  1. Hopefully I can get someone at the gig to take some video. We use mainstage with the band but it's a bit overkill for a solo gig. I want to avoid having a MacBook on stage as well. I have to say the iPad and Setlist Maker have worked flawlessly in my tests so far. Hit a blueboard switch brings in the sample immediately.
  2. So i have just finished testing a new setup and have to say I am so delighted i thought i had to share..... I was asked to put together a little one man gig for an event coming up and given a list of songs people would like to hear going from irish traditional to contemporary pop. I wanted it to be more interesting than a guy in the corner strumming on a guitar. I wanted to loop guitar parts and vocals on the fly, use some kind of a foot stomper for beats as well as trigger various samples and beats at different stages in the song as well as have in-ear monitoring. Managed to do all this with the hd500 as the central hub....... in in doing so realised I am a line 6 lollipop :-) anyway my setup is as follows firstly gear - 2 mic's, JTV-69, SonicportVX, hd500, TC Helicon Voicelive Play, L3t, iPad, IK Multimedia Blueboard, Relay G30 1st Mic runs through the Voicelive Play into the HD500 - Mic In I used the second mic to build a foot stomper with an old cigar box and some padding, both of the mics went into the hd500 MicIn using a Y cable Ipad connects to SonicportVX which in turn goes to the FX return of the hd500 (mix set to 50% and it sits at the end of the chain so the signal unaffected. It also gives me greater control over the volume. I found the MP3 input signal to be too weak and actually doesn't sound great) using the FX return block also allows me to turn it off when not in use Variax connects via VDI or a G30 depending I run an app call Setlist Maker which allows you to attach audio to each song in your setlist (as well as lyrics etc) all triggered with the Blueboard. you can have multiple audio files per song if you want. so for one or two songs i have created to drums and bass to kick in at various stages just to make it all interesting the L6 Link to the L3t seemples! the beauty of this setup is because the entire signal chain runs through the HD500 i can use the headphone outs for IEM's anyways thought I would share a use case of the pod being used to its full IO capacity!
  3. Will all be managed through line6 monkey. Hit a checkbox for the pack you want and insert credit card
  4. Correct, depends whats important to you, if you don't need L6 link, dual signal paths etc then fire hawk will be for you.....
  5. It stands for Impulse Response ....... it basically a cab or room emulation in this context
  6. I used to have my MacBook Air connected and in a stand at rehearsal but nowadays I find it just as quick to navigate and tweak on the onboard UI of the 500x. My BIGGEST disappointment in life is that there has yet to be a Variax/Evertune collaboration!!!' Cmoon guys! Imagine a Yahama Variax Pro :-)
  7. OK, so the Yamaha Variax was a no brainer - I wonder if it has the same DSP engine as the JTV's Very Happy to see Model Packs coming to HD series!!!! When i saw the the image for the new g70 and it had Variax on the LCD i got VERY excited!!!! but does not look like we will get wireless variax any time soon Firehawk is very interesting! and a natural progression... fewer IO's than the 500x but looks like it will be the same price point... does it have more DSP? and dual signal chains? QUESTIONS QUESTIONS QUESTION :)
  8. Nicely Played Line6!! combining PodHD and Amplify... and 2.6 firmware with a 5150 ;-) looks good!
  9. OK,,, DI told me,,, its a new Variax with Evertune!!!!! ;) (please!)
  10. Ok DI. PM me you mobile number. I am gonna call you now so you can fill me in the this years product roadmap. I won't tell anyone.
  11. The plot thickens.... "Day 1 and the sunshine state of California is missing the sunshine! Off to Line 6 HQ later today to see 3 new products although disappointingly not the one I was hoping to see - that's been put back to March - can't say any more but I will try and get a sneak peak later!!"
  12. Sounds good!,, Great idea about the battery back as well. I have a 10,000mAh battery pack and will give it a go...
  13. LOL, yeah, true...... this is why I am so intrigued by this NAMM... there has been zero hype this time round and yet I have seen a few post by Line 6 demo guys that they are familiarizing themselves with new gear for this week........... I'm a sucker for marketing antics :)
  14. I actually think Amplifi75 is a great product. It actually made me play more! I had to sell mine to afford a L3t but in a perfect world with more disposable income I would certainly have one of these permanently sitting in my living room.
  15. Is there any difference between the Lin6 brand L6 Link cable and a regular XLR cable?
  16. Man!! If it IS something significant I take my hat off to line 6 for keeping it under wraps. No-one has any idea what it could be. Line6 should give apple a few tips on 'doubling down' on secrecy!
  17. I had the same issue with my hd500x and L3t, I was using a cheap long XLR cable, i swapped cables and it works fine now.
  18. Hi yes i was using the balanced outputs,, send the click(Left) to our in-ears and the Backing(right) to the PA...... where there back was silent you can hear the click bleed as clear as day.
  19. Hey!!! Did no one see the pic I posted? Nothing to say!!??? Daaaayim!!! Looks like there IS a new device coming! Pod HD x3!!!!!! With built in wifi and Bluetooth and cloud tones, quad core A9 chip, hyper resolution, quad signal path?
  20. Oh man!!!! The plot thickens!!!!!!!! (See attached) :-)
  21. This is a very good point,, would hate to see fragmentation. Also... providing the free "v2.1" update is not solely to appease current POD owners (afterall its not a subscription service) but, more importantly to Line 6, to provide an opportunity to remarket to potential new customers,,,,,, A shiny new software update is a relatively inexpensive way to entice tyre kickers and shift the 1000 HD's sitting in warehouses around the world i'd imagine.
  22. Pretty much the same conversation with my wife.. I got off lightly :) My argument is it pays for itself in a couple of gigs.
