I am getting by with A/B tone template and one or two patch changes to trigger Variax models but I am used to the little gap for the 500x days so plan accordingly. The one thing i would love to see included is some kind of Variax effects block that will allow me to trigger a variax model within a patch. Would save having to switch patches at all mid song.

You get get a loadbox like this http://www.thomann.de/gb/koch_amps_dummybox_home.htm Then simply stick your amp into one of the Helix effects loops... the 3CM Effects send into front of amp - Amps Speaker out into the Koch's Speaker in - Kochs Record output into your effects return

Got me helix on Wednesday... its SAVAGE!!! I love it... HD500x is sold. I had heard that Mac OS pops and clicks only affected some macs and was hoping my was the exception... alas........ damn was really looking forward to start recording with it today!!!! Any word on how the Line 6 custom driver is progressing? HMMMMMMM? will it be ready by the end of today? Sunday Maybe? Enquiring minds would like to know!

Hi, I had something very strange happen during a gig last night. JTV connected through VDI to HD500x. I have a patch for acoustic that triggers the acoustic model on the Variax. I engaged it and started playing the song only to realize it was tuned to Eb!!! I swapped patches, swapped ariax and models and even changed the tuning dial but it was suck in Eb...... I played the rest of the set using mags and during i unplugged everything and all went back to normal. Anyone else have this experience before? I check the variax settings on the pod and tunings were not forced so it must have just been the JTV acting up?

I really hope this gets addressed and is not HW issue. Using Helix as an IO with reamping is one of the reasons i bought it (arrives early next week fingers crossed)

If you are looking to get a good sound out of your steel string i would definitely check out the new Acoustic Soundhole pickup/mic from IKMultimedia, looks very promising. If you use that straight into the mic input of the helix it should sound incredible (without the need for IR's). All academic at this stage coz i have neither but it is the route i will be going as soon as helix is available here.

Just a thought while watching a Two Notes Torpedo Live demo. Would be brilliant seeing comparison between the helix amp model and the equivalent real amp through a Two Notes Torpedo. I am seeing a lot more folks using the torpedo to track guitar in studios with huge praise. You are effectively digitally modelling one of the core aspects of playing a real amp and cab mic'd in a room. In this scenario/comparison I think the Helix should hold up extremely well if the IR's are good? Any one out there own a torpedo live and is taking delivery of a helix soon? :)

So my Sonic Port VX got nicked from luggage while traveling. I managed to pick up an original sonic port to tide me over. Is it possible to get this to work with my macbook or is it strictly ios? thanks

Hey silver head yeah thought about that but I would lose the ability to monitor those through the headphone outs.

You could if you ran the her vocals in left path and your guitar in the right. You would only send the right (your guitar) to the desk or amp. The headphone mix would be Vox Left and Guitar Right. If you are happy with that then you are good to go. If (like me) you can't deal with the hard left and right pans in your IEM you get a stereo to mono converter or stereo summing gadget.
