  1. has anybody gotten one who ordered from sweet water? I preordered like almost a month and a half ago and still nothing
  2. i think the idea also is that when your not playing you just put it in the charger so its kind of like its always charged
  3. i encountered this a lot until I started using less guitar volume along with the volume pad on in the input settings and just using more master volume to get the overall volume I need. I know it sounds super rudimentary but I found that the helix really works nicely when you effectively manage the volume knobs on guitar/volume pedal. It seems like in a lot of the amps at full volume on guitar and full volume pedal it saturates the signal a little too much and makes it not sound as clear. Hope it helps. Good luck
  4. So does that mean they are looking at a more delayed time for the next round?
  5. I'm just wondering whats going on with the next run of Helix backpacks. I pre ordered one and I was told by my sweet water rep when I ordered it that it should be coming any day? But I've seen on other websites that they expecting them in june!!!
  6. I am confident they have but I've heard Line 6 people say they recommend it for home use. Maybe its not intended to be moved around with a lot. This is what I'm asking. I play in a wedding band and I am frequently jumping and dancing around like a cheese ball all night haha. I need to know if it will hold up or just fall out.
  7. I have my g10 on preorder but I'm a little concerned because it looks like it would be very bottom heavy and I'm wondering if it will put strain on the input jack and/or possibly fall out when dancing or moving around? How stable is this thing performance wise?

    Helix FAQ

Ok so since tgp page is closed I will ask my questions here lol. Probably easier without all the bickering anyway. Here goes 1)I have a question for helix owners. Which non matched combinations of amp and cabs have you experimented with? What are the pitfalls and advantages of using some non matched sets? I'm particularly interested in combinations of the more botique-ish amp heads such as the interstate, divided duo. Also I'm wondering what are some good combos for using amps with double cabs? Anybody have any presets of these kinds they could share and describe? 2)DI you mentioned blending mics on tgp. I'm not sure I understand how to do this on a cab on the helix. Can you clarify? 3)I tried using global eq with the high cut as suggested to help the tone. However I felt that the other default global eq settings were not optimal. I don't have much of a sound engineering background. I'm using an l2t and k12s for foh. Is there any someone could suggest a basic global eq settings that include the high cut and would work for most situations with these speakers. I understand every room is different and I should use my ears. I'm not looking for specifics so much as some basic guidelines to go by. Any help would be appreciated.

    Helix FAQ

Is there a way to set the helix so that when you turn on a new block, the settings for that effect show up with it? Or maybe just a shortcut or something. I'm finding it is kind of disorienting when you throw on an effect and can't see what it is currently set at. I know I can use pedal edit mode but sometimes it is hard to coordinate holding that switch down and then selecting the effect.

    Helix FAQ

This is a question I asked a little while ago but never received a response I think i got buried in one of the post video threads lol I noticed in the video one of the staff using a Livid guitar wing midi controller. Is this a viable option for switching presets/patches wirelessly? Livid wing sends and receives MIDI through USB so how would that work?
  11. Interesting choice of date for release, Ill just leave it at that

    Helix FAQ

Can the helix be controlled via the livid midi guitar wing for changing patches or anything else? Looks like that was being used in the video.

    Helix FAQ

Are there any plans to create a way to switch patches wirelessly in the helix?? Even if its only with the JTV I would go out and buy one for that use. I play in a wedding band where being out in front of the crowd is preferred for me but I keep having to run back in the middle of the song to change from clean to distortion. Obviously this isn't planned for at launch but it would be awesome to know if its at least in the thought phase.
  15. happen to sort of agree with ultraknilch. Maybe I am not able to hear whats so great about all these metal tones people have been posting also in the TGP forum as well and I don't understand why people are then ripping on the helix. Personally I think the Helix tones have been better or comparable than anything posted which possible exception to the Mesa Boogie video, that just sounded awesome, even though I think Helix will definitely give it a run for its money

    Helix FAQ

I know my TC Voicelive 3 has global settings and I do use them for guitar but thats honestly just because the guitar modeling sounds in it suck so much that the one setting that sounds halfway decent must function globally lol. I really think that if this thing has lots of great tones and amps to choose from I can't see the global settings being beneficial for many users. On the other hand, from the demos so far released it does appear that Amp settings may function in a global way. There is an amp button they showed in the videos. Id imagine that these settings function independently of effects settings, dynamics, etc. From what I understand they are coming from starting with a basic amp with basic settings that you like and then setting up a chain with effects paths as you like that can probably be grouped together somewhat like scenes. It also looks like theres options for multiple paths which probably means you can have the benefit of 4 global amp settings. Not sure if this helps or is obvious already but its just what i picked up out of the videos thus far.

    Helix FAQ

Thats what I'm saying haha! I just can't see Line 6 looking at these conversations and going "OMG scene changes and global settings, those are freakin brilliant ideas, how come we never thought of that?" Don't mean to be facetious but I just think that things have been implemented so many times in so many products before this. They spent anywhere from 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 years (depending on which video you watch ;) and are charging a price 3 times higher than their previous product. I just want to get this thing in my hands already and see what it can do. Obviously whether you trust this thing is going to fulfill your needs is always a risk with a new product like this but at this point I feel like it is what it is with respects to basic UI at this point so close to release.

    Helix FAQ

As much as I agree with everybody asking for scenes and global settings. Both of these features are things that I think are invaluable, however I want to just say that I'm hesitant to cheer for changes to the basic interface of the Helix as the interface from what I understand has a different approach to settings on the fly than any of us have seen before. From what I understand Helix is meant to be a very easy fluid like layout for changing the sounds. In previous units such as M13 the scene changes have existed and Im sure line 6 is aware of the need for global settings. I want to believe that these approaches were not implicated for a reason. I guess Im optimistic to see their vision of user interface. Im open to the change if it works personally. You all know that old adage "don't bash it unless you try it"

    Helix FAQ

L6 will you be offering any package deals for L2t speaker with Helix such as the one currently being offered with the HD500x? I already have my helix pre ordered and Im thinking about buying an L2t but the price tag seems so hefty after the 1500$ already being put down for the Helix.
  20. Personally if I'm being picky I would like to hear some straight amp sounds and then a building of a path including basic settings one by one including EQ, delay, distortion, etc and then comboing some together. The ONE THING that I REALLY want to see is a player using it in a real live band scenario actually changing the settings with their feet. Honestly even if this was just slightly better than the HD500x sound wise but really nailed this editing with feet concept I would still be very interested even at this price point. I think this ability of the helix is in every advertisement as its most important User interface feature but we have never seen it in action. This is one aspect that really draws me to the helix and I'm sure I'm not alone on this is the ability to edit tone/volume/effect on the fly. You could just send me mine early and I will be glad to make the video at a live show ;)
  21. Personally I think if the amp models are realistic and sound good and there is at least 1 or 2 amazing effects in each category I'm happy. I'm more about quality than quantity. Realistically I probably won't use every sound in it. I do hope that the synth sound sounds good.

    Helix FAQ

Alright lets take a poll, how many nerds learned the line 6 luxury clean sample note for note mostly because you've memorized it without noticing?
  23. Look I get it. It is expensive, given not 2000$ where I live but the 1500$ I put down wasn't easy. It seems like you already have a judgement about line 6 sounds in the helix based on your experience with other line 6 products. One of my first amps was line 6 and I admit that some of the spiders and earlier amp models sounded extremely brittle and unlistenable. However my more recent experience hearing line 6 stuff has convinced me otherwise. I have had my M13 for years now and I have to say it is one of the best purchases Ive ever made. Sound wise this thing is anything but brittle. Some effects are better than others yes, but say the Tube Drive is the most authentic sounding distortion in a multifx I've ever heard and actually beats out many boutique pedals that I've heard in quality. The delays, reverbs, compression, and some of the filters are really awesome as well. Since then I've heard demos of the HD500 and 500x and I have to say that in the world of 500$ and under pedals that do the trick, there is no other company on the market that is competing. The one time I bought a Boss multifx unit, I ended up returning it same day it was such a bad interface and sounded so terrible. I guess what I'm saying is this company has impressed me enough with their recent products to earn my trust and thats why I have the Helix pre ordered. My M13 was under 500$ and I am a happy camper with it. Ive seen pros such as Oz Noy live using his M13. If this thing is $1500, it is that price for a reason. Now as far as samples of the helix goes; While there is a ton of plexi sounds coming through in samples, I think the fact is that there are also great examples of clean tones, delays, filters, and distortions so far already in the samples as well. The clean track of Sean playing in the office video sounds amazing to my ears. I haven't heard a tone so far that I didn't like on these videos and clips and personally I think they have done a good job of listening to their customers and doing their best to release what people want to hear. You can distinctly see in this forum that after all the plexiness, people wanted to hear clean tones and metal tones. So line 6 released the 6 tracks with exactly that. Now people are saying, well we want to hear this this and that. Hey I understand its a lot of cash. Obviously you are not happy with the sounds you've heard so far. And if you think you can create the tones we've heard with a DI box and a nice rig, by all means save yourself the money. Personally based on the sounds I've heard and the flexibility in the IO and having everything right there in one neat shiny pedal board with a great user interface sounds pretty awesome to me. As a professional player I deem this worth pre ordering, but everybody's different.
