  1. Hey all, I have hooked up my Eventide H9 via the FX send/return 1 and I am having difficulty figuring this out. My input level on the H9 is great but the output level of each patch needs to be boosted to +20dB and the output is still quiet. The Helix fx loop is set to instrument, not line, which I believe is correct. At one point the output level was fine but then it went quiet again when I engaged the looper. I have tried different Helix patches, different FX loops with no luck. Not sure what is going on. I just figured something out - if I pull the MIDI cable connecting the Helix to the H9 the issue goes away. This must be something where the Helix is sending a MIDI control message to the H9 that somehow is messing up the output level of the H9? I want to be able to control the H9 via MIDI eventually... anyone have any clues as to what might be happening? Thanks all!
  2. Thanks, that is what I was thinking. I will try sending in stereo even in mono situations and see how it sounds. Thanks again for the input!
  3. Hey all! I decided to order the H9 and add it to my pedal board. Because sometimes (in the studio) I will run in stereo I want to have it all hardwired on the pedal board for either mono (live) or stereo (studio) settings. If I have the L and R ins and outs wired to the Helix via FX send/return 1 and 2, I am assuming that I can just set my patch to use just FX send/return 1 for mono applications and use 1 and 2 stereo for studio patches? I just want to make sure that having the H9 L and R inputs wired all the time will not cause issues with only hearing half the signal in mono situations...? I hope I am making sense. Thanks all for any of your input! Michael
  4. Thanks for the input. Tried the acoustic IRs, even bought the Sigma ones and they sound horrid. Reason I need to put the Para DI in the effects loop is so I don't need to rewire my board - the G70 is already going into the Helix. I want to be able to easily switch between electric and acoustic and have it all wired up. I will try the above suggestions, but I have little hope of getting any IR's to sound the way I'd like.
  5. Hey all, been struggling with getting a good acoustic sound out of the Helix without an acoustic preamp so going to try this...just wanted to check to make sure I wont have any issues with this setup: Taylor Acoustic -> Relay G70 -> Helix -> Helix Send 4 -> L.R. Baggs Para DI -> Helix Return 4 -> Bunch of Helix FX -> XLR Out Thanks for any input! M
  6. Understood, but I would really rather have it work in footswitch mode without having to switch to snapshots. Probably not possible...
  7. Hey all, I have a 4CM setup between the Helix and a 5150 III combo. I have set up three footswitches labeled Clean, Crunch and Lead the transmit a Program Change MIDI message to the 5150. This all works very well, but I can't figure out how to do the following: I want to group the three footswitches so only one is active at a time and have the footswitch light appropriately for the selected channel. For instance, if I select FS2 it should light, send the MIDI Program Change to the 5150 to switch to the crunch channel and the previously selected FS1 or FS3 should un-light. Is it possible to do this? Hope I explained it well enough and thanks in advance for any feedback!
  8. Latest OSX on MacBook Air. No issues through any of the upgrades.
  9. Oops, figured it out. Nothing worse than a bad cable.
  10. Hey all, Just got a 5150 50 Watt Combo and I am trying to set up 4CM. The FX seem to work but it is completely bypassing the preamp. I know I must have a block set wrong. I started with the 4CM template but nothing seems to be working. Here is the cable routing... Guitar -> Helix Helix FX Send 3 -> 5150 Input 5150 FX send -> Helix FX Return 3 Helix 1/4 Out (L) -> 5150 FX Return Essentially, my patch has the following... DIST PEDAL VOL PEDAL -> SEND 3 -> DELAY REVERB -> RETURN 3 Output of patch is set to 1/4. What is wrong with my picture? I have had this successfully set up with an Egnater, but I cant find my patches. Thanks! Really appreciate it.
  11. Hey all, just took the plunge and ordered an EVH 50w combo and a pedal Python. Anyone out there have some good patches already set up to channel switch via MIDI?
  12. I have found that you definitely want to change to floor monitor mode rather than PA mode when you use the L2T on the floor. It reduces the bass frequencies and should be a lot closer to what is being sent to FOH.
  13. I am using the L2T as a floor monitor and i suggest setting it to floor monitor mode. I found it sounded much better when on the floor. PA mode had way to much bass, floor monitor mode specifically lowers the bass freq to account for the close to floor position. It really depends on you and your patches. I have worked extensively on the Helix to get to the sound i want, just takes time to get it all sounding the way you like.
  14. Hey all, I have a new L2T hooked up via the L6 LINK to a Helix. I have noticed that the fan really seems abnormally loud. I dont really hear it when playing, but as soon as I stop i can clearly hear the fan whirring along and then winding down. Is this normal with all stagesource speakers?
  15. Hey all, i currently have a Ditto stereo looper pedal wired via the sends of the Helix, works great except that i get a drop out when switching patches. Any way around this? I want to use the Ditto as it is easier and has a great amount more loop time. Thanks!
  16. I disable spotlight, and other things such as notification center. There are a few great online guides i use, will post them as i do a clean install of el capitan. Probably wont get to it till this weekend though. You can set which locations spotlight will index.
  17. Hey all, just curious as to your position on this thought... Usually I will only do a clean install of a new OS, but it is so time intensive. Reinstalling NI Komplete, Ableton, all the drivers etc. etc. etc. Really would love to avoid the hassle and just update to El Capitan. Thoughts? Thanks all!
  18. OK, gonna go and install El Capitan. Will let you all know how it goes...
  19. Does this solve just the disconnect issue or the pops and clicks issue with USB audio?
  20. Hmmm, do I dare move up from Yosemite? Anyone else got it running on the latest El Capitan?
  21. Heh, I get that. Right now I am just working on patches and configuration sitting down in my office with The L2T on a raised platform about 6 inches up. Pretty much pointed right at my head. On Stage I'm sure I'll use the little feet to hold the speaker at the 60° angle. Line 6 went above and beyond designwise with the 30° and 60° angles being taken into consideration. Really loving helix into the L2T.
  22. Did you need to do a lot of adjustment to your patches as well as the factory patches to get them to sound good using the L2 as a floor monitor in Reference/PA mode? The manual says that the only difference in Floor Monitor mode is that they have removed some of the bass frequencies that are present when the speaker is so close to the floor. I have found that the L2T is much better horizontally on the floor in floor monitor mode! Again thanks for all the input!
  23. The handle is built to hold the monitor at a 30° angle while the retractable legs hold it at a 60° angle.
  24. The L2T does the same thing, my confusion came from the fact the I have read more than once on this forum that you should still select Reference/PA mode even when using the L2T as a floor monitor. This requires checking each time I turn it on, which is really not convenient. I have however, based on more research, decided that it should be fine to use Floor Monitor mode and that should accurately represent what is being sent to FOH. It was taking a great deal of time for me to reset my patches so that they would sound good in Reference/PA mode when the speaker was sitting on its side on the floor. This was aggravated by the fact that I could not simply adjust the global EQ to account for the added muddiness of the bass due to the fact that Global EQ does not affect the L6 LINK output. Maybe the confusion had more to do with using Guitar mode on the L2T versus Reference/PA mode? I dont see why anyone would suggest setting the speaker to Reference/PA mode when Floor Monitor mode simply accounts for the added bass frequencies when having the speaker on the floor on its side. In any case, I am going to let the L2T pick the proper mode based on speaker position.
