shall I get a Helix or a compact tube amp (thinking of a Hughes and Kettener Grandmeister 36) to pair with my pod.....I have the psychological feeling that : real amp equal less tweaking and equal best results thant with a pod or a helix. not because pod is modeling ...but just because with an amp you are more limited and that you will master the knobs easily and thus get perfect sound

is it that better than the pod ???

I don't know what's happening to me. I play with the pod during 3 years and I used to be amazed with the result after tweaking efforts. since 4 month, I feel bored about the sound.. I tried different new stuffs and different new strategies such us using amp sim infront of a clean amp. the results are good but im not amazed anymore. Note that I used to plug it in the return of different amps tube or solid state. Who already experienced this feeling ?? DO you think its time for me to get something else ?? + i THINK i'm tired trying to set up my sounds in rehearsal , triyng to fix levels .... trying to find where this undesirable high frequency lies ( in the amp model or in the modeled pedal) ... any suggestion ? SHALL i GO for a traditional amp with pod's effect ?? i'm little bit lost EDIT : my problem lies more in the lead tones I still love the lceans im getting , and i Found a way to get very interesting crunch

Great all those answers makes me impatient to have the DT you're saying that That verb is not hooked to the HD500(x) you mean that even with L6 link i can still use the reverb inside the DT ???

Hello, i play with a pod since 2 years, its been a love hate relationship and the learning curve was difficult. Yet im still optimistic about it since I already used in the fx return of a tube amp and I was amazed. I'm programming to buy a DT to pair with my hd and im questioning myself wether to get a james taylor variax to have the full dream rig or just buy a premium ibanez guitar ?? How does the 89f model compete against a premium ibanez guitar ?? in terms of build quality ?? is the variax worth ?? or is it a mess like the hd and needs a learning curve ?? does it promises excellent sound without quick results like the hd500 ?? thank you

similar but different ?? you mean same choice of pedals and amps but with full models ans tweaked for headphone use?? how do they sound compared while using the DT ??

While HD +DT implies to use different presets and tweaking depending on the volume ( at home vs rehearsal ) does it imply to re tweak our patches and setting for live use depending on the room ...... in this case how match is it different from rehearsal ones ?? I want to be psychologically prepared for such surprises before a show :s and since the HD includes infinite number of parameters am afraid to get lost just before the show and finally finding my self with a crappy sound any good or bad experience out there ??

Im getting the 50 version..lot of videos where i was pleased with the DT sound was about the 50 version , se maybe there is this magical thing about EL34 tube. Im also getting he 50 version for being absolutely sure to be able to use it what ever the situation is (live /rehearsal ). Hope i will not be defeated with low power mode. Does is sound good ?? shall I have two different versions of the same patche for LOW volume and normal volume mode ?? or using pre amp version with low volume mode adds power amp simulation to the sound ??

What kind of speakers are the selection inside the DT series ?? Im buying a DT50 head and I wonder what kind of speakers should I buy to get the result I'm supposed to have with the built in Line6 Celestion speakers? are those speakers neutral or do they color the sound ?? Any suggestion about speakers having the same specs ??

DO you feel the difference between EL84 of the DT25 and the EL34 of the DT50 ??

well, after a long road , I have finally decided that i needed the DT for my hd500. now, I have the opportunity to pick up either the 25 combo or the 50 head. What's the main difference between the 25 and the 50 model as far as tone , headroom , power ?? is the 50 a great improvement in terms of power and headroom ?? what about the feel ?? is it any different ?? something else : direct out?? i think in the 50 I will not be able to use it when in stand by mode IS the low volume mode different on the 50 model last, is the 25 more reliable in terms of building quality ?? thank you

waw...DT all the way,,its been months since I hesitate...now with all those positive replies I think i'm a converted line6 user...what about reliability of the product. I dont have any issue with my hd500, despite tone suck with 4 cable method ...what about the DT ...I see alot of people complaning about fuse, hiss , no more sound, no more topology switching ...are these isolated situations ?? or is the DT series known for such kind of technical problems and issues. thank you for your help EDIT : one more question. It appears that the DT voicings use cab simulation ...do you think that if i use an external cab sim IRS with the hd in conjunction with the DT may results in better results ?? many people complain about the cab of the hd ..I know that using external irs when going in to pa results in better sound ...what about using this technique when using the DT amps. the idea is using torpedo cab in the loop of the hd before going into L6 LINK. Last question, is it that difficult to make the DT shine with the HD. lot of people here complain about it stating that the DT sounds better alone

Who already used the line6 DT as power amp to other analog pre amps ?? what was the result ?? was it as good as using regular tube power amp ?? I have hd500 and some analog pre amps that I want to still to use..wanna know if the DT is the way to go thank you

Its hard for me to understand how digital piece of gear sounds better than a full tube amp...After this experience, I think the LINE6 DT 25 is the way to go...

How would you rate it ?? If marshall is 10/10 for example how would you rate the marshall sound in the DT ?? sorry if its kind weird questions ..I dont have the opportunity to try before to buy. another question : does it take a lot of time to dial good tones ?? I'm a pod user and i have a love hate relationship with this piece of gear....some times it sound good some times bad some times i'm frustrated for not having direct results level volumes on rehearsals is a big problem that i am not able to fix yet ?? is it a tweaking problem or does the pod does nt cut it in the mix in a band situation ?? do you thin the pod respects the attitude of individual guitar? with tone and volume tunings ?? any other option as versatile but easier to use ??
