My band is doing Elton John's "Rocket Man". There are big slide effects here and there throughout the song that I want to emulate on my Helix Floor. I've got the Poly Pitch sounding great. It is set up to do a 4-beat octave slide-up at the touch of a momentary stomp button. I've got a few more quicker ones that go down. All bring up the reverb. So far so good. Now I want to add an automated semi-fade out that happens at the same time, over those same 4 beats. I'm not finding any way to reduce the volume over time. I'm thinking that there has to be something hidden in an effect somewhere. Any ideas?

OP Here - I went back and reinstalled 3.15 to see if it fixed the problem with the Digital Level Out knob. It did not help, so maybe this feature has been "broken" for a while.

I followed the backup and restore procedure. In fact, the Digital Level Out value was displaying the value I had before the update. Now that control knob is having zero effect on the level at all, even though the displayed value is changing. When I tested the update, I used the 1/4" out plug into a bedroom amp, not realizing that I need to test every port on the back of the Helix! Yes, my bad.

Of course I discovered this at a gig this past weekend... The Digital Level Out setting is at Global Settings -> Ins/Outs -> Page 3. Changing this value is doing nothing to affect the output into my Powercab 212plus. It used to work. I had it set to +15db for gigging and now I assume its giving me 0db. :( Is anyone else seeing this same behavior?

Greetings Thrill Seekers (with a tip of the hat to TE) My MusicMan guitar has a stereo output with one channel sending the mag pickups and the other sending the piezo pickup. Switching lets you send one or both signals. I have set up a preset so that the mags are coming into the Guitar input on 1A and the piezo is coming in the Aux input on 2A. Both chains go out as Digital using the L6 Link to my new PC 212+. It's great to be able to go from acoustic to searing lead tones with just a flip of a guitar toggle switch and nothing else. What I would like to do is send the mag tones to the PC's #1 amp and Vintage speaker, and the piezo tones to the #2 amp and FRFR speaker. Seems simple enough, however I can't get the Helix to accept two different PC settings at the same time. For instance, when I set the one first digital output block and speaker #1 to vintage, and then set then set the second output block to FRFR, the setting for the top block gets written over and I have two FRFR channels. This seems to be the case with both Helix Edit and the Helix device itself. Helix 2.80.0 PC 2.00.1 I feel like I must be doing something wrong since the 212+ is advertised as having a dual mode where you can split outputs like I want. I imagine there are MIDI-based workarounds but I don't want to go there yet. Is there something I need to set up on the PC? Any help would be appreciated! Mike

I have been using my Helix Floor as an audio interface for Cubase. It generally works great. The Cubase stereo tracks come into the Hx via USB 1/2 and I use the XLR outs to feed my active studio monitor. I can send the guitar output of my Presets to USB 5/6 and the Mic input to USB 3/4. It even lets me reamp by sending a dry guitar part back into the Hx via USB 7. So far, so good. Yesterday my PowerCab 212+ showed up. I'm feeding the PowerCab via the L6 Link using an ordinary XLR cable. Sounds great - I LOVE this amp. But all is not good in paradise: The Cubase tracks coming into the Hx are feeding my active monitors via the XLRs as usual, and now also playing (very loudly) on the PowerCab via the L6 Link. Cubase is just sending tracks via ASIO Helix and USB 1/2. It doesn't see hardware past that, so I can't "switch off" the PowerCab from the DAW Does anyone have advice on how to change the routing so that the PowerCab doesn't see the DAW? Or maybe know how to configure the L6 Link port? Thanks mucho in advance, Mike

Jon -- This past week, my PC had whole bunch of problems with drivers and the updater. Everything was installed, but neither the Helix app or my DAW could see the Helix. I spent two evenings trying to diagnose the problem. I finally uninstalled everything from Line 6 and used the Ccleaner utility to clean up the registry. Lastly I rebooted the machine. Voila! That did the trick. Apparently, there was old Helix data in the registry that kept the installers from working properly. Good luck! ***** UPDATE ***** Man oh man - that was an educational experience! I've made adjustments to the volume levels to all 60+ patches I've downloaded from CustomTone so far. To get an objective look at the levels, I used a USB connection between the Helix my PC and the Reaper multitrack application. (BTW Reaper is available as a free trial and well worth the download, if just for this purpose, and if you haven't plugged your Helix into a PC, do it immediately. It's a breeze.) I made the adjustments on the output block (sometimes 2 output blocks). It was easy to strum the guitar with one hand, keep an eye on the Reaper input level and change the output block's Level setting with the other hand. You can also see the Pan setting while you're there and adjust it if needed. For some reason, a handful of the patches have this setting off center when there didn't seem to be a reason for it. (At least one patch had one amp and cabinet panned all the way left and the other amp and cabinet panned hard right. I let that one alone.) The CustomTone patches definitely needed some tweaks. About a third had factory-level settings. Another third had to be tweaked up or down within 6db (not bad, but not insignificant). The final third were way out there. Some had to be brought up 20db. Others had to come down 20db. Wow. This took about an hour and a half, but I feel like a have a much better (and usable) set of patches. The next step -- which is seemingly overwhelming -- is to go in and check the internal volume levels. I noticed that some patches had pedals (e.g. distortion) set ON as the default, and when you stomped its footswitch to deactiveate it, the clean tone was ~6 decibels too high or too low. :( Maybe the patch "divisors" out there can double check that their levels are similar to the factory patches before they upload. The patches all sound great listening to them one at a time, but as part of a collection they really should be relatively uniform in volume. I KNOW I'LL GET SOME FLACK FOR POSTING THIS . :( I'm trying not to be critical as I talk about adjusting the patches. I really appreciate every patch I've downloaded and wish I had the knowledge to devise something good enough to share! I'll work on it. Peace, love and hippy-$#!T, Mike in Maryland

Hey All, I'm really digging my month-old Helix and have enjoyed experimenting with the plentiful Helix CustomTone patches. As you you soon discover with the patches, the audio input vs output levels are all over the place, which makes them difficult to use right out of the box in band practice and performance. I;d like to tweak them to get them all into some usable range, but I need a plan. Does anyone have a good strategy for normalizing the volume of the patches - bring them to a relatively equal level? Is "unity gain" a good starting point for determining an output volume? It seems clear to me that some patches will warrant higher gain to get the desired effect. Is there a technical standard somewhere? Should tweaking be done before the amps and cabs or after? So many questions! Mike in Maryland
