Set guitar impedance on auto for start. Are you running 1/4 to your powered speaker or xlr? Other will chime in, mine sounded bad at 1st also but with a few settings changes it sounds really good
-
I'm not complaining though, this is way better than the hd500 I had and the boss gt10 and gt100.
-
Did y'all really ask people about the touch screen option, and wow they turned it down? It's not a deal breaker but every time I play it I keep touching the screen like I would my phone, iPad, double din pioneer radio in my truck, or my Asus pc. Seems the helix is the newest tech I have that reminds me of tech from 2000-2010.
-
line 6 knocked this helix out of the park, but if it had a touch screen it would have knocked it out of the earth's gravitational field. I have had a lot of line 6 devices and this is the 1st one I've really liked. Maybe the only people to take that poll on touch screen was the Roland/ Boss employees and they want that one for the next boss gt1000 or what ever it's going to be called. On the other hand unless Boss foresaw the coming of the helix, it may take them awhile to put a product out.

Let's start off by the sounds I can get. Can I get gain? Lots of different gains and distortion that responds like a tube amp? Yes!! Can the helix sound and act like my dual rec's gain channels? Yes! Does the Roland 120 sound great? Yes pretty much. Can I get the Vox chime? No Can I get the fender clean sound? No I may need tips on settings for the clean sounds, the Roland is pretty good but I have not yet got the cleans that I want off the vox or fender, I could use some tips on the divided by 13 also. Thx for any help!

I am running a Engl power tube amp 2x50 and its sounds really good. I'm using the gt75 speakers but I like the vintage 30 also. I've yet to use a pa, powered monitors/ speakers. That can match a good old 12" guitar speaker for me. ( what I hear)
-
I still need a sub for my PA system. (Not with helix) I play at home so the stereo thing is so cool. If y'all haven't tried it you got too. Put on some headphones or something n try it. Two Marshall 4-12 cabs is a bit of an overkill but then again it sounds so great. Seeing some cool ideas in this thread.
-
Picked up the 2nd Marshall cab today and it's great. Real nice tone, now it's time to start tweaking the Helix to sounds I like. Anyone else not feeling the factory presets? Easily fixed though and that's a cool part about the helix on how simple it is to change sounds. Bought to dive deeper into the helix.

Is Helix worth buying for just the effects-NO AMPS NEEDED.
jar1zx replied to JLEpperson's topic in Helix
I have not yet hooked my helix up to my dual rec but I will in next few days ( fighting a cold) I will agree with you that mesa's are pedal picky. Sounds damn good on my power amp and two Marshall 4-12 1960 cabs though. -
Played with a few more powered speakers and I'm going to stick with the engl power amp. Just found a 2nd Marshall 4-12 cab vintage with tweed grill cloth. I have about a 10x20 man cave so I'm going to put each cab on a side, I'm guessing ten feet apart should be good for stereo separation. Should sound killer.

Ok a few years back I did have this problem Then i changed my DSL/ Internet to the fastest package I could buy. ( think it's now called u verse or something) Never looked back.
-
I do have a few things running in the background on both devices that might eat a lil ram. But I don't have problems on forums unless forum gets buggy, then the pc/ Mac users are having trouble also.
-
sometimes a simple power off and back on will do wonders for a iPod/ iPhone/ iPad. Clean out cookies and history every now and then. Make sure to close out extra pages/windows/ tabs you have open. I use safari to surf websites like this and chrome/ Google to do info searches. Since I'm on a buggy iOS 8.0 and jailbroken I do a power cycle once a day with my phone, depending on the sites, movie box, YouTube I watch I do a power cycle once a week or two on my iPad that's on a more stable iOS 8.3.
-
Guess I shouldn't be giving tips as it took me 3 hours or more to do the update, I was about to box it up and take it back but I gave it one more try and it worked. Line 6 installer wouldn't read my helix, so my thing was different than yours. Good luck

Try 8+9+12 When powering on. Reset I seen on line6 for helix
-
Think they have an 9.2 out right now but it's not jail broken, got to stay below 9.2 for a jailbreak. For now this 8.3 is working great and it's a pain in the butt to update all the time. Think I can get anything ios9 has by using jailbreak. On iOS 8.0 on my iPhone and it's kinda glitchy but I can post or read anything here. I wonder why all us iPhone users have been tripping on the helix, heck we are used to glitchy firmware release with apple
-
Looks like most my problems have been fixed. I just checked out at least 20 presets with no problems ( I have be unable to do this till now) Helix is looking up.
-
My iPad does just fine, only thing is posting a pic I have trouble. Haven't learned to resize pics yet. I have some jailbreak programs running in the back like ad blocker, un trusted host blocker and other things. Other than time to update something I don't even turn on my pc's. iPad air2 think 8.3 firmware.
-
Omg it downloaded it, pretty fast also. I've been at this for 3 hours and was at my breaking point, got the helix box ready to take back to GC. I did nothing different this time but at least the update went through. Going to play it now and maybe I can explore presets not without it freezing up.
-
Just gave it one last try out of desperation and the updater has seen my helix. I don't know what I did different but I'm crossing my fingers right now as it's updating
-
Have the helix app. Have the updater 104 new one I think. When I down load the 1.03.0 firmware my pc just reads it out in pages of gibberish. Tried on both my pc's ( win 10) same thing. And updater is not reading helix. On both pc's. Helix app is working on both pc's Please help me. What am I doing wrong?

Look under support/ popular articles/ factory reset procedures
-
Go to line 6 page. I was signed in....found a big page with resets to a lot of line 6 gear,
-
We do have a firmware update today, I'm definitely going to update later when I get home
-
just read on line6 and it said to hold 8,9 and 12 on start up for reset.
