So why is it taking sooooo long for Helix to be readily Available.
WithALoudNoise replied to lefttygtr's topic in Helix
I did the same thing, sold my HD500X to fund the Helix which I purchased October 19th. It finally shipped from American Musical today and should be here tomorrow. -
Around oct 19th i think

My American musical order now says shipped awaiting tracking number and in warehouse being packed. The date for more units has been pushed from 1211 to 1214. Not sure what this means hopefully they got in more units because if they ship me one that's been restocked I am going to be quite irritated This is something American musical is done to me in the past where I got a guitar that clearly had been opened completely mistuned and had serious neck problems. I will assume for now that new helix units arrived on Friday

American Musical is now stating 12/11 for the next shipment of Helixes (Helixii?) which lines up with Musicians Friend date. Wonder if that is accurate... Good things come to those who wait...

Quitting Smoking (Day 1)...Where's my G**D*** Helix???
WithALoudNoise replied to PiFromBRC's topic in Helix
I disagree. I quit after 15 years, smoke free for 15 years and have no urge whatsoever. In fact, 2nd hand cigarette smoke now just gives me a headache. Guess everyone is different though, I do understand how hard it is to quit. Took me two go-arounds with the parch, but finally stuck. If you can make it two weeks, you should be good. But was not this a question about the Helix? I ordered mine via AMS around October 15th and I am still waiting... I should add that I don't do business with guitar center or musicians friend any longer. I pretty much exclusively use AMS and zZounds. Sweetwater once in a while, but the pay as you play plans that AMS and zZounds offer are excellent. -
I have this same problem with my HD500X and my Egnater Tweaker 40. As soon as I plug the USB port I get the buzz. Was hoping it would be solved with the Helix which should be arriving soon, hopefully. This happens on Mac mini as well as MacBook Air. Of course, if the Helix sounds as good as I think, I may just stop with the 4CM and go straight into my L1.

I emailed Americal Musical Supply today. They pull from the same warehouse as zZounds and they replied stating that the shipment they were expecting for the Nov 22nd date posted on their site had not come in. I ordered mine around the 15th of October. Now the site just states Preorder Today! with no date listed. I am hoping I will see it within the next week or so... Strange thing is, they use the same stock as zZounds - I know this for a fact- so I wonder how back orders of Helixes will get filled...

I am using a T5 with the HD500X. My best setup uses the four cable method between the Pod and an Egnater Tweaker 40. The sound is sick. I am also working with it as a direct setup. It takes a bit of work tweaking the tones but I am having great results. Still, using the HD500X as an effects loop with the tube goodness of the Tweaker is phenomenal.

All great responses and it seems that there are enough users with positive experiences to warrant giving the HD500X some more time once it comes back from the shop. I will be giving that FX8 a close look though. One of e greatest things I like about the L6 floor units is the four cable method hooked into my Egnater Tweaker 40. I would gladly pay the price for the FX8 if it can do everything that the HD does. Thanks for a great thread. Will give the HD the benefit of my doubts.

As much as I appreciate the reference to a great song, I don't believe in jinxes. I believe in God. I also believe that manufacturing and quality control has suffered greatly over the past couple decades and we are now living in a world of disposable products and poor production. I have owned many different products from many different companies over my extensive musical history. MOTU, Apple, Egnater, Furman, Roland, Lexicon, Bose, KRK, Taylor, Ibanez, Native Instruments, TC Electronics etc. With the exception of Behringer (and perhaps Digitech/DOD), I have never had issues with equipment as I have with Line 6. Behringer products no longer grace me with their unreliable presence. Will Line 6 be the next to go?

Just as a side note, I have always been pleased with Line 6 support. Unfortunately, living in Maine the nearest service center (actually, the only service center) is two hours away so even warranty repairs end up costing money.

I do really appreciate all of the replies. To clarify, all of my gear is plugged in to proper surge protectors and I built this studio myself. I am quite familiar with studio construction, electrical etc. as I am a professional contractor. I would be a little happier if this had not happened with three different pieces of Line 6 gear, all of which have been used in different studio environments. I am fortunate in that they have all been warranty repairs, but this also means that the gear is failing in under a year - this with very limited use. It seems that most of you who have replied have had good luck with your line 6 gear, and there are no real other units that compare. I stay away from Boss, Digitech, Zoom etc. I am hoping that this was just a random defect in the HD500X and I will most likely keep it at this point as I can't find any other piece of equipment that is as comprehensive with routing possibilities, function etc. Thanks again for the replies.

Nope, no gremlins. And all my gear is treated with the utmost care. This was all smoke free studio gear. The HD I had only used about ten times before it died, and I know I am not alone in having these issues. I have found post after post of others having similar issues with line 6 gear.

They say, "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Well, sorry to say, Line 6 has done it to me thrice. Started with a Pod XT, which ended up in a very questionable shop in Massachusetts and was finally returned to me after more than six weeks. I went on to a Pod X3 floor unit which, after less than a year also had to be repaired. Now my HD500X won't boot up and it is at the repair shop, fortunately again under warranty. I will be selling the HD, losing money on Line 6 equipment once again. I really want to keep it. I like it, I like the software, I like the interface. I just can't trust it in a live situation. The stuff breaks. Please convince me why I should keep this thing and continue to purchase Line 6 equipment.

Hd500x Dual Tone Using 4 Cable Method Coupled With Xlr Out
WithALoudNoise replied to WithALoudNoise's topic in POD HD
Thanks for the replies! Really appreciate it. John - this is what I kind of assumed I would need, some kind of a work-around. I will try this over the weekend. One question though, in this setup, is the output through the XLR going to be in stereo or mono? Mono will be fine, stereo would seriously rock but I have a feeling that the way this works is sending left through the fx loop and right through the XLR? Also, will I need to remove the left xlr cable from the output? Thanks! M -
Hey all, I have a bit of a quandary ?.?.?.? what I want to do is use the four cable method to connect the HD500x to my Egnater Tweaker 40. So far, this is working flawlessly and I am loving the results. At the same time, I want to send a second tone, complete with modeled amp, cabine etc out the XLR outputs to the PA pretty much creating a double amp setup. I am just not sure if this is possible or how to do it - I have read through both the Edit and HD500x manuals, but I am still confustigated as to how to set this up. I'd also like to be able to turn on/off the tone heading out the XLRs - it seems that if I turn the FX loop on/off it pretty much mutes the 4 cable setup. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
-
Hey there, did you ever figure out if this was possible? I love the idea of the onboard looper but the 40 or so seconds just is not long enough. I want the looper controls to send MIDI messages to Ableton so I can use the Ableton looper when the looper button is pressed on the HD500x. Thanks, Michael

Can I Use My Fbv Express Mkii With The Hd500x?
WithALoudNoise replied to WithALoudNoise's topic in POD HD
Thanks for the quick answer. Guess the FBV is going up for sale. -
Is it possible to use the FBV Express MK2 with the HD500x as an external expression pedal and additional footswitches? I am about to purchase an HD500x and already own the express. Thanks!
