The only thing I can give you is my solidarity. I thing it’s time to Line6 admits they have, at least, a series of HX Effects with problems. For me the nightmare is over, I buy equipment from other brands and I very happy with them.

The audio artifacts post have been opened some hours ago, just closed recently. Myself have posted there. Why it's closed now? Too many complains?

I made a Y cable like this: two TRS jacks connected to the HX EXT Amp 1 and EXT Amp 2 only with ring and the sleeve solded on the jacks. On the amp I connect a TRS jack with the tip connected to the ring from HX EXT Amp 1 and the ring connected to the ring from HX EXT Amp 2. With this cable the Amp works well because there is NO VOLTAGE on the ring of the HX EXT Amp outputs. I maped one button to "1 ring" and other to "2 ring". But this is a workaround, what I need to know now is, why do I have 3 volts on the tip of the HX EXT Amp outputs. This is the normal behavior of the HX Effects or my unity have a defect? cdegardin Jul 17, 01:31 AM How did you connect it ? EXT AMP 1 and/or 2 must be assigned in the preferences of HX Effects (experiment with the Tip/Ring settings) Basic setup : 1. connect an instrument cable TS/TRS(TRS is necessary if you want to switch two functions) to PEDAL EXT AMP 1 and your amps footswitch connector 2. on HX Effects press Menu knob (the button with three bars right of SAVE) 3.press the switch FS3 under COMMAND CENTER 4.press the switch FS5 under the 6 footswitch icons to select the footswitch where you want to assign the function to (press it multiple times to step through the switches) 5.turn the upper Knob1 until the menu/display below it shows EXT AMP(Command), turn Knob2 to select 1 Tip or 1 Ring, or 1 T+R depending on your amp 6.Store the preset 7.this would switch the channel on your amp 8.if you want more switching (reverb, multiple amps) you can use the 2nd Pedal/EXT AMP Out 9.you can store this in a preset and you can also switch via snapshots or instant messages Unfortunately we don’t have that amp here to test. We did however test it with our Engle Fireball 100 and it worked just fine using either a TS or TRS cable with EXT amp switch to tip. Unfortunately this does not guarantee compatibility with all products. Note that, depending on the circuitry of the channel switching jack in the guitar amp used, the EXT Amp function may not operate as expected. The are some switching, but not as expected.

Always a costumer fault. The 3 volts at the tip it's user error too? We change from EXP Pedal to Amp in settings and nothing changes. For me it is enough, I will not admit any lack of respect, Line6 never as tried to understand if the costumer have been rigth about his complines. The support it's a crap as the device. When I talk about HX I'm refering to the HX Effects not Helix Native. The preset was created on HX Effects with 2.52 firmware, saved just as refered in the update instrutions and restored after the 2.60 update.

I get 3 Volts between the tip and the sleeve of the HX Effects EXT Amp jack. Do you experience the same?

I haved problems with saved presets too. One of them freezed the HX when I select it. The backup Line6 tells you to do before the update, is pointless if you need to delete your favorite preset to make the HX works. Maybe they need to put some "update at your on risk" alert in the update instrutions, more or less as they do with the Amp switching (no list of supported amps, just a statement like "tested with many popular amps but may not work with yours").

You can use instant messages to control the EXT Amp switching when you change snapshot or preset. Just program one snapshot with dirty configuration (i.e. Tip) and other(s) with the clean configuration (i.e. Ring). Go to Command Center to do that, or use the HX Edit (mutch better :-)). You need to change from one snapshot to another to change channels. If you have the amp pre on a HX FX Loop (maybe you have if you are using 4CM) you can program a button to bypass it (no led polarity problems), or a external pedal, or with a instant message just like the configuration above. In this case you can lose some Amp FX like the amp reverb when you bypass the FX loop.
