  1. Q: Is Amp Farm and Echo Farm still available for purchase? I don’t see them on the web shop. A: The Amp Farm and Echo Farm plug ins are no longer available for purchase as of March 31, 2024. We encourage any potential users to consider Helix Native. Q: Why is it no longer manufactured? A: Typically, as with many companies, the decision to end the availability of any YGG product is based on one or more of these factors: a lack of market demand, a planned successor product, or because the parts to manufacture it (or support the software) are no longer available. Q: What product will replace it? We encourage interested parties to check out our other Software titles, all available at https://line6.com/software-apps/ Q: If I already own it, how will I get upgrades/support? The final version of the software will still be available to download from our Software Downloads page. For existing Amp Farm or Echo Farm users, we are offering a special upgrade path to our Helix® Native plug-in, which delivers the authentic sounds of classic amps, cabs, mics, and effects. You can find the special upgrade version of Helix Native HERE. Q: In what ways will the discontinued product be supported? You can find manuals on our Legacy Products page, additional information at our Knowledge Base, tutorial videos on our YouTube Support channel, and our Customer Support team can be reached from our Contact Us page.
  2. What is Catalyst CX? The CatalystT® CX family of combo amplifiers represents both a physical update to the original Catalyst family, as well as a firmware update. What does the new Firmware offer? · Catalyst CX doubles the number of amp voicings to 12 (compared to the 6 in the original Catalyst) and includes many of our Original Amp Designs—ranging from pristine clean to modern high-gain—with all amp models derived from the Helix® family of amp and effect processors. · Catalyst CX allows for the use of simultaneous effects (Boost, Effect 1, Effect 2) · The effect selection process has been simplified, with the “audition” time for selecting effects extended. · Added visual cues to identify when you enter/exit Effect selection mode, Preset Bank selection, and more. · Additional default deep-parameter settings optimize each amp voicing when in MANUAL mode. · Expanded functionality of the optional LFS2 footswitch (accessed through the free Catalyst Edit software). · Updates to Catalyst Edit software to capture the new firmware functionality. What are the physical differences? · A new custom black & tan grille cloth provides a more traditional look. · Subtle two-tone piping (cream with an enclosed gold braid) outlines the grille cloth, adding to the “boutique” design style. · Updated silk art on the control panel is designed to enhance the user experience by calling out some of the key updates related to the 2.01 firmware. What amps and effects are included? The amps in Catalyst CX are split into 2 groups of 6: the 6 original Catalyst amps are in group 1, and 6 NEW amps are in group 2. You can switch between them by pressing the Ch A and Ch B buttons simultaneously: · Boosts—Just like the original Catalyst, there is a customized boost to match each of the 12 amp voicings · All of the original 24 Effects from Catalyst are present, and now can be accessed any 2 at a time. (also all taken from the Helix family of products) * PLUS a Built-in adjustable Noise Gate Can I edit them beyond just effect mix? Yes, deep editing of effects is available in Catalyst Edit, available FREE on macOS, Windows, iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. https://line6.com/software/index.html Does it take pedals well? Absolutely – external effects can be placed in front of the amp input, in the effects loop, or run an external modeler into the power amp in jack. Are there presets like other Line 6 products? Catalyst stores 6 banks of presets with 2 channels each, for a total of 12 presets. Presets can also be edited/saved using Catalyst Edit software. I have the original Catalyst amp. What about me? All of the new firmware features (new amps, and more) are available to ALL original Catalyst amp owners as a free download (Firmware 2.01) HERE: https://line6.com/software/ Is there a Footswitch for Catalyst CX? Yes, the Catalyst & Catalyst CX amps have a standard ¼” input for the optional LFS2 footswitch. The 2-button LFS2 is a roadworthy metal latching footswitch that provides stock control of Channel and Effect on/off status, while both footswitches may be reassigned via the Catalyst Edit app to control a number of other functions, including Boost on/off, Reverb on/off, Tap Tempo and more. A ten-foot/3.3m right-angle/straight TRS cable is included. When is Catalyst CX shipping? March 2024, worldwide. Where can I learn more? https://line6.com/find/dealer/ KNOWN ISSUE (CATALYST EDIT only) - Currently, there is an issue with disabling the Cab simulation on the direct output within Catalyst Edit. We encourage users to leave cab sim enabled on. The issue is being evaluated for update in a future release. Bug Fix - (for Catalyst CX users only) - In Firmware 2.0 (the factory default firmware for Catalyst CX), If the CLEAN AMP in group 2 is selected, there is audible hum which is part of the model default. Updating to 2.01 firmware will eliminate the issue.
  3. Windows drivers with support for Core Isolation with Memory Integrity are now available with Driver version 2.00.0.0 or greater for the following device families: Line 6 Helix Line 6 POD Go Line 6 HX Stomp Line 6 POD Express Line 6 Spider V Line 6 Powercab Line 6 Firehawk Line 6 AMPLIFi We recommend enabling Core Isolation with Memory Integrity prior to installing your Line 6 driver. Please review the following if Windows will not enable Core Isolation with Memory Integrity after Line 6 2_5 drivers are already installed: • In some cases, the Core Isolation system page was blank/not available, therefore leaving the user with no way to verify incompatible drivers, or the ability to enable memory integrity. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-11-core-isolation-page-not-available-the/a3498971-7c1c-49a1-b6c8-a57c25f215e2 • User uninstalls unsupported 3rd party drivers and various files (ex. AvsFilter.sys) remain listed as incompatible. With this outcome is advised to install DriverStoreExplorer and remove (force delete) the driver which is listed by vendor in the app. https://github.com/lostindark/DriverStoreExplorer • All incompatible drivers were removed and are no longer displayed as incompatible, yet the user was unable to enable memory integrity (shaded button). This is a registry issue where the “HypervisorEnforcedCodeIntegrity” folder’s contents need to be edited, or perhaps even created. Any registry edits are at the users risk. https://www.syxsense.com/wp-content/uploads/syxsense-securityarticles/windows_configuration/syx-1009-12236.html
  4. Q: I’ve connected everything correctly to my POD Express and it is powered on – why is there no audio? A: Please make sure to turn the volume thumbwheel on the left side of the unit to set the overall output level for the OUT & PHONES. Q: What kinds of batteries are recommended? A: Alkaline batteries are recommended. Non-alkaline batteries such as NiMH or Lithium rechargeables may be used, but the indication of remaining battery life may not be reflected with accuracy and performance expectations may vary. Q: What is the expected operating time with battery power? A: The performance expectations may vary depending on whether headphones are connected (and even the type of headphones can affect this), how much DSP is in use, how frequently the user interacts with the UI, etc. The operating time is typically a minimum of 6 hours when using alkaline batteries (but under ideal conditions this can be up to 10 hours). Q: What other ways can the product be powered? A: POD Express Guitar and POD Express Bass can be powered by a 9V DC power supply, such as the optional Line 6 DC1g. The product cannot be powered over USB. Q: How can I use my POD Express Guitar or POD Express Bass as an audio interface? A: Power your POD Express Guitar or POD Express Bass with batteries, or with a 9V DC power supply. Connect the product to your macOS or Windows computer with a USB-C cable (not included). Q: Do I need a driver to use this with my computer? A: For low latency USB audio operation on Windows computers (required for most Windows DAW applications), you must first download and install the Line 6 POD Express ASIO® driver. For macOS computers and iOS or Android mobile devices, there is no Line 6 driver installation necessary—POD Express Guitar/POD Express Bass support the class compliant driver. For details on driver support with the latest operating systems, please visit line6. com/support. Q: What firmware is included on the product? A: POD Express Guitar and POD Express Bass ship with firmware version 1.00.0 installed. Please visit the line6.com Downloads page to download the Line 6 Central updater application. This can be used to update the firmware for POD Express and POD Express Bass, when any new versions are released. Q: How can I update my POD Express firmware or check for new releases? A: You will need to use Line 6 Central version 1.01.0 or later. This is available from the Line 6 Downloads page. Q: Can I use TRS cables with the Main Output jacks? A: Yes. Q: What if I am connecting to a balanced input. A: If you are connecting a TRS or TS cable to a balanced input, the result will be 6dB lower than if connecting to an unbalanced input. Q: If the batteries have run down but are still installed in POD Express, the device may still power itself on momentarily. Is this normal? A: Yes. Once the batteries reach a low level, the unit will power off. Given time, batteries may “rebound” to a higher voltage. This may cause the unit to momentarily power back on while drained batteries are still installed in the unit.
  5. Catalyst 2.01 includes six additional amp models derived from our Helix® family of processors, along with the ability to use any two of the 24 on-board effects at a time. There are also some improvements in how you access the different effects, and new visual cues for the different amp functions. How do I update to 2.01? Go to Line6.com, click on “Downloads”, and install Line6 Central to your computer. This is an application that will facilitate this and future updates. Connect your Catalyst or Catalyst CX 60, 100, or 200 amplifier to your computer and launch Line 6 Central. Log in with your Line 6 credentials (or create a new account if you don’t have one). The software will walk you through the entire procedure for updating the firmware. Power on the Catalyst or Catalyst CX amplifier with the master volume all the way down. The screen will show your product and which version of the firmware is currently loaded. It will also say “UPDATE AVAILABLE”: Clicking on the amp image will take you to the Update page: Click on “PERFORM UPDATE” and accept the terms and conditions. You will receive a message that your amp is restarting in Update Mode. When the update is successful, you will see a message like this: Click OK and you are complete! Anything else I should know? If you’d like to use the new factory presets, please follow these instructions to perform a factory reset…(Be sure to make a backup of any of your current presets in Catalyst Edit before performing the factory reset.) · Power down your Catalyst /Catalyst CX amplifier. · While holding the Channel “B” and “Manual” buttons, power your amplifier back on. That’s it – this will allow access to the new factory presets. Download the Catalyst Edit application from Line6.com if you haven’t already. Open the Editor. In the upper left corner, click and select BACKUP. This will create a backup of your current presets and settings. You can also just save INDIVIDUAL presets by selecting SAVE CURRENT PRESET TO FILE. This will allow you to load the presets individually. After the backup is complete, Power down your Catalyst amplifier, then “RESET” the amplifier by holding down the “Channel B” and “MANUAL” channel buttons while turning the power switch back on. This will load the NEW factory presets, including presets with the new amp voicings. You can of course then load your previous individual presets from your previous backup. I updated my firmware—now how do I access the six new amplifiers? There are two Amp Groups, each containing six Line 6 Amp Voicings—one each for the slots on the Selector. Group 1 are the six original Amp Voicings. Group 2 are the new Amp Voicings: Press both the CHANNEL SELECT CH A & CH B buttons together to toggle between Amp Groups. · The full LED SELECTOR RING flashes once to indicate you are selecting Amp Group 1 and twice for Amp Group 2. · Turn the SELECTOR encoder to load an Amp Voicing within the current Group. What if I want to use amps in both groups for my presets? NO problem! When you create and save your presets (either on the amp or within the editor), the amp will remember which amp the preset is created with. For example, you can create a preset in Bank 1 CH A using an amp from Group 1, and CH B using an amp from Group 2. What’s different about the Effects? While the original firmware let you combine any one effect (grouped into three Effect Categories) with a Reverb type in the independent Reverb section, 2.0 Firmware enables you to combine any two effects from any two of four Effect Categories. In other words, you can combine a Delay effect with a Modulation effect (but not two Delay effects or two Modulation effects), a Pitch/Filter effect with a Reverb effect, a Modulation effect with a Reverb effect, etc. - loaded into the EFFECT and REVERB locations. Use the EFFECT 1 and REVERB controls to load the two different effects: Press the EFFECT or REVERB button to enable the loaded effect. The current EFFECT category is indicated by the color of the button’s LED (Delay = GREEN, Modulation = BLUE, Pitch/Filter = PURPLE, Reverb = ORANGE). Press and hold the EFFECT or REVERB button for two seconds to enter Effect Selection Mode. The SELECTOR’s full LED RING will blink twice. TIP! Use the Catalyst Edit application to adjust “deeper” parameters such as Delay Time, Modulation Rate, etc. To change EFFECT models, turn the SELECTOR to select one of the six different effects available within the currently selected Effect Category (your selection is indicated by the illuminated LED RING segment). To select different Effect Categories, press the TAP button to scroll through the other available options. Press and release the EFFECT button to save the selected effect within your preset. The full LED RING will blink three times to indicate you are exiting Selection Mode. After exiting Effect Selection Mode, press and hold the CH A or CH B button to save your settings to that preset location, or save via the Catalyst Edit software. We’ve added some new visual cues that apply when you are doing things such as switching in and out of Effect Selection Mode. You can find the details in the updated Catalyst/Catalyst CX Pilot’s guide. KNOWN ISSUE (CATALYST EDIT only) Currently, there is an issue with disabling the Cab simulation on the direct output within Catalyst Edit. We encourage users to leave cab sim enabled on. The issue is being evaluated for update in a future release. New Amps in 2.0/2.01 CLEAN – Archetype Clean Mod. Based on* a modded version of the Paul Reed Smith Archon. “The Clean channel is rich and dimensional and stays clean to almost full volume. The versatility of the three-band EQ lets you dial in tones from across decades and genres.” —Ben Adrian, Sound Design Manager BOUTIQUE - Grammatico GSG. Based on* the Grammatico GSG100. "The Grammatico GSG100 is an amp created after a study of legendary amps built around 1980. This model aims to capture all of the unique details of the circuits in those amplifiers, many of which are quite different than those in popular guitar amps from the major companies. The GSG100 is a feature-rich and complicated amp.” —Ben Adrian, Sound Design Manager CHIME - Line 6 Elmsley. A Line 6 Original. "The Line 6 Elmsley is a Line 6 original amplifier that employs a parallel distortion topology that layers distinct saturation characteristics across the lower and upper registers. The Elmsley features a smooth and present bottom end with some exceptional sparkle and definition all through the midrange and above. The result is an amplifier that is dazzling across the full spectrum, and the amplifier plays very well with pedals. "A key feature of the Elmsley's power amp section is the Negative Feedback parameter (NFB)—utilized in the Boost function for Catalyst CX—where the amount of feedback within the power section's response can range from wild and unhinged to tight and punchy.” —Sam Hwang, Sound Designer CRUNCH - Brit 2204 MOD. Based on a custom-modded version of the classic Marshall JCM800. Turn to this Amp Voicing to conjure up tones of the coveted JCM 800, one of Marshall's most iconic amps. This updated version of the Plexi supplied the additional gain, and edge, sought by a new generation of rock guitarists. One of the biggest differences here is that the tone controls are located after the preamp tubes. DYNAMIC – Ventoux. A Line 6 Original. “This model comes from a physical amp idea I had a while back. I was originally going to build it as a tube amp, but there are only so many hours in a day. The idea was to create a ‘coveted boutique amp’ that had a different origin story. Most coveted boutique amps come from modified black-panel Fender or modified Marshall circuits. I wanted to do the same thing, but base it on the early-’70s Orange circuits and the mid-wattage ‘tweed’ circuits. “Ventoux has a unique topology. In an indirect way, every knob is kind of a gain/drive control. The tone controls adjust the character and/or amount of the overdrive in those frequencies. This might be seen as complicated by some, but I find it exciting and full of possibilities." —Ben Adrian, Sound Design Manager HI GAIN – Badonk. A Line 6 Original To create the Line 6 Badonk, the Big Bottom model from the XT code was rebuilt using new tools, so that the overall EQ and pre/post distortion filtering matched. The previous tone stack was a little limited, so it was tuned up to have more range and provide a realistic and interactive response. To make this model feel more like a full amp, the power amp from the Fatality model (Mesa Rectifier mod) was added then tweaked slightly to reinforce the overall EQ curve of the Big Bottom.” —Ben Adrian, Sound Design Manager *NOTE: All non-Line 6 original product names used in this document are trademarks of their respective owners and neither Yamaha Guitar Group nor Line 6 are associated or affiliated with them. These trademarks appear solely to identify products whose tones and sounds were studied by Line 6 during sound model development.
  6. A Catalyst may seem "dead" if a firmware update fails to complete itself. If the Catalyst fails to update: Power down the amp and close the Updater app. Open the Updater again, then power up the Catalyst while holding A and B to put the unit into bootloader mode. You will then need to manually select the correct Catalyst product from three choices presented by the Updater. Select the latest firmware version, then accept the Terms and Conditions. After the update is complete, power down your Catalyst amplifier, then “RESET” the amplifier by holding down the “B” and “MANUAL” channel buttons while turning the power switch back on.
  7. Nice work! As with anything else, this device/design is not officially endorsed or tested by YGG/Line 6, use at your own risk.
  8. Hey silverhead. This is not specific to your system. I was told that a user cannot update a Variax via a Helix, instead they must use an HD 500x or the VDI USB device. I was told Variax was never supported for updates via Helix. Nevertheless, we have a bug in for this.

We encourage you to contact our Support Staff if you run into any other issues with Line 6 Central.
  10. Attention AMPLIFi and Firehawk owners: We have learned that Google will not be making older applications available for the newest versions of Android at the end of October 2023. This will affect AMPLIFi and Firehawk remotes. As of November 1, 2023, new users running Android versions higher than KitKat (Android 4.4, API Level 19) will no longer see AMPLIFI and Firehawk remote available in the Google Play store. Existing users will still be able to access the apps, regardless of Android version. “New user” means that the user has never downloaded the app, and wishes to do so for the first time. “Existing user” means that the user has previously downloaded our app. As Firehawk support expires 5/1/2024, and AMPLIFi support expires 12/1/2023, we had already planned to not update these apps. However, we have discovered a 3rd party host of the APK (Android Application Package) needed by new users to run the app. We’d like to warn users to proceed at your own risk, as it’s a somewhat advanced user process to load APKs directly, and it is not a procedure that we support. As a guide, here’s a customer’s experience as reported in a support ticket with our staff: I ended up downloading the APK file from here: AMPLIFi Remote: https://amplifi-remote.en.softonic.com/android Firehawk Remote: https://firehawk-remote.en.softonic.com/android I copied it into the download folder on my Samsung J7. (Android 7.1.1) I had to uncheck the "other sources" option in Security on the phone so I could install from a place other than the Play store. I opened it up on my phone and tapped to install. Turned on the hardware and pushed the Bluetooth button. Turned on Bluetooth on my phone and they connected!

  13. All Line 6 hardware and software work as expected with Sonoma, and there have been no unexpected compatibility issues while updating hardware in Sonoma. Below are all known issues regarding Sonoma compatibility: POD HD, POD HD Pro, POD HD Pro X, POD HD 300, POD HD 400, POD HD 500, POD HD 500X and Variax Workbench Editors: The apps launch and are functional, but they have special characters in the menu toolbar where the app’s name should be. This only happens on the first run of the app. Driver Issues: Incorrect driver version is displayed in Control Panel (TonePort and POD HD) Unable to select Sample Rate/Buffer Size in Standalone apps (Helix/POD Go used with Metallurgy and SVT Suite) POD Farm, Amp Farm and Echo Farm Continue to Work in Rosetta Mode: Starting with Big Sur macOS 11, Apple introduced Rosetta v2, which allows applications to run in an emulated mode. Rosetta runs automatically with our software that is NOT a plugin. To use Rosetta with our plugins, locate your DAW in the Applications folder. Use command ⌘+I and check the “Open in Rosetta” box. You may have to rescan your plugins afterwards. Legacy System Extension Warning After Updating to Sonoma: Anyone who updates their system to Sonoma will be greeted with the same one-time alert that Line 6 users experienced while updating to Ventura. No action other than clicking "OK" is needed.
  14. Is the James Tyler Variax/Variax Standard/Shuriken guitar still manufactured? No, it is no longer manufactured. Despite this, retailers may still have units in inventory over time. Why is it no longer manufactured? Typically, as with many companies, the decision to end the manufacture of any YGG product is based on one or more of these factors: a lack of market demand, a planned successor product, or because the parts to manufacture it are no longer available. What product will replace it? For a number of reasons vital to our business, we can't comment on future product releases, but follow us on social media or sign up for our email list to receive new product announcements. Why is it at a lower price? You may find the James Tyler Variax/Variax Standard/Shuriken guitar at a lower price at retailers to allow them to clear their inventory of this discontinued product. If I buy it, will you honor the warranty? Yes. The full warranty applies if bought as new from an authorized Line 6 retailer and a receipt copy is furnished. See our Warranty page for details. In what ways will the discontinued product be supported? You can find manuals on our Legacy Products page, additional information at our Knowledge Base, tutorial videos on our YouTube Support channel, and our Customer Support team can be reached from our Contact Us page.

By changing from "Volume" to "Tweak", you have engaged the Mission pedal to control any function that comes under "Tweak". To find out what's under the "Tweak" selection, turn the "Select" knob to the next page where you will see "FX Tweak | Tempo". On the FX tweak side, you may scroll through the stomp tweaks, delay tweaks, mod tweaks etc. Make sure if you select, say, the delay time, the delay button light must be on and so on with the other effects types.
