  6. Sweet - on way home to update and enjoy. just got native to, much to set up and play around with thanks again
  7. Just seen this post - says it all.. thanks
  8. Yay. Just noticed on the trouble shoot page, it says to reboot in update mode after performing a reset - is that correct? or is that step not needed for 'Restore stock presets and setlists' Rack - ENC1 & ENC6 - will enter Update Mode thanks silverhead - tedious stuff to write about i know but just wanting to make the process clear simple for anyone else from this point onwards Thanks for all your help with highlighting it in the first place
  9. thanks Silverhead for absolute clarity on this.Much appreciated For Rack... turn off the Controller Step 1. Install Editor 2.51 which also installs the new updater https://uk.line6.com/software/ Step 2. Perform Full back up in the Editor Software. Then Close the HX Editor.. Step 3. update to FW 2.5 - using the Line 6 Updater that came bundled with the Editor2.51 download. Once update has finished, it will Rebuild presets - message on screen. Step 4. Update Controller Once rebuild has finished - turn on Controller - asked to update controller - YES Step 5 . SWITCH OFF the Helix unit. Then Restore stock presets and setlists Rack User - hold down ENC3 & 4 whilst booting up to restore stock presets and setlists. For LT/Helix Floor - Holding footswitch 7+8 on boot restores presets and setlists. Helix Effects - There is no option for restore stock presets and setlists??? Maybe - Perform factory restore (reset, Globals, IRs, and Presets)?? Dont need a full factory reset as the settings are aready correct as they are?? Not sure about IR as i dont use them yet. See following link for settings for your device, Floor-LT/Rack/Effects. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/helix/helixltfx-reset-procedures-and-troubleshootin-r768 Step 6. Restore your own saved presets/setlists from the back up in step 2, Restore your own saved presets/setlists only - Leave the Factory presets and Globals uncheked as the new Factory Presets are already now installed, and your original globals are already set up. Step 7. SWITCH OFF Helix and Turn back ON Rebuilding of presets will commence. (Optional - Step 8. Perform Full back up or just back up the New Factory presets.) Correct?
  10. For sure but a lot of contradicting steps and methods been written about today. I wanted absolute clarity once and for all. Why doesn't line 6 just put the steps clearly in the release notes... ffs!
  11. Clarity of the steps is needed... as I'm seeing many posts on different forum pages all contradicting each other
  12. Thanks silverhead. For clarity silverhead may I ask how do we get the new presets if the update doesn't replace the old factory presets with the new ones? What are the steps to achieve that? It seems odd we are asked to make a backup if actually once we have updated we go on to find all our settings and presets are intact and thus no need to do a restore from back up is needed.... is that correct? But how do we load the new factory presets. There is nothing in the release notes about this update process not giving us the new factory presets. Thanks for you help much appreciated. When I updated to 2.3 I noticed all my setting and presets remained intact so I didn't restore from back up as no need to it seemed, but i also never performed any extra steps to get the new factory presets, if any extra steps are necessary?... does that mean my version 2.3 never actually had any new factory presets from 2.3 ? this causing bit confusion about how the update process works b4 i update later this eve...thanks for your help. If there are extra steps could line 6 publish that in the firmware release notes please...
  13. Haha i want the t shirt even tho i dont totally agree.Yep but i still want to be able to go straight to the new presets rather than trawl thru them trying to figure out the new ones...just a list of the new presets on the notes of each firmware update page would help and be easy for line 6 to do... And actually a lot of those presets contain a lot of cool ideas within the patches if you go through them and see how they have been set up... and then steal those good ideas to make your own presets. Sometimes the preset might sound wank but within it there is an fx or amp set up that I like or path set up that reveals something new to use later. But sure there are a lot of presets that suck too haha
  14. Yes to this. I seem to remember there was someone out there who was highlighting the new presets/ changes for each firmware and posting it.... anyway know what the link is for this and has it been kept up to date?
  15. As the HX effects was sold as having all the features of FW2.5 in the advertising and in the manual, it had to have fw2.5 available for download from the moment it became available to be sold otherwise Line 6 would have broken some laws....So you can see what happened. Fw2.5 for HX effects was made available and hence at the same time line 6 said hey everyone else who owns a helix you will be getting all these features soon! I guess on the run up to namm line 6 were all in on making sure they met the legal requirement for HX effects to have a bug free version of fw2.5 available, but understandably there wasn't enough time to test the firmware for all the other helix products. When it's ready it's ready totally fine with me. Also hx effects doesn't have the amp models and cabs so there maybe some bugs found there around how the amps and cabs work with all the new stuff. May be?
  16. Thanks. I will get a Ex-p and give it a try. I might be selling my mission pedal soon!
  17. Good to see this post has turned itself around and people applauding the line 6 helix team... they deserve all of the congrats and praise for what they have done and are doing with project helix... and big applause also to the line 6 helix community on this forum and others, ie all of you guys and gals, for all the effort so many people have put into sharing ideas and information and problem solving and supporting the whole helix experience...
  18. 1000% agree... People get off line 6 backs and this nonsense about when updates arrive, just get on with your life's and actually making music until an email lands in your inbox saying the firmware has been released. Enjoy!
  19. Just a thought sign up to get an email from Line 6 for when new firmware lands.... and then get on with your lifes!!!... enjoy
  20. The pdf below of the legacy models is also worth a quick look alongside the HX effects manual. https://line6.com/m1...elgallery02.pdf https://line6.com/da... - English .pdf
  21. I don't get water ripples on my rack, i cannot speak for the floor or LT... Any worries about your device not functioning properly create a Line 6 support ticket... they are very helpful
  22. Yes.... what we know about 2.5 seems to be the complete opposite of controversial.... rather it feels like a great gift. Is the controversy L6 spoke of maybe that they worried some people might find the legacy fx meant there are too many fx or people might feel non hx effects have no place in helix? Personally I have found the current HD reverbs and wahs in helix to be very useable and good sounding and as such I'm looking forward to trying out the additional legacy fx in 2.5. If there is any controversy to be found when we boot up 2.5, it may be that the new HX reverbs are quite dsp intensive... Maybe if your using an Hx reverb with a dsp juicy amp plus a few hx effects we will quickly run into dsp limits on one path. Then people will start being creative running fx across both paths to best utilise the two processors, one per path, and then maybe a slight controversy might arise if people find themselves having to reach for the legacy fx in place of hx effects when they running out of available dsp... I have read about reverbs over the past year and it seems getting great sounding reverbs requires a lot of processing power... And if that were the case then I would applaud L6 for doing a proper job on the reverbs, as a dsp juicy reverb should mean a great rich sounding reverb... and I would also applaud L6 for providing the legacy fx as a solution to the possibility of easily reaching dsp limits when using the hx reverbs... if they do indeed turn out to be a bit dsp juicy anyway?... indeed they may just be giving us the legacy fx purely because they can and they know we will love it and nothing to do with the verbs hitting the dsp usage... but I'm only musing here as I can't see anything controversial about 2.5.. on paper it's a pure gift.... but we will see... I'm already very happy with 2.3 and native... 2.5 bring it on... 3.0 will be interesting to see the future direction.... and I wonder what they conjuring up with the new team they just added to the L6 modelling alchemists... My only wishes is to see moveable mic placement on the cabs... and metering throughout the signal path... o'll and better copy cut paste of effects/amp blocks... Enjoy
  23. Thanks @riffyrafemetal http://line6.com/support/topic/31606-legacy-fx-that-are-not-already-in-helix-i-think-do-you-agree/?p=242583 Just a Note: There is a Chandler Tube driver in FW2.3 called Valve Driver, the legacy version in FW2.5 being Tube Drive. And there is a HX Ping Pong delay in FW2.3 and a Legacy version in FW2.5 Also whilst the Adriatic Swell could be classed as being similar to the Auto Vol echo, People are saying they find them different. The Legacy Modulation FX contains Analog Flanger and AC Flanger, both are based on the MXR 117 Flanger - There is an HX version called Gray Flanger in FW2.3 https://line6.com/m1...elgallery02.pdf Similarly the Legacy Modulation FX contains Jet Flanger and 80A Flanger - both are based on the A/DA Flanger - There is an HX version called Harmonic Flanger Lastly Helix has a Pan option in Volume/Pan Models, and there is a legacy Panner in FW2.5 which is an L6 Original
  24. Thank you to you too. your work over past couple years has been exemplary... Just a Note: There is a Chandler Tube driver in FW2.3 called Valve Driver, the legacy version in FW2.5 being Tube Drive. And there is a HX Ping Pong delay in FW2.3 and a Legacy version in FW2.5 Also whilst the Adriatic Swell could be classed as being similar to the Auto Vol echo, People are saying they find them different. The Legacy Modulation FX contains Analog Flanger and AC Flanger, both are based on the MXR 117 Flanger - There is an HX version called Gray Flanger in FW2.3 https://line6.com/m13/images/m13_modelgallery02.pdf Similarly the Legacy Modulation FX contains Jet Flanger and 80A Flanger - both are based on the A/DA Flanger - There is an HX version called Harmonic Flanger Lastly Helix has a Pan option in Volume/Pan Models, and there is a legacy Panner in FW2.5 which is an L6 Original
  25. Yes that would be expected, gives you options if you hit a DSP limit to use a less intensive FX from the legacy group. Also not all legacy FX are available in stereo - taken from the HXFX manual Legacy effects models vary in behavior, just as on the classic Line 6 effects from where these models originated. • Legacy Distortion, Dynamics & Pitch/Synth effects are mono. • Legacy Modulation & Delay effects vary in that some are mono, some stereo, and some mono-in/stereo-out, where adjusting the effect's Mix parameter can narrow the stereo image that is fed into them. It is best to experiment with these effects and tweak the Mix parameter to achieve the desired stereo output results. • Legacy Filter and Reverb effects are stereo.
