I won't be using a mic. I use the Helix as my amp emulator and go straight into Reaper by way of USB.
-
Yeah I have already connected my Helix to my computer using the USB cable and I've installed the drivers and Helix Edit. I'm all set to start recording as soon as I decide what to lay down.
-
I did some recording with my POD X3 before I bought my Helix and the recording quality was not too bad. I would like to get it better however. I have an EMU 1212m sound card in my computer which is probably obsolete and old by now. But I was wondering when I start recording with my Helix what determines the recording quality? Does the Helix act like an audio interface and thus the Helix will determine the recording quality? Or does my sound card still determine the quality? I was thinking I may have to pick a better audio interface to replace my aging sound card, but perhaps I won't if the Helix determines the sound quality.

I downloaded 4 boxes of Impulses from York Audio and I'm trying to understand the very last abbreviation or letters in the impulse. Here are some examples of what I'm looking at: YA MRSH 412 T75 57-CE1 YA MRSH 412 T75 57-CN YA MRSH 412 T75 57-CNE YA MRSH 412 T75 57-CNT YA MRSH 412 T75 57-FCN YA MRSH 412 T75 57-FOA YA MRSH 412 T75 57-OA The only thing I can come up with I'm guessing that those last few letters represents mic placement. Like maybe OA stands for Off Axis. I don't know about the other ones. If you can figure this out and post I would appreciate it.

But now that I know about clicking on the last block in the signal chain I was able to get it louder plus I should be able to increase the channel and master volume plus if I have to turn up the headphone knob.
-
I did tell you the name of the preset in one of my responses. Here is the link: https://line6.com/customtone/search/?submitted=1&family=helix&search_term=90's+Morphology

I have the Helix Rack.
-
I only play through my headphones. I don't have speakers or amps or anything like that hooked up to my Helix. I get a fantastic sound through my Sennheiser phones. I will try this preset output thing and I will post back if I have problems. Thank You.
-
I don't see anything in your first photograph that says multi. I see an icon of a quarter inch input jack. I click on that to adjust preset volume?
-
Where is the output section in the preset? Are you talking about the amp's master and channel volume? That's what I messed with. I think one preset that I could not change the volume on was one called 90's Morphology.
-
I've downloaded many patches from Custom Tone and with some patches I noticed that when I move the channel volume slider or even the master volume slider nothing happens. The volume stays the same. Why is that and is there a way to fix it?
-
I have determined already that the JCM-800 in the Helix is way better sounding than the one in the HD Pro X. So I am thankful for that.

I imported a preset called Judas Priest. On my rack's display it does not say Judas Priest though. It still says what it did when I first turned it one which is US Double Nrm. If it does save it to the rack why isn't the name Judas Priest displaying on the rack?
-
Oh use Export to send and save the preset to my hard drive's folder. Okay. So if I import a preset into HX Edit is it automatically saved to the rack?
-
It is saved where? If I import a preset into a blank slot the HX Edit will automatically save it for me without me doing anything? But I want to tell HX Edit that I want to save a preset to my Helix Presets folder on my D:\ drive. That way I will always have my presets saved in my folder on my hard drive. How do I accomplish that?
-
I imported a preset into User slot 01A and when I looked into the File Menu the Save Preset option is grayed out. Save Preset As is listed, but why is the Save Preset grayed out? If I use HX Edit to save my presets to my folder on my hard drive what is the procedure? Thank You.

Really guy... I am not installing drivers. I am not installing anything. And you are the troll.
-
I was wondering if you can use an actual stomp box with the Helix. Seems to me you can plug in a real stomp box with the Fractal. Was wondering if Helix allows you to do that.
-
I'm thinking strongly of ordering a Helix Rack and trying it out. I have already downloaded the newest drivers. Now I need to download the PC Online Editor. What is the name of it? Do I download Helix Native? Or is it HX Edit? Those are the only two choices.

I was wondering for those of you that own and use the Helix what does the Marshall JCM-800 sound like? I have an X3 and the JCM-800 sounds awesome. Line 6 dropped the ball though when they modeled the amp in the HD Pro X because to me it sounds dirty, muddy, and distorted. So I was curious if it sounds improved in the Helix. That is probably my favorite amp for my heavy metal playing. Please let me know how it sounds.

When you are paying huge amounts of money and the unit is advertised and talked about as being state of the art then the consumer has the right to expect to be blown away. Otherwise why build and advertise it. I was not blown away. I think the POD X3 sounds better especially the JCM 800.
-
I've had a HD Pro X and I was wondering what the differences are between the bean version and the HD Pro X. Does the bean version have less processing power? I would imagine the amp models are the same.
-
Sure there will be some differences, but huge differences? Nope. It's more what the company is doing to them.
-
I just tried a Fractal Axe-FX II expecting to be blown away but I was not. It's supposed to be state of the art. Least it was before Axe-FX III took it's place. But even the Marshall JCM 800 did not sound as good as what is in the POD X3. I've tried a Fractal and an Eleven rack and neither one compares to the JCM 800 that is in my X3. Plus all the detailed knobs which are unnecessary that don't do much to change the sound of what you are hearing. Maybe I'll try a Helix next. Seems Line6 stuff is equal to if not better than anyone else's.

Okay Thanks for the info. I'm considering buying either that or a used AXE-FX.
