Volume While Creating a Patch

Well, I have good news for you: today, I figured out how to solve the issue once and for all and am very pleased about not having to ditch my HD. In even better news, I will now leave you to practice the fine art of being dooshbags to one another without my atrocious civility getting in your way. I learned a lot in my short time here. Nothing about the unit, bur plenty about how easy it is for people to be internet tough guys and basic dbags. Thanks for the education, and for those who aren't angry trolls, feel free to PM me and I'll happily share my solution with you.

Sorry bro, was just trying to help out the other guy. Rodmayes, do share your solution with us.

As for your issue Rocco, when you said the patches sound crappy, do you mean on wedges, FoH speakers, or in-ear mons? And do they sound terrible by themselves, or only when the rest of the band comes in? These details will help others to point you in the right direction.

If you like, you can download free sound pressure level measuring phone apps to get an idea of whether your practice volume is alot higher or lower than stage volume. The actual SPL reading isn't accurate, but if you use the same device at both locations and measure at the spots where your ears would be, it'll give you a rough idea of the difference.

Thanks M... the problem was that at rehearsal, at louder sound levels, some patches sounded too boxy, some too boomy, etc. My living situation is such that I can't get too loud at home while making patches. I ended up adjusting everything at rehearsal last night (didn't take very long at all) and I am good to go now.

You wanna know how I solve the problem of volume discrepancy? Turn the quiet patches up.

I have no Grammy nor am I important, but I sure do know my way around a POD HD after having one for two months

I sold my 500 because I didn't think I should have to spend a ridiculous amount of time reading a manual and searching forums, making hundreds of adjustments. I had the same exact problem with differences in tone and relative volume of the patches in a) My practice room. 2) Our rehearsal space, and three) Venue volumes. Radatats, My band Cruise Control plays in your area and in 4 surrounding counties, at different sized places. Last Friday we played an early gig, then headed to see some friends playing a nearby gig. We caught the last four or five songs. As soon as the last song ended the guitar player came over and began complaining about the new 500 he bought that day. He said he was embarrassed at how many times he had to bend down to make volume and tone adjustments the entire gig. I recommended he ditch it and go back to his effects pedals and a midi controller. I've been using a Mesa MarkV, but it's getting to heavy to lug to 75-100 gigs each year, so I plunked down some cash on a Kemper and should have it very soon. I still have an M13, which I like, but haven't been using it live lately. And remember fellas, we're all on the same team.
