  1. For years I just had my X3 plugged directly into the back of my computer, and I think I set the input gain for recording with the Tone Volume knob on the X3. Now I have my X3 plugged into my Focusrite Scarlet 18i8 audio interface, and I'm wondering how I would set the input gain for recording. It has 4 XLR and quarter inch combo jacks on the front, and if you use those you can use the knob above the jack to set the input gain. But I will not be using those jacks. I got the left and right outputs from the X3 plugged into quarter inch inputs on the back of the audio interface. Would I still use the Tone Knob or maybe the last (the fourth knob) knob on the X3 to set input gain?
  2. When I push the Outputs button the my X3, it says Match Studio Direct. I don't see anywhere it says Line, or how you can get that screen to say Line.
  3. I'm wondering which inputs I should use to connect the cables from my X3. Should I use the ones on the front or the ones on the back. Here is a photo of the 18i8: https://focusrite.com/en/usb-audio-interface/scarlett/scarlett-18i8
  4. I would like to ask since the Focusrite (the audio interface I'm going to try) will be plugged into my computer by way of a USB cable, I will not need to connect my X3 to my computer using a USB cable will I?
  5. I am aware that the X3 can be used as a sound card. But I still would like to pick up a separate audio interface. I'm looking at some right now and I think I found one that is not too expensive and it has good reviews plus if I don't like it I can return it for a refund. I just found out from Toontrack that both EZ Drummer 3 and Superior Drummer 3 require running inside a 64 bit host to avoid problems.
  6. I'm considering picking up an audio interface since my sound card is old and obsolete and I can't even find 64 bit drivers for it. Here is one idea: https://www.ebay.com/itm/234382526555?hash=item369249885b:g:x9MAAOSwjXFjGfcR&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAABABdQoeqn6TiEZMtEVOqdtajZDxTbizE6alW7aTLCIqyMZF9KTYYTEbzEvfKCLNsGfgqpjKAVHzYYRl%2BO5r6qPOgTa%2FUABRGm74tWvtd2cJOJlv5prn%2FDQbFEBSypWtLl61ZEARJ36F22kNzPXHjJuNhz%2B40Jrl60kuzHGZUWduirOXlUigOQh%2FwU3oGiczl%2F3MPGz0Sy6XzvuNzo4ZTUcu6sATOzP1kuNTSwpyRZPz4L%2Bm5CKjp4fREGz%2FXchWGop%2FZ2qxnuHXOpzwuBSC29%2FottFwB%2Bs3%2FFJx09ZQeX1VXMWqCerJFKt%2FQtBeBKv72kJNzE5pI8HWPV3F8QmjMX%2B7U%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR77fsqnlYA But whatever interface I pick up I will need to hook up my X3 to it so I can record my guitar into Reaper. Also I need to be able to listen to music within Reaper so it would need to act as a sound card. I was wondering if the one above would work with my X3. I do not know how I would do the hook-ups though. If you think you can recommend something better please post.
  7. I am not using a mixer at all. All I would have is three things. My guitar, my POD, and the Cab X2. So if I understand this correctly: Plug guitar into my X3 guitar input. Take a cord and go from POD send into input of the Mooer. Take another cord and go from output of the Mooer to return on the X3. Then I think I would be done. Of course then I have my X3 plugged into my computer by way of a USB cable. Does that sound correct?
  8. I just learned of a cab simulator called the Mooer Cab X2. You can see it here: https://www.mooeraudio.com/product/Cab-X2--245.html I was just wondering how I would hook it up to the POD HD Pro X. Would I plug it into the Pro X Line Input or Unbalanced Output?

    WinUSB Drivers?

HX Edit is the online editor. I think you have to install drivers first. I will untick the box next to WinUSB Drivers.

    WinUSB Drivers?

I'm installing the Helix Drivers and I get to the screen where you choose Helix Drivers and you can also choose WinUSB Drivers. I'm not too clear on the WinUSB Drivers. Are they talking about just the regular USB Drivers that you install when you first are loading your computer and reinstalling Windows? If that's what they're talking about I think I can skip those.
  11. I missed that part of the video. And in the manual it is actually page 17. Thank You.
  12. I did a search on YouTube for how to make a Heavy Metal preset and I just happened to notice that this guy name Nick Hill was placing a reverb on that second signal path. His video is here. At about 19:33 into the video you can see him placing his room reverb on the second signal path. But he must have done the output block thing and chosen Path 2A. He did not show that in his video though.
  13. In one of my other posts in which I posted a picture of my signal chain, someone mentioned the X None which you see at the beginning of the second signal path, and I was told that that means no input there. So it's my understanding then that would mean that path is dead if you see the X None at the beginning. But I have watched videos on YouTube in which people have placed effects (like a reverb) on this second path and their effect works. It is audible in your sound. So hence I am confused.
  14. Maybe they are referring to that panel called Line6 - Audio Midi Devices. Okay I found that. There are two tabs, one called Driver and the other called Inputs & Recording. Do I need to do anything with this panel or information?
  15. On page 8 -3 of the manual it says to connect your headphones directly to your POD X3 to hear your computer generated audio, as well as the POD X3's real time processing. What is computer generated audio? When you plug the headphones into the jack in the POD, you hear your guitar going through the preset that you made. One thing. It goes on to say the Monitor Level Adjustment Slider in the control panel lets you turn down the volume of the X3 versus your computer generated sound. Are they talking about a slider in Windows Control Panel? I don't know anything about this. What I have done to set the recording input level is adjust the Tone Volume on the X3.
  16. I tried everything I could think of with the Helix and it still could not match the sound from the JCM-800 in my X3. One guy said going through two amps and two cabs will not necessarily give you a big sound. He said you need to experiment with mics and room reflections. So I did. And it still was not as good as it should have been. But I will say that I am not opposed to trying the Helix again. I'm willing to do it.
  17. I'm not clear on what you mean with "assign the Input Sources to Tone 1 and Tone 2." Could you elaborate on that a little?
  18. I've had a hard time getting the Helix to sound really good. In fact, my X3 outperforms it especially with the Marshall JCM-800. I play mostly heavy metal so I need a tone which is big and in your face, and the X3 gives me that. I have not been able to get the Helix to sound similar.
  19. I was wondering if the X3 can record a dry, unprocessed track and then the processed track at the same time into my DAW.
  20. Unless I am not allowed to place another amp on the second line where it splits? I have to go to the bottom line with the X None in front of it and put my amp there.
  21. I'm trying to build my own preset starting from scratch and I placed a few effects on the upper chain along with an amp and a cabinet. I successfully split the chain so I got that second line underneath the top line and I want to place another amp on that second line but when I look at my amp list most all of them are greyed out and not accessible. I don't get why.
  22. I accidentally overwrited a factory preset with one of my own. Is there a way to get back the original preset? Or get back all original presets? I have not seen any videos on YouTube on this.
  23. Was wondering if any of you have tried the method of recording where you are sending two tracks to your DAW, one track is the processed signal and the other track is dry and unprocessed. Then you take the Helix Native Plugin and put that on the dry, unprocessed track and add your amps and effects that way. If any of you have tried this please let me know how it turned out for you.
  24. I would most likely be interested in running two different amp heads (like maybe the JCM-800 and the Soldano Lead) and two different types of Celestion cabinets. I am not using any real amps in my apartment. I am only playing through the Helix. I would like to try running them in stereo and just hear if it makes any difference than running them in mono.
  25. How do I set up a preset so I am playing through two amps and two cabs at the same time? Trying to get a big sound for heavy metal. I have enclosed a screen shot but I think I'm doing it wrong:
