After going through each Legacy effect I now know which are stereo and which are not. Some are simply Mono while others take Mono and make Stereo. I hope this helps others. You can test yourself with the attached preset. Just bypass the delay to test mono and enable it to test stereo and give a quick thwack to the guitar and mute it. Look at a goniometer and you can easily see what's mono and stereo. Thanks for the great replies. I really like the Dimension and Tri Chorus Legacy fx. The upgraded Stereo Trinity Chorus is great too.
-
Since I have the stomp connected to my Reaper DAW I'll just put a stereo analyzer on and see which ones are mono and which ones are not. It would have been nice though if there was an icon for legacy effects to indicate it
-
Can I please get a simple list that tells me which legacy effects are stereo or mono please? All I see in the manual is this. Legacy effects models vary in behavior: Legacy Distortion, Dynamics & Pitch/Synth effects are mono Legacy Modulation & Delay effects vary in that some are mono, some stereo, and some mono-in/stereo-out, where adjusting the effect’s Mix parameter can narrow the stereo image that is fed into them Legacy Filter and Reverb effects are stereo
-
Is there a description anywhere that better describes the legacy fx Mono, Stereo THRU/Stereo, Stereo THRU/Mono and True Stereo?

Interesting https://helixhelp.wordpress.com/2017/04/19/tip-global-guitar-pad/ Also, I think this might be wrong in the HX Edit manual on Page 37. Similarly, HX Stomp XL and Stomp devices include an Input block - Input Level option. You can set this to Pad/Instrument or Line level option per preset, or set to Global, which then allows the level to be set to Pad/Instrument or Line level via the device’s Global Settings - Ins Outs - Input Level option I think Pad/Instrument or Line level should be Instrument or Pad/Line level because the line level has the effect of padding the input as described correctly in the HX Stomp XL manual on page 56 below. Choose “Inst[rument]” when connecting a guitar, bass, or stompboxes to HX Stomp XL’s input jack(s); choose “Line” when connecting synths, drum machines, the sends from mixers, or other line-level sources. If your guitar or bass has really loud active pickups (or if you just happen to prefer the sound of a “padded” input level for your instrument), choose “Line” - Or, just try both and trust your ears. I also verified that the Stomp XL input set on Inst is hotter than Line by a few dB. I also verified that Guitar Pad in HX Edit has the same effect where Off is like Inst, On is like Line and Global uses the Global input setting of Inst or Line.

Sounds like a very useful feature if I apply it correctly. Thanks again I really appreciate it

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the info

Are dynamics splits only good for more similar sounds and styles as opposed to going from a choppy dry distortion Rock pattern to a very smooth legato reverb sound where I'm seeing this problem?
-
Thanks for the reply. I'm aware of the workarounds with snapshots and controller parameters but I was hoping the dynamic splits would work
-
I setup a dynamic split in hx edit and was trying to alternate between a dry hard rock sound on Path A and a reverby thing on Path B. I found the docs for hx edit are backwards for my stomp xl and I had to put reverse ON for the levels above threshold to hit path A and below threshold to hit path B. I also found no matter how I set threshold, attack and decay I could not get it to work musically where I could be chopping power chords and the play slower passages and transition to the reverby path B. I'm open to any ideas as this would be sweet to use. Also is it possible to have more than 1 split on a stomp xl? Thanks!
-
Working great. I forgot I had to assign the mix controller to snapshots !
-
Brilliant! Combining that with dynamic split gives MANY sounds per snapshot. Really amazing. Thanks!!!

Page 46 of the stomp xl manual says "Moving the expression pedal automatically enables (or bypasses) the block.". I got it working but wondered. Is there a way using SNAPSHOTS to control bypass using my exp1 pedal like this? Snapshot 1. Control wah enable/disable Snapshot 2 Control flanger enable/disable 3. Another block 4. Another block Thanks!
-
The developers did tell you about it. Right in the manual
-
Thanks for the ideas. I really love the idea of the stomp xl and one pedal. I'm over 10 hours trying so far. Josh with Line6 support is also trying to help. Some of the things that could be so simple can be so elusive. I really hope someone cracks this nut ! Grrrrrr

Thank you again for the ideas. This is not in my Stomp XL Global Settings-> 'MIDI/Tempo' -> 'Duplicate PC Send' I swapped the 20 ft midi cable I was using for loopback for a 1 foot one I soldered up and HX Edit is working now and not crashing. Must have beens some "time domain reflectometery" going on there. :-) No luck getting the wah to work though. The Multi Input block gets the focus though when I press switch FS 7. I had started the Stomp XL with the loopback already connected. With EXP/FS Tip set to FS7 the wah on EXP1 never gets controlled by the volume pedal. With the FS 7 held down and EXP/FS Tip set to EXP 1 I can make it jump if I keep FS 7 latched on. Tip Polarity set to Inverted and Normal just makes EXP1 jump around from 100 down to about 70 or from 0 to about 30.

Thanks for the preset. Unfortunately the Stomp XL doesn't want to play nice. My goal is to have the Exp2 and Exp1 switch for my Dunlop DVP5 when snapshot changed but it seems the stomp doesn't support the CC commands. So my next goal was to use FS7 to switch but no luck there either. If I do MIDI LOOPBACK I get flashing of the wah block and it goes offline until I restart HX Edit. It does not seem possible to do either way (snapshot preferable). I'm open to any other ideas and thanks in advance.

Here is my setup............ Dunlop DVP5 with invert switch pressed in expression pedal Global Settings > Preferences EXP/FS Tip FS7 EXP/FS Ring Exp 2 Tip Polarity Normal Ring Polarity Inverted for DVP5 pedal to control Volume block normally Global Settings > Footswitches FS7 Function ToggleExp ........used for switch on FS 7 FS8 Function ToggleExp ........used for Exp 2 on ring of insert Global Settings > EXP Pedals EXP 1 Position Global EXP 2 Position Global When FS7 is momentarily closed I see the Stomp XL display "EXP 1 Active" and with each switch it toggles between "EXP 2 Active" and "EXP 1 Active" When I connect my midi out to midi in HX Edit goes offline and says "reconnect" at the bottom but won't come back online. Disconnecting the midi loop fixes that. Global Settings > Midi Midi Thru Off RxMidi Clock Off Tx Midi Clock Off USB Midi On Midi PC Rx MIDI+USB Midi PC Tx MIDI+USB Snapshot CC Send ON (tried both on and off) Also, Snapshot CC Send does not appear to be documented anywhere. Attached is my preset I've been testing on. Vol Wah swap.hlx

Thanks for the reply. There seem to be a few issues. 1. ToggleEXP isn't working on my stomp xl. I can toggle footswitch 7 and getthe display to show Exp 1 Active and Exp 2 active. But control of my volume pedal on Ring of my insert cable [exp2, fs8) Never passes from the volume block to controlling the wah block. All globals are set correctly. 2. Cc59 isn't supported in Stomp xl but only in helix. This is really crappy. Having this tiny stomp xl and being forced to use 2 expression pedals is silly when a bit of code can fix it.

Thanks so much for the detailed reply. That worked ! (DISABLE "MIDI PC Tx".) My amp is a Marshall DSL40CR. I really appreciate the help
-
My amp learns what midi channel to respond to based on the 1st midi message it receives when in learn mode. I was sending PC instant commands on midi channel 2 today and my amp would not learn it. I monitored it in Reaper and it showed the Stomp was sending a PC on midi channel 1 ALSO. When trying to teach a midi device what channel to respond to is there a way to turn the Midi Channel 1 off ? I ended up sending a PC on midi channel 2 from Reaper into the amp to teach it but it took me an hour to figure it out. Thanks for any ideas.
-
TogglEXP didn't work either as posted above. I'm lost and will appreciate any help please.
-
Thanks. I hope it's possible because then I'll be able to use this as just a stomp xl and volume pedal. Talk about a nice small package.
-
My setup is a Dunlop DVP5 on the RING of an insert cable with nothing on the TIP. I have FS7 and FS8 in globals set to TogglEXP but when I short the TIP the display says "EXP 1 Active" but my wah on EXP 1 still doesn't get controlled by my pedal but the volume block on EXP 2 is still controlling POSITION. My goal is to swap EXP2 with EXP1 on my pedal so I can control wah and do this sending an Instant Command on snapshot change.
