  1. It's very relevant because the is really like half a helix with it's 8 blocks. Everything else is 95% the same so an amp in one for example has the same features across all boxes.
  2. On my stomp xl I set my vol pedal min max to -10 and 0 in the controller for the output and use the tap tempo to mute.
  3. Thanks,. I save them in snapshot mode currently using hx edit but the stomp xl still boots to preset mode.
  4. Thank you for the reply. I keep forgetting to mention I'm on a stomp XL. I will try to be more diligent about being clear about what unit I have. On my stomp XL when I power off in snapshot mode it boots up in preset mode and was hoping to find a way to be in snapshots.
  5. When I turn off my stomp I am in snapshot mode but when I turn it on it comes back in preset mode. Just wondering if there's any way to have it start back up into snapshot mode? No big deal but would be great. Crazy workarounds accepted!

    My new pedalboard

I finally got my stomp XL set up exactly how I want it and thought I'd share. Super portable and simple. https://postimg.cc/7bXt96Qz https://postimg.cc/JGn62L92
  7. Unfortunately I'm in the stomp xl world with only 8 blocks available but would love to try stomp friendly versions if possible. Doggy says you can do it ! :-)
  8. Line 6 should hire you to make the default presets. So musical !!! Thanks ! Kiss the dog for me.
  9. You got it. With four cable method you plug your guitar into the input of the stomp and then your stomp left send goes to the input of your amp. Then the send from the amp goes to the left return of the stomp and then the left output of the stomp goes to the return of the amp. You have additionally taken your right output and send it to your fender guitar input. By having your split you can have snapshots toggle between the two and have a very flexible setup.

    Usb recording

True all reasonable choices. I just recently used a labeler and packing tape to really get permanent labels on my cables so I could easily replug them. No spdif on stomp xl. Thanks again for the useful ideas. I love the tiny size of this and don't see myself ever going bigger. Maybe even smaller though.

    Usb recording

Thanks for the ideas. I have my stomp wired in 4 cable to my amp and was hoping to seamlessly use the usb but it appears the feature is a no go with my setup. Thanks for the ideas.

    Usb recording

Thanks for the reply. So it seems stomp xl has no solution in the windows world? Wow, real bummer. I would get a mac if I didn't have 30 years of windows apps I use. I understand about native but was hoping to use all the stomp xl.

    Usb recording

I have an rme 9652 computer audio interface and record in daw Reaper. I have installed the driver's for my stomp xl and the channels all show up in the device selection but there seems to be no way to use both at the same time. Since my monitors sound comes from the the 9652 I don't see any way to record / reamp my stomp xl. I tried the ASIO4ALL and the latency was too high. If I run audio cables into the 9652 there is no easy way to reamp. Any ideas please?

    Change globals?

Nice. Thanks all of you guys for the great information. This is really helpful. By the way I love this little stomp XL especially now that I have two Dunlop DVP5 expression pedals keeping it company

    Change globals?

Right but I was talking about output impedance

    Change globals?

Will do. Thanks. I wish there was a way to put a signature in here where I could put my setup. Are you saying the output impedance is 1M ? Wouldn't that be high?

    Change globals?

Thanks but my sends are currently used. I don't need them at the same time. I just uplug the output to the guitar amp and plug it into my interface. I was hoping to change the globals output state per preset using command center though. If I use line level and turn the volume down and run that output into my tube amp it will sound the same as if it's an instrument level? Does global output inst and line level both have the same output impedance?

    Change globals?

Sorry I wasn't clear but it is a stomp xl in 4 cable mode for the dsl40

    Change globals?

I'm feeding the output into a Marshall DSL 40 amp and other times plugging the output to a PreSonus digimax FX line input. The instrument inputs are being used.

    Change globals?

So are you saying that if I use line level and turn the volume down and run that output into my tube amp it will sound the same as if it's an instrument level? That they both will have the same output impedance.

    Change globals?

Won't that change the output impedance though by changing instrument to line level and vice versa?
  22. Since helix was designed with passive pickup guitars,. what do I need to know when using my bass with active pickups regarding the input impedance? Global Settings > Preferences / Auto In-Z set to Enabled in Stomp XL. Input Settings Page 2 Knob 1 In-Z HX Stomp has an impedance circuit on its Main L/R inputs that affects tone and feel by loading your guitar's pickups as they would by an effect pedal or amplifier. A lower value will typically result in some high frequency attenuation, lower gain, and an overall "softer" feel. A higher value provides full frequency response, higher gain, and an overall "tighter" feel. When set to “Enabled,” the impedance circuit reflects the impedance of the first enabled block in the signal path

    Change globals?

Is there any way to change the globals like for example the global output by using command center commands or some other way? I want to toggle the instrument and line level output based on the presets.
  24. Thanks so much. It's my pleasure for you to use the info. Feel free to shoot me a link for a copy of the book too. :-). I've been following you for decades and remember so many of your articles including one that I thought was just so amazing. It was called "Things that keep you from making music" . Ring a bell?
  25. I had great success with this Nick Hill video after hours of failure on my own. Can anyone tell me why my Ibanez ATK305 bass with active pickups sounds better at 32K ohm input impedance than using Auto for In-Z ? Auto takes the Impedance of the first enabled block and applies it right (Global Settings > Preferences / Auto In-Z set to Enabled in Stomp XL)? So is there a way for it to take into account the low impedance active pickups or what's the best way to deal with this ? Also, is there a reason some bass amps don't have sag/bias/hum/ripple settings ? Thanks as always for the great info ! The guitar sounds on my stomp xl are killing it atm but I was hoping I could also use this for bass. Thanks to this video I see that I can.
