  1. I'm going to guess the engl 810 is a 20+20 watt? Drooling over here. I think my engl is called a 920 and at 50+50 it will blast me out of my 10x20 music room when I click off my patch to a factory setting with louder volume. Be nice to hear how your engl does. Other than being loud as heck, my engl sounds real nice on 4x12 cabs with helix floor model.
  2. I've tried other powered speakers, amps, moniters and this is the best for me that I have found. Mesa makes a fifty fifty Marshall makes a tube power amp also. Seen lots on mesa's on Craigslist go for $400-500 and you can pick up a beat up 1960 cab for $200-250 with good speakers. Test speakers before you buy and then you have option to make your own cab. My friend bought a new carivan amp for $600 after playing my engl. give me a few days and I'll go to his house and see how it sounds. 600 for a USA amp, isn't bad.
  3. The Engl is a 90's model a is a strange beast. It takes any fx board new or old and makes even ones that sound really bad sound good. As for power it is louder than both my dual recitifer and my Mesa mark 5. I would put it on the same power as the old triple rec I used to have.
  4. As I only have one of the amps that's on the helix it's hard to say. But playing the dual rec into the Marshall cab and playing the helix-Engl-Marshall using Cali rec on helix.....it's close to my real amp. The dual rec on helix even acts like my real one with I change gain or roll volume off my guitar. My KRK VXT seem to have a mid range boost listening to music on pic. Helix played through these with Cali rec doesn't sound like my real amp. Sound nice playing music with eq to tailor to taste. My mains JBL pxr6115m sound ok but not as good as Engl.
  5. Op go grab you a good tube power amp I have an old engl tube power amp 50x2 and its sweet. Still running 2 Marshall 1960 a cabs and I could drowned out 1 drummer with ease maybe 2. My plans on getting 2 single 12 cabs have been put off due to work hours but I still plan on getting 2 single 12 cabs. But the sound at any volume is magic, I have power moniters and mains and they can't compete with the sound I get from the Engl power amp. For speakers vintage 30's or gt 75's work very well.
  6. I have the higher end set of these in a 4 inch speaker and it doesn't sound that great to me
  7. I strongly disagree. I remember getting emails from line 6 before release date, I watched vids before release date and what they both had in common was the brand new line 6 Helix was going to be the best new product out. We could get rid of all our other gear and just use this. It was also brought up that the helix had the same dsp power as the fractal axe fx. Was strongly hinted that we would see updates just like other brands that cost way more..... Never once did I see marketing say.......The New Line 6 Helix perfect for when you settle for less than the best. Everyone of us has a favorite amp, and we would like to play that amp on our $1500 helix. We all don't like the same amps. Some of us sold gear to help with purchase of our helix (I sold some of my pedals) others sold tube amps they loved....now they just want to be able to play what they had on the helix....or even amps they can not afford to buy. I just hope line 6 doesn't see comments like yours and decide they have given us all we need. PS. Just to stop a joke before it's said, I took my Xanax today and I feel pretty good mentality.
  8. Felt a little better today and played guitar, man the meas boogie mark v is sweet. if line 6 does the mark 5 they will have a task to match this amp.......I kinda wonder if they can get it? I wonder if axe fx did an ok copy? Would be an undertaking since the mark 5 can do so many tones. So line 6.... When you have done the amps everyone wants and y'all get bored, try to copy the mark 5 (challenge).
  9. Sorry for the rant, I been sick all week and forgot to take my Xanax. After posting that I took a sec and thought why I was upset and remembered I've went 7 days without. Most times I take a half a pill every other day. So I kinda said something most of us have been thinking. On the better side I took one, feeling more even now and don't really care in what order line 6 gives us new amps. In time we should have plenty that we want.
  10. Got tired of wait and got a mark v the other day :) So now I'll just wait and be surprised by what ever line 6 gives us. Idea scale or what ever it's called is the dumbest thing ever, I need to remember a new ID an extra password like I need a new hole in my head. Been nice if we had a place to go to voice our ideas with our gd line 6 ID and same fn password. I think that's why some of us don't use it
  11. Relax...... It seems we are just getting to the good stuff. For the ones that went out and bought the helix soon after release well we were the beta testers. Looks like we are now getting past that point. I've had a glitch or two but line 6 has been fixing these pretty well. Think we got 2 pedals on last update and this new update we have got all kinds of new things. So we have had some bug/glitch fix updates and now we have seen the 1st great update. Seen someone up above in a post saying we should buy a 2nd helix........lol people are still lined up waiting on a 1st helix. Again I read a post above that he bought the helix for what it was.........I bought my helix for what it will be, not the glitchy thing i first got. the wait paid off as I'm starting to like my helix more. Cut line 6 a break......... Line 6 wants the helix to be as great as we do and they are on the right track. I'm happy with my helix it's worth the cost and we are still in the beginning of what it can do. Great job line 6 crew keep up the good work :) And thx
  12. Hold down 9/10 before update or after update. I've been doing this after the updates. Not to specific on this in directions
  13. Right now I think line 6 is working on bug fixes but I really look forward to the day the glitches are out of the way and I can stop feeling like a $1500 beta tester. And enjoy 3 channels of the mark 4 with all modes......that would be the best day ever!!!!
  14. I really hope they get around to a mark iv, or mark v, heck I would even take a mark ii. Really want that iv though.
  15. Don't see the leave forum option on my phone. Guess I can take care of that later when I get to my pc.
  16. Wow! That was unnecessarily racist. What are the next topics of discussion? Religion or politics? Most people that live in the south are not like that stereotype.
  17. Dont give rant I posted any mind. Like op said..... Helix doesn't give us much of what a dual rec can do. Unless line6 was copying an older single rec.
  18. I have a newer dual rec, and I have to say it gets into the mark tones a little. The cleans on this amp are pretty good, with a lot of tones between clean and high gain. Kinda easy to get the clean tones and just a bit of break up with this newer amp over the older recs I had in the past. Still not a mark 4/5 but not as much of a one trick pony as older models I have owned. And the blistering paint peeling gain is still a part of this amp just like the older models. (Mark iv and mark v can't do the rectifier gain without help). My helix responds like an older dual rec with gain. On cleans (ive gotten better with helix) but my dual rec hands down beat the cleans on most the amps on the helix with my set up. I would like to see a mark v on the helix and a little more work put in to taking cab sims off and sounding good. I have the cab's I like and I don't need the sims. I'm really picky though I picked my favorite cab by speaker, and wood used, I like the Marshall 1960 top cabs. If the orange cabs were not so heavy I would have one.
  19. With how slow the helix has been, I've kicked the idea of trading mine off for a nice prs, lespaul custom, Mesa mark four or a USA Jackson soloist with a hard tail. Then I'll just buy another helix when more are out ( next year I guess)
  20. My helix read on my PC ( win 10) 1st try today😀 Update was easy this time
  21. I have guitars in shop in back yard, so kinda farther to the truck. Today it's been doing some stupid raining, my carport had a 3 inch flood earlier ( moving water) I changed my mind about going to back yard. Starting to let up some now I think. But ya I could use a good water proof case.
  22. I had thoughts about this. I'm going to guess line 6 testing with the helix would be in a studio environment ( I bet a good1) and I would also guess test at line 6 would be using some of the higher end line 6 amp/speakers and a line 6 guitar. I do not have a studio.....not even close, I am not using a line 6 powered speaker, so the sound of the presets that I hear will be different. Even guitar can change the sound. My setup is not low end at all but I bet few if anyone in here is using the power amp I am, so if I made presets that sound good on my gear it might sound bad on other peoples gear. Most presets just need a minor tweaking, and a few sound good. A few do kinda suck though. BUT NOT ALL:)
  23. Kinda thinking about a hard shell tactical gun case, they have plenty of foam padding. Would just be finding the right size
  24. Any chance of something other than a backpack? I'm 41 and have not used a backpack since I was in school, don't plan on starting back with either. Seems I seen a case of some sorts for the hd500/x. I wonder if the helix would fit into it. Today it was raining and I wanted to take my helix to a friend's house but I don't yet have anything to put it in.
