Yes, I considered this, but the analog input on the L2t is at it's lowest gain settings.

Dear DI, I hope you can help me. OK, I just encountered this very strange problem. I have been enjoying my helix for weeks and weeks, playing through the line 6 link to the L2t. Now, I finally got my atomic CLR and all my patches are clipping someway or another. I checked this through the analog input on the L2T and it is clipping as well, same goes for the headphone output. How is this possible? And more importantly what is the best way to fix all my patches so they don't clip on the analog outputs? Help! 0

Try rolling off your IRs to 6000 hz

A good impulse response makes all the difference I find Try this one. A 2048 IR http://www.familieassink.com/documents/MU67-Web121-noEQ-Room20.wav

OK, please vote for a digital clipping indicator on helix on Ideascale http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Digital-clipping-indicator-for-Helix/790424-23508?submitted=1

Digital_Igloo, I have two sort of technical questions about the impulse response block. First off, can you tell me why it defaults to -18 dB? The other question regards the low and High cut. Can you tell me how the EQ works? Does the frequency you select indicate the start of the slope or the center? Also, what is the angle of the slope? Do you to know how many dB per octave?

My helix is Very solid. No hang ups After FW1.00
-
I think that is by design! I have a too on all my patches.
-
Update: actually, this routing option is better. There was a noticeable volume drop in the first patch picture I posted.
-
I just added this input on all my patches.
-
Is this the correct way if you use the extended mono signal path?
-
Yes, but I have devices where I can input several digital devices at once. Anyway. I assume that an RCA audio output is line level right?

OK I am very happy with my Helix, but I did really enjoy being able to play backing tracks through my Firehawk. So, When I got my helix, I bought a Bluetooth receiver with an SP DIF out so I could use the SP DIF input on the helix to hear the backing tracks. Or so I thought... However, didn't work and after reading the manual twice I found a small throw away line that the variax input disables the SP DIF input. So now, I was wondering if I could use something like the loops or something to get the stereo output from my Bluetooth receiver RCA's into the helix?

Actually the coaxial design and quality is supposed to be very close to Atomic CLRs

Actually, I'm in the Netherlands, but only an hours drive from there, and yes, I saw that, but thomann says they're not available until December, so I'm not holding my breath. If they do come available, I will be able to test the Dynacord and Friedman side-by-side at Muzik Produktiv Still, the Dynacord might be better than the Friedman and closer to the atomic in specifications and sound from what I hear plus it has better specs, so I would actually prefer the Dynacord of the three if they are as good as I am reading

In Europe it's hard to find, let alone audition the popular Atomic CLR and Friedman AXM12 active wedges for high end modellers like the Axe-Fx II, the Kemper and the Line 6 Helix. I've read some very good reviews of the Dynacord AXM 12a and I read it compares favourably to the CLR. It offers more features for the same price though: Neo magnets as standard, DSP options, as well as RCA inputs for playing along to my iPod, low weight and small footprint. Can anyone comment on them?

Very cool! Enjoy the trip! Btw make sure you get the placement and distance right. Makes a lot of difference

You do not have to worry about the length of the IR. Both the Axe FX 2 and the helix truncate the responses at 2048 samples, which translates to 42 ms

I Would love to hear your best mix! If anyone has a good IR of the scumback Scumnico I'd love to try it

You are very welcome! I am away for a trip this week, but I will be sharing some of my other patches as well next week after that. So, did you test drive a couple of redwirez then?

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I am glad to know that that IR translates well to other systems as well. Here are some tips to get you started into making your own. First off, you can read this manual on how to use the mixIR2 plugin: http://redwirez.com/mixIR2UsersGuide.pdf I used it with logic Pro and just started it as a plug-in on the channel strip. I never actually tested them out playing through the mixIR plugin in logic. I just used the export function on the mixIR2 plugin to create a dozen or so IRs and then uploaded them to helix so I could test them live while playing, using foot editing which is brilliant! Just hold the mode button for two seconds, select the IR and use the value plus in value minus buttons to switch through IRs while playing. So get a bunch of your favorite speaker selections and favorite microphone selections and first, just try out unmixed IRs, to see how you like that sound. I made notes describing them as sounding mid-rangy or scooped or fizzy, etc. That way, when you start mixing them you know which ones work and which ones don't. And even which ones would combine well, by combining a mid range speaker IR with a scooped one. In real life I would also combined speakers that match well, because there's no one guitar speaker that does it all. I really liked the Weber blue, the basket weave G 12 M 25, the Celestion blue, and the EVM 12. As for microphones, to me, it always came down to the Royer R121 and the Neumann U67. Funny, because usually I also like the staple shure SM 57, but with these IRs, I didn't like it in any speaker combination. Now to narrow down mic placement, most mics sound best at the CapEdge. Usually, you would start at a distance of one or 2 inches, but I have found that for my two mics of choice, they both sounded best at 0 inches. Nice and thick and no fizz. The Royer, being a ribbon mic should be placed at the cap, not the cap edge. So now, you can discard 95% of the files that come with red wires. Just go to 24 bit 48 kHz, select the speakers you want to hear, and take these two mics/positions. That way you can just drive a lot of IRS without having to test all those positions, and distances. When it comes to mixing, I mix 40% for both mics and then add 20% room mic of the favorite of those two speakers you're mixing. Finally go to the redwirez EQ and add an 80hz high pass. Then you're done!!

If the tone matches that's another sign how good this thing is. Different knob positions can be down to difference and in parts used or their tolerance and maybe a different JTM version between your amp and the one they modeled. There are many variations on this model

I want the exact same thing!!!
