  1. it sounds like while the Helix may be the Ultimate Weapon for recording in a studio that the live experience for the guitar player is quite different. I saw Steve Vai recently with his tube amps on stage and I was in the fourth row. if he was running a modeler instead would my experience from the fourth row have been more like listening in the control booth at a recording studio as opposed to a live concert?
  2. interesting. Yes I don't have a jcm800 but I was hoping somebody out there would have done such a comparison already since the Helix is so popular. So do they say how the Helix models were mic'd up? In the design of the models would it have made sense to create them in an anechoic chamber with a dummy head? I'm really wondering how different they sound and if that visceral response from a tube amp is close with a modeler. A couple of questions please does helix have noticeable latency compared to plugging Direct in an amp? how is the feeling and response different one a helix model compared to a tube amp? I know the way feedback performs differently. how close do you think the actual sound is to your amps if you try to dial in a popular sound on one of your amps? 80% there, 99% there Thanks again!
  3. Can you guys educate me about helix please? In a blind test with a JCM800 In your face and a Helix with an FRFR 4x12 monitor in your face (playing a les paul on both), can you tell the difference ? If so, what differences are there please? Latency, feel, sound quality or noise floor. Thanks for any replies. I have not seen any YouTube videos do such a blind comparison. Classic rock is my main interest fwiw. Both cabinets can get plenty loud.

it appears to stop at five years

    Helix warranty

What's the best way to keep a helix under warranty past 5 years? It seems very expensive to fix. What kinds of repair costs have people had?
  6. That is the point of having a helix imo.
  7. Doesn't helix have all those Marshall sounds?
  8. That would require modifying every patch right? I'm looking for a way to do it globally and it sounds like the jack does this.
  9. Thanks guys. Great info
  10. Sounds like it will do it. Maybe someone can confirm with a trivial test.
  11. I don't see anything in the manual about summing. Can someone setup a delay on left and a flanger on right and see what comes out of the left output?

    Power of helix?

Thanks for the great info. That helps a lot.
  13. Ahh, that's very nice. Thanks for the info.
  14. Is there a way to set pan on the left and right outputs? If you have stereo patches but the PA has poor dispersion, can you reduce the spread or even make them mono?

    Power of helix?

Thanks of the screenshot. Why do you run multiple verbs, delays and modulation together?

    Power of helix?

Can anyone post some screenshots of some involved patches in helix? I have read about the limits of IR and cab combinations but I'm wondering how many blocks people are able to use. Comps, verbs, delays etc on both stereo paths. Thanks guys!
  17. Thanks for the reply. That's great news. I was reading about stereo only reverb and thought Helix might force reverb or delay on both channels. I think I nned to move into a helix from my tonelab le.
  18. Is it possible to only have FX in just one channel. Like if I want a touch of reverb or delay in just the left channel? Thanks!
