic guitarists out here in the terrifying computer age. I have an obstacle I can't seem to work around. I decided to put together an acoustic gig. I have a Takamine G series acoustic (PIEZO pickups), not the greatest guitar but it does sound good enough direct in the P.A. that I figured it would only be better going through an HX Stomp so I got one. It does sound better in all areas but big body strumming guitar. My guitar sound like it's made out of aluminum. Any of the IR's I use or any presets I have downloaded are fine (for the most part) for fingerstyle or single string acoustic songs. My issue is with my strumming sound. I have all the top IR's and have spent more time than I want to admit trying to get that big round sound out of the P.A. To tell you the truth, it's pretty awful. Very hard and quacky. I have been an audio engineer for over 25 years and a guitarist for over 35 and no matter what EQ'ing I try, It sounds horrible through the P.A. I have great P,A, speakers; QSC k.12, Good board; Mackie DL1608. I'm going direct from the acoustic through the Stomp out  stereo into the board. Is there something I am missing somewhere? Thanks for any help or suggestions. I am happy to try anything, Or even if you know what frequency I really need to roll of would be appreciated. Thank you

    Gerry

Couple things I would try first. I would DRASTICALLY lower a pretty narrow band at about 2.6K or 2.7K with a para EQ, I would perhaps do that BEFORE the IR. OR... honestly, it could be a problem with that piezo. Maybe the strings aren't pushing it down enough. I also find that super-low action on acoustics can be a real challenge. Gosh, I hope that helps, but you probably know as much about how to get EQ to do what you want as I know and more.

One more thing... the input has two settings on Stomp. Line and Instrument. Make sure you are set to Instrument, not line.

      Hi Peter,
thanks so much for getting back to me. I have made some headway. I have come to terms with the fact that PIEZO pickups are inherently very quacky when strumming. And I am pretty percussive and that doesn't translate into more bottom on a PIEZO just more quack. So after searching through every IR I had which is just about everything from Sigma and more. the best ones are the ones I downloaded from you. The 109_slope_jumbo and the super_jumbo were best for my guitar at 25%. Anytime I add too much IR mix I seem tp get horrible phasing issues. Does anyone ever use an acoustic IR at 100% ???

To counter the quackiness of the PIEZO I ordered the K&K Sound Trinity Mini PRO Guitar Pickup System.

*I am going to plug my Takamine Piezo to the left input of my stomp (Panned Left)

*I am going to blend the K&K System (Mic and Pickups) to the right

      * I will eq each side to get the desired sound and blend them together into my live board.

Wish me luck but it should work.

  8. Hi , Thank you. I needed to upgrade to 3.01. Then it was good. What a waste of time though. Uggh took me over hour to find out there was an "audio output corruption" and needed to upgrade to 3.01 immediately after the 3.0 install. Thanks, I looked into the Glen Delaune acoustic patches and they are only for Helix, I have a stomp unfortunately. I will keep looking, Thanks again!!
  9. Hopefully someone can help me ASAP. I reluctantly upgraded my HX stomp to the new 3.0 firmware. Now I'm in HX edit setting levels for a gig tomorrow and my master volume output on the block line all the way far right is GONE!! and I can't find it I don't know what happened , can somebody please let me know what happened!! This is ridiculous. Do I have to revert back to 2.8??? UGGGGHHH! Keep restarting , turning unit on and off. I mean Come ON!" G
  10. Thanks so much for getting back so fast. yes I'm very familiar with Glenn D's patches have just about all of them (Excellent), but I never checked out his acoustic patches I'm gonna do that right now. I do agree 100% about the strumming and pick. I have started using a light pick for some acoustic strumming tunes and I find it when you back off the preamp on the acoustic and set it to 75-80% it takes the bite out of it a little. that's all I'm really looking for it has just such a hard midrange sound and I tried with the every eq config you can think of. LOL. I actually close my eyes anymore and start dialing in because common sense just doesn't do it. LOL. Thanks again!
  11. Hi all!. I am in desperate need of finding a Patch or preset or a place I can buy them for strumming acoustic guitar. there are tons of places to shop and presets for single note single picking acoustic guitar and that's never been an issue but I'm trying to find something somewhere. I don't know why but has anyone ever tried IR's on strumming (I have all the 3 Sigma IR's) but from my experience they are meant for fingerstyle, solo acoustic, or single note picking and not for strumming. At least I can't find any. I would appreciate any suggestions thank you so much !!! I have a Takamine G series with PIEZO pickups, not the greatest top of the line guitar, but I have tried top of the line Taylors and no point buying them because they don't sound any better. Another thought I had is does anyone know of a place where I can just send a clean strumming recording clean into Pro Tools with no EQ on the acoustic whatsoever and I could have a Patch made for me for my HX stomp? That would be a great christmas gift I would gladly pay for!! G
  12. EUREKA!!!! Thank you for the advice and recommendations. It turned out you are both 100% correct. Even though I knew it could possibly be a gain issue I never realized the vital step I was missing until I broke it down. What I did was I connected a 1/4" "Y" adapter from my guitar to input 1 on Pro Tools and the other to the left input on my HX Stomp. In Pro Tools had the Helix Native input set to "O" as well as the output. The HX Stomp had no effects whatsoever, just a direct in and out with the input and output set to zero as well. I had both outputs of the Stomp and Pro Tools coming into my mixer (Mackie DL1608) on channel 1 and 2 (respectively) panned left and right. When I record enabled Pro Tools right away I saw the pro tools level was more than double the output level of The Stomp coming into channel 1 left. So I backed off the input gain on my pro tools interface until the Pro Tools output level (channel 2 right) were identical. (Now keep in mind, my input into pro tools is around 50%. Normally I would make it hotter for recording, but that's for later) After re-recording the guitar (without raising the input gain on my interface) , I imported the Stevie Ray Preset Patch again and tweaked it to match Stevie's actual recording of Cold shot (which I got VERY VERY close.) I exported the patch to my Stomp via HX Edit. And it sounds exactly like my patch in HX Native. As for the recording level being lower, if you want (for quality and to get the most out your converters) you can certainly raise the gain input on your pro tools interface you just need to remember to back off (quite a bit) on the input level going into HX Native. I am now in the process of doing the same thing with all my Taylor Acoustic patches for my cover gig and so far everything is working like clockwork and I'm getting exactly the sound I had envisioned from the very beginning. Thank you for reminding me of something I just should have known. I just never thought the difference would be soooo dramatic. In case you wanna hear it, here is the Cold Shot patch (i kept it a little cleaner) If you have a strat, just crank you rhythm pickup. Thanks again. Gerry C Cold Shot 11-14.hlx
  13. Thank you, thats is a great idea. I will try it. !!
  14. Basically I'm plugging my strat direct into Pro Tools recording along with the track after I finish I just Loop it and tweak my levels and my settings. I'm not too worried about my levels but my eqs and amp and cab sounds are crucial. I'm going direct for my Strat into my Pro Tools interface. After I save my preset patch in Native I exported and imported into my a HX Stomp. Pro Tools is going into my mixing board channel 1 and 2 (no eq) directly next to iis my HX Stomp channel 3 and 4 and my stomp is brighter and harder by far than the sound coming thru HX Native.

  16. Hello I am having a dilemma and I really need to get this straightened out once and for all. This is the second time I am submitting the same issue to the line 6 community and hopefully somebody has gone through this and I can put this behind me. There is a HUGE difference (I mean Huge?) between my guitar sound when listen to my guitar in Pro Tools through Helix Native and after I transfer the EXACT file to my HX Stomp This time I was working on a Stevie Ray Patch for Cold Shot. I paid for the best patch I could find. I will list my steps to help you understand where I am at. You can imagine any DAW you like 1. I have finished all the Midi backing tracks in Pro Tools using the best samples and midi files. Sounds Great! 2. I imported the CD file of Cold Shot into Pro Tools. 3. I edited a loop out of Stevies Intro so it repeats. 4. I recorded exactly what Stevie Plays and made a loop out that. 5. I have both loops set to drop out separately in time so I can tweak my Helix settings, EQ, Volume, Chorus everything. ( just so you understand one bar of Stevie one bar of me looping continuously) 6. My guitar sounds almost as good. 7. I save the patch and export to desktop. 8. I import the patch into my HX Edit and copy the patch to my HX Stomp. 9. I can see both my Native and Edit settings on two separate screens. They are IDENTICAL 10. My guitar through the HX Stomp sounds NOTHING like the way it sounds through Pro Tools. 11. Incredibly thin, no bottom....Sounds like GARBAGE. (There is nothing else on the track but the Native Plug-in) There has to be something wrong. I'm am listening through the same speakers My input levels in Pro Tools are not peaking but as hot as they should be. I went through this once before and just gave up, but this time I am determined. I need to know why this is happening. And before anyone suggests that the input levels may be the culprit. Believe me... if you heard these two different guitar sounds you would know it's something else. It's not that patches are different, the blocks are identical, the sound is just night and day. Its awful. There is no way the input level could make this happen. The sound in my Stomp isn't even useable as a joke and I can't figure it out. Has anyone else encountered this IN FACT and figured the issue? If so Please help. Thanks Gerry C
  17. Hey there !!! Does anyone have or know a good link for Stevie Ray: Pride and Joy.

I'm not happy with what I am creating and I know I'm missing somethin'

    Thank!!!

  18. Hello. I have a question regarding I RS. I purchased the Acoustic Essentials from 3 Sigma. and a few other developersI have a Takamine G series acoustic with a Piezo pickup that sounds fine through the board on its own, it's easy to manage but I was hoping for a bigger better sound and thought this may be the answer. I am using the Line 6 Stomp and when I import any of the IR's from these libraries the guitar sound is unusable. Extreme high end. My $1,200 Focal monitors sound like tin cans, no bass whatsoever. Is there a special way to use these IR, presets? I have tried tweaking them endlessly and backing them way off in the mix. it seems I'm spending more time trying to get these I IR's to work before I just give up. I have to be missing something. Can you someone help me with this. I need a good full strumming acoustic preset for an acoustic guitar with a Piezo pickup. Thanks. Please help!
  19. Gotcha !! Glad to hear you say it. Thanks you've been a great help.
  20. OK I got you. So I guess basically what you're saying is after having "New Presets (Blank) from 1 to 126, put my presets back in the order I want them with the IR's in the order I want and and put them in the order I'll be gigging I suppose. It's just that I notice on Helix needed you have the ability of having separate set lists.... set list 1,2...etc. but it looks like HX stomp doesn't allow that it's all from one to 126. OK I guess I can live with that. Thanks.!! I have another question if you don't mind. I'm looking for just some great acoustic guitar presets. With IR's. I have Takamine G series acoustic with piezo pickups. Anything I listen to and I purchased once I get it and I play it through my PA system with my EQ completely zeroed out and my EQ settings on my guitar zeroed out. they presets really sound like crap. Is there a site or preset community I need to look into. is just have an acoustic gig in about 3 weeks and I'm still not thrilled with the sounds I'm getting. Thanks again
  21. Thanks for getting back to me rd2rk. I have started to follow your directions so far I have 1. Export your existing BIG setlist as individual presets (NOT as a setlist). How do I Copy over your existing setlist with "NEW PRESETs". Is there a "New Presets " somewhere I need to use ? If so can't find it. Is there a tutorial somwhere on how to do this ? Thanks for your help Export the NEW PRESETS (BlanK) setlist (to save work later). Import the Presets you want in a setlist. Name it and Export it. Copy over with your Blank setlist.
  22. Hello all. I was wondering if anyone knew if Line 6 was planning on upgrading the HX stomp so it was capable of having individual setlists. I'm using HX native at the moment on Pro Tools to get my sounds all dialed in for setlist for my gigs. And I would much prefer not to have a hundred and twenty-six presets staring at me all the time in HX edit .Is there any way import a setlist into the HX Stomp and only have those presets appear in my HX edit and on my HX Stomp so I only have the songs I need to be dealing with in each setlist. I'm sure all the gigging musicians out there know exactly what I'm talking about thanks GerryCol
  23. OMG !!! Now I see I needed to save it to the library first. Oh my God. what a long frustrating Day LOL. Guess I missed that in the manual
  24. If anyone has Pro Tools and is working with the native plug in HX native. I'm constantly redoing my steps. No matter what I do I tweak the same parameters, delete the same blocks, change my delays change my reverbs I save it in the in Pro Tools the plug in settings then then after it saved and I see it in the folder and I double click on the name again all the presets come back what is going on!!!??? There is something really wacky with the save functions in this HX native and I can't figure it out and I'm tired of going back to the manual. In HX Native when you right click on the preset you are tweaking. you only have these options, copy, paste, rename, import, export, how do I JUST SAVE WHAT I DID or what I am going to do??? Where is the simple save function?????? When I save my settings as a plugin setting the old version just reaapears, when I double click every time, I rename it, and export it ...it comes back When I save file to disk my settings are not being saved, when I reimported all my old settings come back. Obviously this is because I can't find a save function that works anywhere.!!! how do I just simply save what I'm doing so I don't have to keep doing it for the next 3 hours. I don't know what the heck is going on I'm sick of this
