  1. I realize this is an old post but I have just now run into this same problem . the processed USB signals going into my DAW (Logic Pro X) are fine ... but the dry signals coming in on USB 7/8 are almost inaudible . are there separate volume adjustments for the USB outputs ? it seems that no matter what Line 6 product I buy ... they all come with volume issues ... line 6 does not seem to have a standard volume anywhere about anything. every patch or preset or routing option on any line 6 unit is random pot luck where volume is concerned.
  2. OK , thanx ... i'm still on Yosemite right now , but if I run into any latency issues I'll give the driver a spin.
  3. same here , I only record one instrument or vocal at a time my little home studio ... I haven't noticed anything amiss , but just like you said I'm not really doing anything fancy right now . so I guess I'll just leave well enough alone until I run into a problem . I just wasn't sure exactly what issue this driver is supposed to resolve. The release note explains how to implement it ... but is rather vague as to why I would want to or need to.
  4. thanks Phil ... your explanation makes perfect sense ... but for some reason just looking at it ... it wasn't sinking in . cheers -n- beers
  5. just for clarity ... I would like to know if this driver is absolutely necessary for Mac users ... or is it only necessary if you're having USB recording or playback problems.
  6. I have stared at this diagram for literally 20 minutes ... and for the life of me I do not understand the orange arrows . they have Computer inputs inputs going to Helix inputs and Computer outputs routed to Helix outputs doesn't make sense to me ... The red arrow paths make perfect sense .. The orange ones to me seem back-asswords what am I missing here ?
  7. I don't understand why you can't even update the JTV firmware either . makes no sense to have to use Line 6 Updater and Line 6 Monkey and Workbench and two separate dongles ... not to mention a quarter inch jack plug . ya gotta love it
  8. is there anyway I can use my VDI cable and switch between mags and Variax pups. every time I change a preset on the Helix it turns the Vax pups back on. I want to use the Vax pups when I want to ... not when Helix wants me to I would like it so that when I change presets I am in mag pups mode .. until or unless i turn the Vax pups on myself. right now it is the exact opposite ... every time I switch to a different preset it turns the Vax pups back on. there must be some type of global command ... having to change these on an individual basis is ridiculous. i've looked at the input settings ... on the multi-input settings , it gives a per preset or global option ... but it doesn't give me anywhere to select Variax mags as the global setting. yes I'm dazed and confused
  9. that's exactly what I do when I mess something up ... just click off to another preset then back to the one i messed up ... of course it's a total patch reset , not a step-by-step ... but it is a usable work around.
  10. thank you klangmaker ... that is a winner
  11. I don't see where cache or cookies has anything to do with it . the filename is "Helix.1.12.dmg" ... but that's not what is inside it. thanks for the suggestion though ... I really do appreciate it. but I must be taking the wrong path somewhere ... Klangmaker's link works though ... so I'm good.
  12. I just went thru the whole thing again ... and you download a file that says 1.12 .dmg , but when you open it up it is really version 1.04 so where are you guys really getting the 1.12 version
  13. I think I have figured out the problem. I go to the Beta box, it takes me to version 1.12 but when I download it ... it installs version 1.04 ... not version 1.12 the website is linking the wrong download.
  14. I have the latest version of everything ... including today's new 1.04 update ... and all I can get is still the mini version.
  15. I can't figure out how to open up the full Helix Editor. all I get is the narrow strip with the presets and set list options. I see YouTube videos and screenshots all over the web showing a full-blown editor .. even the new email promo for today's new release shows a full editor - what am I doing wrong ? How do I get the full editor like the one pictured below in today's ad I am on 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 (Yosemite) if it matters.
  16. I was merely pointing out the fact that the Helix app is software ... not firmware . that way it is easier to understand why the numbers are different ... the Helix app on your computer is software , updates to the Helix unit itself is firmware
  17. that's exactly what I'm waiting for ... you shouldn't have to drag the Helix over to your computer just to be able to work on arranging patches and set lists
  18. just to clarify ... that would be Helix Device firmware version 1.10 and Helix app/editor software version 1.11
  19. yup .. I had that turned up to 12db ..but no luck i'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with the unit .. it shouldn't be that difficult to get some kind of signal out of that port ... but i am getting absolutely nothing ... not a hiss , not a buzz , not even static or noise. yes my USB works .. but there's no option for unprocessed dry signal like S/PDIF what is your set up .. what unit are you running your coax into ..
  20. okay... I will go try it out thanx
  21. That was an excellent suggestion ....never even occurred to me.. unfortunately it didn't work ... but thanks for the idea .. at least it opened me up to a different thought process.
  22. I am trying to record into logic Pro X .. I would like to record both a wet and a dry track simultaneously .. when I'm writing / recording songs i can usually find a preset or build a patch close to what I think would fit the song I am writing ... but as you know later on when you start adding drums , bass , vocals etc... sometimes the patch you liked doesn't really fit into the mix and you need to go with a slightly different flavor. so I'm shooting for the best of both worlds a patch I think would suffice on one track and then a clean dry signal on the other track that I can re-amp or run through Pod Farm 2or other amp simulation plug-in. but try as I may .. I cannot get the dry S/PDIF Signal out of the Pod HD500x my set up is the Pod HD500x - into M-audio Projectmix I/O -into Logic Pro X on a 2009 Mac Pro running OS X Mavericks. Logic Pro X does not get the S/PDIF signal. the 500x , the Projectmix and Logic are all set to 48K sample rate the 500x S/PDIF output is set to "dry input" The Projectmix S/PDIF clock sync source set to external .. no matter what I do I don't seem to be getting a S/PDIF signal out of the 500x .. I even bought a digital coax to analog converter and ran that straight into a powered speaker .. and still nothing... any suggestions would be appreciated... I suppose a workaround could be to set up 500x patches with a dry left and wet right routing .. and route them to record them on 2 separate tracks .. but I can't even seem to figure out how to do that inside the 500x
  23. my JTV 89f has very low volume output without pod hd500x. just using the regular guitar jack and plugged into an amp the volume is very low . whether I use the mags or the battery-operated Variax mode .. but when I plug into my pod first ... everything seems okay... I don't understand
  24. I have my 89f physically tuned down 1 full step ... the preset alternate tunings seem to adjust to that just fine.. it appears that they orient themselves from wherever you have your guitar mechanically tuned. which is awesome. and that works just fine as long as I'm messing about in my own little world with my own tracks. but in order to play along with anybody else or recordings in standard tuning .. I need to have an alternate tuning that is tuned a whole step back up to standard pitch. which I should be able to do quite easily with the virtual capo. to move back up to standard pitch shouldn't i go to the virtual capo process and play all 6 strings on the 14th ? for some reason I have to go all the way up to the 16th fret to set it to standard pitch.. the nut of the virtual capo seems to be the 14th fret instead of the 12th fret. and just to add insult to injury : it will not recognize more than one note at a time.. I have to go thru the whole save process for each note on each string individually ... instead of playing all six notes and then saving the entire setting. if i do more than one , only the first note saves correctly .. the rest go helter skelter . and no matter what i do there is always a ghost note layered in... each note sounds like 2 notes ( and not harmonically ) I have re-flashed the 2.1 firmware three times ...still the same thing. has anyone else experienced this ... i have not used workbench yet.. because I really haven't had the time to learn it .. and from reading and watching some videos ... it seems that i shouldn't need workbench just to use the virtual capo . any ideas ?
