  1. That looks like the same cable that you'd use for a Varix, in which case, if you search for 'EtherCon' cables, you will find them in lengths up to at least 200'. Note that I didn't want to spend $40 on the Variax cable, so I bought a cheaper 10' EtherCon cable. The cable works fine, but it's pretty stiff compared to a regular guitar cable. YMMV depending on brand.
  2. You can put a looper before the Helix (Guitar > Looper > Helix), inline via an FX Loop (Guitar > Helix > FX Loop to Looper > Helix), or after the Helix (Helix > Out > Looper > Speakers). Where you put it depends on what you can do with it. I have a Stereo looper (JamMan Solo XT). I output the Helix Main Outs to the JamMan, then out to a Mixer. I can select a Preset, record a Loop, then select a different Preset (or Snapshot, effects in the current Preset, etc...) and overdub the first loop with that. Is that what you're trying to do?
  3. My understanding is you want one guitar input, then the signal to be processed by some effects, then the signal to split with one 'copy' going through the SansAmp, then to the Mixer, while the second 'copy' of the signal bypasses the SansAmp and goes to your (virtual) Amps on Path 2. Is that the short of it? You can't Send a signal at one point in the chain and Insert it back later in the chain. You have to use the FX Loop to Send/Return it all in one block if you want to bring the signal back into the Helix. I made this mistake, too. Did you look at the file I posted? I'm thinking: Input > Path 1 w/ Effects (assuming same effects go to Mixer and your Amps) After Effects on Path 1: --Split Path 1 to 1a > Output to Path 2A+2B --Split Path 1 to 1b > Output to XLR > Mixer (You can use an FX Loop on Path 1b to go to your SansAmp, and yes, you can output Path 1 to Path 2 and to the XLR) Path 2a Input (from 1a) (Amp1 is on this path) Path 2b Input (from 1a) (Amp2 is on this path) --Merge back into Path 2 Output to 1/4"
  4. I may be mis-understanding what you're trying to do, but take a look at the attached preset. You can split Path 1 before the effects and send Path 1A to Path 2 and Path 1B directly to the XLRs. You do need to add 'something' to Path 1B, but it could be something like an flat EQ, Vol, or Gain. Then you have 2 'Amp Channels' in Path 2, and you can add additional Sends/Returns where (if?) needed, with the final Outs going to either Sends or 1/4", whichever works for you. Hope this helps. Edit - Whoops - In the attached preset, the Output of Path 1A should be to Path 2A+2B, not just 2A. New Preset.hlx
  5. Odd... I don't recall it ever flashing red before I connected the BeatBuddy (I thought it was always blue, but I could be wrong...), but maybe... I did turn it off completely as one of the first things I did w/ the Helix, then turned it back on as a visual indicator that it was in-sync w/ the BB. Thanks for the reply!
  6. Cyber Monday Sale! WooHoo! Almost bought it for $99 the other day! https://shop.line6.com/software/helix-native.html
  7. Not really familiar w/ the issue, but does increasing the Digital Out in Global Settings do anything?
  8. Is the Helix end of the cable the same as in the US? Maybe something like this 'Courtesy Plug'? https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/1SpotACYUS--truetone-acy-us-courtesy-plug-iec-cable Add a USB Power Adapter to the US plug that can handle the 240v (many, though not all, will) and use a USB cable to power the G10s via the USB jack on the back. (Ex - https://smile.amazon.com/Certified-Charger-FONKEN-Universal-Compatible/dp/B07DF782WQ/ref=sr_1_22?keywords=240v+usb+power+adapter&qid=1575241898&sr=8-22) I have one of those Furman conditioning power supplies (as well as a Fender rack-mounted unit), but neither helped with the line noise issue I was having (ended up buying a HumX that did the trick). But, a surge suppressor is still a good idea. A small one can go in any bag: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-BSV102af-SurgeCube-Surge-Protection/dp/B00OLTJSZY?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_1&sa-no-redirect=1&pldnSite=1
  9. I've had the Helix for about a month. Occasionally, I see the tempo LED change color from blue to red. I have a BeatBuddy connected via Midi. If I change the tempo on the BeatBuddy, it resets the color to blue. It seems that the red color means something, but I'm not sure what, or what's triggering it (maybe selecting a specific Preset?). I don't see anything in the manual about the colors, just the ability to turn it off/on. Thanks for any tips!
  10. Thanks, guys... Looks like I'm basically going to have to do it manually. Meaning I need to rename the Titles of files back to the Filenames, de-dupe, then import the IRs, then Import the Presets one by one and figure out which IR(s) are supposed to be assigned to what and fix them manually. Once they're all in, I can take a backup, but that will only work for me. I can't share that backup w/o it overwriting other people's current settings.
  11. I'm still kind of new to the Helix, but was just trying to download a few Presets and IRs and ran into a snag (2, actually). 1) It seems that the Preset references the IRs by Slot Number rather than name. So, if you have a Preset and load the IR into a slot that doesn't match the original slot on the creator's Helix, you have to 'fix' it. Is there any way to change this? 2) When importing an IR, the name being imported doesn't always match the FileName. It actually seems to me that it matches the Title property of the file. I'm guessing if someone creates an IR called ABC.wav, it set the Title of the file to ABC. Then, if they edit it and save it as XYZ.wav, it changes the filename, but not the Title of the file, which is still 'ABC' (see attached pic for a real example). At least, that's the only reason I can think of for why this may happen. Any way around this, short of renaming the IRs after they've been imported? I'd like to import ~25-30 IRs that are part of a bundle w/ Presets from Seacow that I'd like to check out, and it's already a PITA to go back and re-link them to the associated Presets (See #1 above). Any easier way to manage this? . Thanks in advance! -Lee
  12. Are you using the data cable or the standard 1/4" cable from the Variax to the Helix? I just downloaded one of his Presets, and the Input is set to 'Variax', which would be the data cable. If you're using a 1/4" cable, you won't hear anything.
  13. I read your post last night, but being somewhat new to the Helix, and knowing next to nothing about vocal processing, I figured someone that knows better than me might have an idea, but since no one else replied yet, I'll make a suggestion... I don't think the 'Impedance Transformer' you linked is what you need - at no point are you connecting a Mic out to a Instrument or Line in. The 1/4" to XLR cable is worth a shot (to connect the Helix Send to the VE's Mic input). I would set the output of the Send that you're using to connect to the VE's XLR Input to Line Level, then experiment with turning down the 'Send' value on the Helix block and adjusting the Mic Sensitivity on the VE-500 to see if you get an acceptable signal. If you don't get a good signal, you may need a DI Box (in which case, you'll probably still need that XLR Cable). Something like this one comes in handy for things like this https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DualRDB--art-dual-rdb-2-channel-passive-re-amping-device Note that you still need to set the Output of the Send of the Guitar signal to the VE to Instrument. So, for example, you'll set Send/Return 1 to Instrument for the Guitar signal out, Send/Return 2 to Line for the Vocals out, and then Sends 3/4 to Line Level for your IEMs.
  14. Just an update to some of the above... I think I figured out the problem w/ my 'Test' Pre-set - I can't have one send and then 2 separate returns later in the chain. So, using the wiring as I described in my notes and combining my Send and Return for 1/2 into single FX Loop, I can send the signal back to the cab on Send 3/4, add additional amp/cab models after the Send to the signal chain (if I want) and use the XLR mains to go directly to the Mixer. I can work with this as my 'basic' template, though. One issue I did have with the above is that I now can't use any of the Factory Presets with internal Amp models w/o adding an FX Loop on 1/2 to the signal chain - I just can't seem to get any output to the XLR Mains without it in the chain. I'm a bit befuddled as to why I need this FX Loop, as long as the final Output is set to 'Multi' or at least the XLRs? Oh, and I also spent a couple of hours this afternoon re-wiring my entire rack and finally found the source of the ground loop hum that was bugging me on and off for a couple of years now! So, 'Yay' for that! if anyone has any other tips, I'm all ears! Thanks again for reading. -Lee
  15. Hi, all! I just got a Helix Floor, and have been experimenting w/ what I can do w/ it. I also have a Yamaha THR100D (Dual Head) modeling amp, which I like very much. What I'd eventually like to do is feed both the THR100D and the Helix into a Mixer (w/ a built-in Digital Interface), along w/ a mic, drum machine/backing tracks, etc... (I'm doing this for fun, and am not a pro at any of it.) Out of curiosity, I was also looking at the possibilities that I have in controlling the Amp and Mixer from the Helix itself (this thing looks pretty powerful!), allowing me to swap between amp channels, Helix internal effects vs. those on the Amp, channels on the Mixer, etc.... Again, no particular need, just seeing what's possible at this stage, but at a basic level: - Best method to physically connect to the THR100D for Presets that use it exclusively, and best way to insert it into my Preset. - Ability to send the out from one guitar to either an internal Amp/Cab or either channel of the external Yamaha THR100D, possibly w/ switching via the Helix based on Preset, Snapshot, Stomp, etc... I can probably do this in one of 2 ways - one cable from the Helix to Input 1 of the THR100D and switch it there (possibly controlled from the Helix), or 2 cables from the Helix to the front of amp and control which is getting signal internally in the Helix. - Ability to route the final (stereo?) out of the Preset to the Mixer (and/or Phones). If the output goes through the THR100D, the line-out from the amp is direct to the Mixer (this is how it was set up prior to me getting the Helix), so I would have 2 channels form the THR100D and / or 2 channels directly from the Helix into the Mixer. I may also want to send a dry signal to the amp as well if I start doing more recording, but that should be relatively simple to add (if I have any Sends left...) So, at this point, I'm trying to set up a Preset 'Template' for myself w/ the basics of how I would like the Helix to connect w/ the Amp and Mixer that I can build off of (adding effects, experimenting w/ Amps/Cabs, etc...), and (of course) have run into a few issues. I've attached a PDF w/ my notes on what I'm seeing along w/ what I think are the relative sections of the THR100D's manual. I'll also attach a copy of the current Preset I'm experimenting with if it helps. If anyone has any suggestions on how to proceed, I'd appreciate hearing them! BTW, I've reviewed what I can find on the 4CM (and 7CM), both in general and w/ the Helix, but in most cases the info is about a single-headed external amp w/ mono connections, or using dual amps internal to the Helix, so it's not exactly what I'm looking to do and I am probably missing something. Thanks in advance for any advice! -Lee Helix Notes.pdf Testing.hlx
