  1. I still am disappointed that i cant set the Global EQ to affect the L6 Link digital output. It might be very helpful in certain stage situations to be able to easily EQ the entire unit instead of ona patch per patch basis.
  2. My only issue here is that I want FOH to get exactly what I am hearing from the L2T so that my guitar sound is being translated to the house accurately. I guess that the reduced bass frequncies in floor monitor mode will not affect that as it will still sound very close to what the PA speakers at FOH are reproducing. FOH will get the missing lower frequencies and stage will get them as well due to the monitor position close to the floor.
  3. This would be ideal, however in my circumstance i need to use the L2T as a floor monitor. Thanks for all the input!
  4. Yes, that seems to be the case. As i will be using this as a floor monitor, guess having the low cut is a good thing. I am also assuming that this will still be an accurate representation of what is being sent to FOH as the lows will be in the send from the main XLR outs on the Helix.
  5. I was under the impression that Global EQ does not affect the digital outputs including L6 LINK. This was stated in the manual. Further testing on my part proved this as any change to global EQ did not change the sound via L6 Link. I think the obvious choice is to use the L2 T in floor monitor mode... I will need to see if that is an accurate representation of what is being sent to FOH. ThNks for the input!
  6. Addendum... After reading the section from the pilots handbook on the modes, maybe Floor Monitor mode is fine to use as it just eliminates some of the low boominess that occurs due to the position of the speaker on the floor... Why is it suggested that you use PA Ref mode when using a modeling amp?
  7. Hey all, looking for input from other L2 and Helix users. I recently purchased an L2T and was working through many of the patches on the Helix. I had the L2T on its side using the handle to hold it in position as a floor monitor hooked up via the L6 LINK. I was absolutely loving the sound but I soon found out that the L2T had automatically selected floor monitor mode rather than pa reference mode. I switched it to pa reference mode and found that all my patches now sounded like dung. Ive spent several hours tweaking and now have several patches sounding better, but they still dont seem to me to sound as good as they did in floor monitor mode. I am also finding that sometimes the L2T will select PA Reference mode when turned on, but sometimes it selects Floor Monitor mode. I am not sure what is triggering this behavior. I want to hear what is being sent to FOH via the XLR outs, and eventually will add an L2M for stereo via L6 LINK. Just thought I would start a topic and see if any of you fellow L2T users had suggestions, ideas, comments or even patches on how best to tweak the Helix for PA Reference mode. I am not sure why the patches sound so much better to me in Floor Monitor mode. Thanks all!
  8. I'd like a set of Uilleann Pipes made from cats.
  9. Thanks for the input! I just ordered the L6 Link cable from Sweetwater. Figured I might as well keep it all Line 6.
  10. I was running the Helix via 4CM into an Egnater Tweaker 40. I did love the sound, but decided for simplicity sake to invest in a Line 6 L2T. i have since sold the Tweaker and am extremely happy with the sounds of the FRFR. It is great to know exactly what is being sent to FOH. I am still thinking about getting a 5150 though, but TheHelixChannel and Glen Delaune have some 5150 patches that are phenominal.
  11. I too, am currently using an L2T with the Helix in PA Ref mode. Does anyone know if I will see any benefit to using the official Line 6 L6 LINK cable as opposed to a very high quality BLUE microphones mic XLR cable? hate to shell out 60 bucks if I dont have to, but willing if it is better. Eventually I will be adding an L2M for stereo.
  12. Did anyone get resolution to this problem. My L2T hooked up to the Helix just started doing this. It was working fine, but then I turned it on yesterday and I am getting the weird sizzling sound coming from the top end of the L2T - near the power light. I hear it regardless of how I hook it up - XLR outs, L6 LINK and 1/4 inch outs all do it. I no longer hear it when hooked up through my studio monitors. I just put in a support ticket... This thing is only a month old and I am really a bit put off by the whole thing.
  13. I have this issue with my Ditto looper. The phasing and hollowness doepended on where I put the loop in the chain. I had to fiddle with placement to get the sound right. Not sure if this will help your situation... Will keep an eye on this thread though.
  14. To add, if your a fan of TFCM, running the Helix with a tube amp is incredible. I am just finding that I don't need the tubes to get a great sound with the Helix. The Glen Delaune patches help too.
  15. When I first got my HD500X, I went through the patches and found maybe four I liked. Once I hooked up my Egnater Tweaker 40 via the 4 Cable Method, I liked the HD500X. When I got my Helix, I ran through all the presets and found maybe four I DIDNT like, and they were all special fx patches. Once I started tweaking it and hooked it up to a Line 6 L2T, I put the Egnater up for sale. There is no comparison. The thing, balls out, rocks. I love the editing, don't even care if they come out with a Mac based editor as I find the on board editing a breeze. Of course, you can get a used 500X for tree fitty, the Helix will cost a bit more. IMHO, it's a no brainier... and zZounds or American Musical will get you an 8 payment plan that makes it a bit easier to swallow. I've been a long time Line 6 user, from the Pod XT to the X3 to the HD500X. Now it's an L6 Relay G70 going into an L6 Helix into an L6 L2T. Later this year the plan is to add an L6 L2m because the only thing better than a Helix is a Helix in stereo!
  16. Just purchased the G70 and had same high pitched issue. I was using a 9V supply with daisy chain. I switched to the USB power supply that came with the G70 and no more issues. Unfortunately, now the power supply section of my floor board looks like a giant spider. I hate freakin spiders...
  17. Here is my solution - created with poplar available at any bLowes and stainless steel cabinet pulls from Home Cheapot. I also used Velcro 2" available from bLowes. This required removing the rubber feet so I could get a solid connection between the Helix and the board. Added a Ditto looper to increase loop time and operate looping more easily. Also probably helps increase DSP power by taking looping off board? Not sure on that one. I built this to fit in an SKB 49 Key hard shell keyboard case which I will be purchasing this week and will let you know how it all fits.
  18. I just went to update to 1.06 on El Capitan... A MacMini that I just installed El Capitan on from ground up... Helix App can't find the Helix though it is showing up in Audio and MIDI devices window. My MacBook with Yosemite sees it fine. Disappointing...
  19. Hey all. I just picked up an L2T which should be here in a day or two. My question is, what would you advise as the best way to use the Helix and L2T in a House of Worship setting? I am both lead guitar and lead singer. I would like to be running to FOH and also have a monitor feed coming back to the L2T from one of the FOH mixer aux sends. The system is mono, and I might possibly be sending my vocal through the Helix as well as guitar. Would love any advice on best way to connect all this... Thanks!
  20. Hey all, wanted to insert my two cents worth. I was having this same issue with the HD 500 X going into my mac mini. I was hoping that the helix would solve this but it didn't. Using 4CM into my Egnater Tweaker 40, I could not have the USB connected for it would generate an intolerable noise. Yesterday after reading some of these posts I decided to connect the helix to my MacBook air using a USB 3.0 hub and lo and behold no more noise. This solves a huge issue for me because I wanted to be running ableton through the helix at the same time as having my amp connected. Doing further testing in the next few weeks. Have rolled everything back to Yosemite though due to the crackling and other issues I was finding in El Capitan.
  21. One thing I did notice is that if I use the four cable method template with the helix preamp button as soon as I switch it it's extremely loud . I have to knock down the master output of each preamp to about one or two from the default eight . dont Know if there's a way around this by level setting. It Is likely I won't be using a preamp though as the stomp boxes with the preamp of the Egnater sound phenomenal.
  22. I am using standard TS instrument cable and have noticed no noise. I do get a whine coming from the amp with USB connected which could be a real problem because I wanted to use the helix as an interface for Ableton. I am only switching channels of the M no need to switch the effects loop . Eventually I will probably switch to an L 2M as the helix sounds awesome. So far really happy with the results of the four cable method.
  23. Thanks! Much appreciated! Tell me, is there any danger in using a Helix preamp via this template into an Egnater Tweaker 40 all tube amp? That could seriously open up a huge amount of possibilities but I would not want to damage the amp. Thanks!
  24. Hey all, Don't know why the heck I can't figure this out. On the 4CM template, I want to remove the Send/Return assignment (labeled Helix Preamp) and assign it to control the Channel Select of my Egnater Tweaker. I have it all working, but I can't seem to make it stop turning the FX Loop on and off. How do I un-assign the Send/Return FXLoop from the footswitch? Also, what exactly does the footswitch do when assigned to Helix Preamp in the 4CM Template patch? Thanks, love the Helix but feel like I am wracking my brain for something that is probably wicked simple.
