So for you fortunate ones who pre ordered. Here's my question. Like I posted above I had the hd500x dream rig sounded great but changing or editing was a nightmare, sold it. Now an amplify150. Very easy to edit on my iPad sounds pretty good but switching patches via a shortboard feels like days when in a live band situation. Unacceptable. So, for the guitarist who likes to just pick already made preset, tweak or change a couple of things no deep editing for studio work. Only live. Then have maybe 10 patch choices on my board. How have you felt ease of use. Etc... Also are you running the xlr or l6 link to your frfr. Then when you go to FOH do you go from your monitor thru to FOH or some way different?

Now seeing the first helix release issues surfacing, I'm glad I have to wait for the next batch of units to come. Maybe line 6 will be able to address these issues with a better newer firmware by then. I feel for you guys!
-
Thanks for the info. I think the l2m is the right choice with the helix. Set to pa mode and thru to FOH.
-
Maybe a line 6 guru can chime in. Want to run the helix thru the l2t or l2m. Since the l6 link doesn't switch the l2t or l2m, is it better to just get l2m and save $. Or is this a function that might be added in the future with a firmware update? My setup will be guitar-Helix-l2m or t. Thru to FOH. Lastly, if l6 link does not really do any proprietary switching is it better to just run xlr out to frfr?
-
Sounds great guys. I will be ordering mine soon and hook it to a mackie or line 6 l2m frfr monitor. That way my presets will sound the exact same thru the main house PA system. I think this is a no brainier for X amplify or firehawk users. The interface is almost exact, except no Bluetooth. Boooooo!

Let's here from the working guitarist, live band situations on this forum (not bedroom players nit picking things to death). How's it sound on stage? Ease of use? Tone? What are you running it thru. Amp, frfr. I have had the dream rig, amplify150, on and on. Now looking for good news on the Helix.

Is anyone really happy with there Jtv?
capdoogie replied to capdoogie's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Thanks Palico, I'm headed to a store that has the 89f. Your right, forums seem to only be filled with players with guitar problems. That's why I started this thread to hopefully bring out the ones with good jtv's. :-) -

Well it's good to see players come out and tell good things about there jtv's. I might have to give it another go. Maybe the 59 I bought and returned was a lemon? -

I'm glad to hear some of you are doing well with your Jtv. Sometimes on these forums its just the squeaky wheels. I would use the drop D and others. That is what these guitars are touted highly for, with modeling of course. I'll just have to wait on the next generation. Hopefully all the alt. tuning issues and other bugs will be fixed. -
I want to really like these guitars but it seems there close but no cigar. Ghost notes, weird harmonics, necks being swapped out. Host of other problems. It seems like a lot of money for a guitar that is almost good. I purchased a new Jtv 59 and sent it back, tone control was as mess. Come on line 6 this guitar has great things going on with the tuning capability and modeling but just not quite there. I'll wait for hopefully there next incarnation. Rant from longtime line6 owner.

Jtv-59 vs Jtv 89f
capdoogie replied to capdoogie's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I think that's what I'll have to do. Like said above I have tried the 59 and the neck felt a little chunky for my hands. Maybe the 89f will have a smaller feel. 69 is not in the picture for purchase. No a fan of center pickups. -
Jtv-59 vs Jtv 89f

Yeah. I want a fast neck. But maybe not the full on metal guitar. The Hard part is No one has these to try in my area. -
Jtv-59 vs Jtv 89f
capdoogie replied to capdoogie's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
So if I'm looking for an ibanez thinner as93 ish style neck and can play great clean (not modern metal guitar brittle) to blues to rock. Would the 89f be the better choice. I played someone's 59. I thought the neck was a little chunky but is sounded good. -
Looking to purchase either. What is the real difference between these two? I know 89f has the Floyd. But is the neck easier to play on the 89f than the 59 or our they the same? Are the pickups different? I know they should sound the same in virtual mode but do they? Looking for a Jtv that can play great clean to blues to modern rock. The strat style doesn't do it for me.

Tone control help, jtv-59
capdoogie replied to capdoogie's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Great. I'll check thnx -
Just purchased a new jtv-59 2014/2015. My question is when I play with a model selected, doesn't matter which one. When I roll the tone control back from ten the guitar or note plucked volume goes up a little at around 8. Then from there the treble slowly cuts as you dial,it back. Now when I just use the regular pickups no model, the tone control works just like my regular guitar. Any thought? Or is this normal

Delay between preset changes with 150 and Shortboard MKII Foot Controller
capdoogie replied to jdavidboyd's topic in AMPLIFi
I have the 150 and short board. There will always be a slight delay no matter what you do. Do to the lack of processing power I guess. But, to help speed up the process. Make sure your blue tooth/app program is off. Also if you use the same amps in A B C D of your switching this helps the speed also. I.e. Use fender twin clean in A. THEN fender twin in B with some distortion pedal added to it for dirt. This way the amps arnt reloading which takes time.
