  1. We actually used it with 3x Line6 G90s for two guitars and a bass for a little while. I just ran them all to effects returns set to instrument level and it worked perfectly. You definitely can't get too creative with the effects because of DSP limitations (not really a problem as I'm pretty sure they've never marketed it as "run your whole band through a single device with unlimited effects") but it was definitely do-able. We did eventually split everyone up to their own gear (Firehawk FX for the second guitar and an SVT 7 Pro for bass) so they could have control of their own gear but I imagine if the guitars and bass had a few of their own pedals (assuming you were they were wired) you could definitely make it work.
  2. If you are just wanted to not use Logic for just playing or practicing, you can just run line outs into the line ins on the Apollo. That would be zero latency for playing or recording so it would work in or out of Logic.
  3. I have a similar setup with my Apollo 8 and Helix rack. While you can select a different input and output device in your DAW you won't be able to re-amp over USB because you will need to send and receive via the Helix USB. You can actually create an aggregate device in OS X and use the aggregate device for input and out. It works quite well.
  4. I'm sure I'm missing something here but it sounds like you are asking for what I do pretty often. I own the Taylor 610 and a Gibson (I can't remember which one) set of IRs from http://www.3sigmaaudio.com/ and in the last couple of weeks they've released electric guitar IRs that I'm sure can be used in the same way. Basically, I just create an IR as my first block, load one of the acoustic IRs, and then use the studio pre and I can usually get great results. I've included screenshot and the link is to a simple recording I just made using the first Taylor 610 IR in the set and one of the new offset MiM Fender Mustangs (https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MustMOWT) I realize this isn't the best sounding recording as I was only trying to throw something together quickly (and it's a little noisy. Normally I wouldn't do this with this guitar as the single coils are a little noisy) but I think it sounds pretty decent for zero setup time and the wrong choice of guitar. I do plan on buying their electric IRs to try. Also, I have been a Variax JTV-59, 69, and 89 owner over the years and never really liked how they played. I prefer a fairly low action and the DSP doesn't handle buzz very well at all so they never worked out for me. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2Ful8MHmNUvbmNraUdmejdtbDg/view?usp=sharing
  5. I ended up having to email support and they took care of this. I went through the same thing about a week ago and could never find a way to do it myself.
  6. Wait. I just looked at a rear product picture of the floor unit. Did they remove wordclock from the floor unit?
  7. I just wanted to add that I've been using spdif for recording and monitoring for early a year now and I've never had latency issues. I run my Helux Rack into a UA Apollo 8 via spdif to avoid extra conversion and it works great. Also, you can definitely set your clock sync source in global settings on page 4 of In/Outs. I always have it set to word clock in and have that also connected to the apollo.
  8. I have a Helix rack and Firehawk 1500 and I used it for quite a while as a speaker for the Helix and it worked and sounded great. Although, in the end I did decide to go with just a powered PA speaker as the Firehawk is incredibly heavy and I felt like the sound I was getting out of the PA and Firehawk were pretty similar and for the price, I could get a pair of ZLX-12Ps.

    6, 7 or 8?

I recently upgraded my JBL LSR308s to Adam A7Xs. Before that, I switched between the 308s when at my desk and a pair of ZLX-12Ps for band practice. I thought the 308s were perfect for the helix. Also, how in the hell do I change my forum nick? I've changed my username in my account but that didn't seem to affect the forums.

    Helix stand

I have a Helix Rack and floor controller and I put the floor controller on top of my short rack on this and it's perfect. The angle is also adjustable so it makes it really convenient. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WRDS8H0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  11. That's a very good point that I didn't think about at all.
  12. Is there any way to send XLR out but disable the guitar going directly out through the speakers? I'm currently using the 1500 as a small PA for practicing with friends. I have the main outs coming into a small mixer and a few other instruments. I then run the main out on the mixer into the monitor ins in the amp. Everything works great but I would really like to control the guitars levels at the mixer.
