  1. What is Amp Farm? Amp Farm is an amp modeler plug-in. It offers more than a dozen different amp models, dozens of diverse cabinet models, and selectable mic models to produce a wide variety of guitar tones. Amp Farm was introduced in the year 1998 as a Pro Tools TDM plug-in and became extremely popular on a multitude of award-winning records and soundtracks. Due to popular demand, we made Amp Farm available as a 64-bit Native plug-in in AAX, AU, and VST plug-in formats. What changed in Amp Farm between TDM and Native AAX versions? Are there any new amp models? Our design goal was to provide 100% session compatibility and ensure that older projects open smoothly in Pro Tools 11 and higher. For this reason, we kept the Amp Farm AAX feature set unchanged. However, the AAX version now supports sampling rates up to 192 kHz, which was not possible with the older TDM version. What DAWs does Amp Farm 4.0 work with? Amp Farm 4.0 works with a wide variety of 64-bit DAWs that support AAX, AU, or VST plug-in formats. Supported DAW and Plugin Formats (Mac) Host Requirements Supported Formats Ableton Live 8.5 or above Audio Unit Apple Logic Pro 10.2.3 or above Audio Unit Apple Garageband 10.0 or above Audio Unit Avid Pro Tools 11 or above AAX Bitwig 2.5 or above VST3 Cockos Reaper 5 or above Audio Unit, VST3 Presonus Studio One 4 or above Audio Unit, VST3 Steinberg Cubase 8.5 or above VST3 Steinberg Nuendo 7 or above VST3 Supported DAW and Plugin Formats (PC) Host Requirements Supported Formats Ableton Live 8.5 or above VST2* Avid Pro Tools 11 or above AAX Bitwig 2.5 or above VST3 Cockos Reaper 5 or above VST3 Steinberg Cubase 8.5 or above VST3 Steinberg Nuendo 7 or above VST3 *To ensure that VST2 is installed, please check the box for it in the Amp Farm installer. What are your plans for an AAX DSP version of Amp Farm? We plan to release the plug-in on the AAX Native platform initially and evaluate demand for AAX DSP subsequently. Will Amp Farm AAX work with 32-bit DAW applications, such as Pro Tools 10? Amp Farm AAX is a 64bit plug-in and thus only works with DAWs that support the 64-bit format, for example Pro Tools 11 or higher. When will Amp Farm be available and how much does it cost? Amp Farm is available now in the Line 6 online store. It costs $199 for the full retail version. I own Amp Farm TDM version 3. Is there an upgrade path to the AAX version? Yes. Registered Amp Farm TDM 3.x customers can upgrade to version 4.0 for $49. Please note that the upgrade will replace (void) the version 3 license. I found a really old and dusty Amp Farm 1.0 installer floppy disk. Can I upgrade that to Amp Farm 4.0? Please contact Line 6 customer support and we will assess your request.

  3. Mission Engineering has released the 529 HC USB Power Converter, which provides a single 9V DC output suitable for many digital devices that require more than 500mA. We have found that it is compatible with the HX Stomp. Using the 529 HC with the HX Stomp does not void the warranty, as Mission Engineering built it to our specs.
  4. So what's new with the MkII? In short, Spider V MkII is running the 2.00 firmware, which is also available to existing Spider V owners, but the new hardware has a few cosmetic upgrades. When will they be available? Can I try it? They are available from select retailers now! The firmware and software updates are also live now at www.Line6.com/software. And yes! You should absolutely try it! What's different about the new firmware 2.00? Firmware 2.00 introduces the new Classic speaker mode, which is different than using Spider V in Full Range mode with cabinet modeling active. This allows for a more transparent, organic and familiar combo amp sonic experience. Aside from that, we've brought in consultants with a LOT of amp expertise to help us dial in the models so that they not only sound true to the real thing, but also feel really great to play. All amp and effects model defaults have been revised. Out of the box, we've revised all the presets and included twice as many artist presets from some very prominent players. So you just shut off the tweeter and bypassed the cabs? No! That would not go far enough. Each model of Spider V has been finely tuned by our sound designers so that when you're playing through just the woofer, it sounds as great as that particular speaker can for it's enclosure, which is what you would expect from a combo amp. If you're skeptical, we urge you to give it a try because it can have a pretty dramatic difference! Anything new on the software side? Yes. Spider V Remote for Mac/PC has gotten some upgrades that now allow you to go to the cloud (customtone.com) from within the editor to search for presets, download them, tweak them to your liking, save them to your own collection (My Tones), and publish your own creations. Can I update my Spider V to the 2.00 Firmware? Yes. Simply connect it to a Mac or PC and use Line 6 Updater to apply the FREE update. How do I get these new presets and artist presets? Any preset you haven't overwritten will automatically update, but you can get the full bundle by performing a Factory Reset after you've installed 2.00 firmware.

  8. Chad Boston Chad Boston had a rough childhood and MUSIC was a key element to get through life’s ups and downs. Ups and downs included running his own businesses since 16 years of age. Chad reinvigorated his High School love for guitars and gear and has been a huge fan of Line 6 for years. He got wind of the release of the Line 6 Helix and jumped in head first, hasn’t looked back! Chad started the Line 6 Helix Family Face Book Group with his Friend Chris Saraga as members 1 and 2 …… Now it’s over 23,000 members and growing. (Lots of help with Line 6 and all the fantastic moderators). Chad has learned how to take a different approach to everything he does. Some call him the ‘Mad Scientist’ others think ‘village idiot’ but that’s how he rolls. (BTW I find it weird to brag as well as to write in the 3rd person) – so here go some accomplishments: · Computer Consultant for 32 years · Did a (7 hour) livestream unboxing of one of the 1st in the wild Helix Units (EPIC – Line 6 was watching) · Created a FANTASTIC COMMUNITY (Chris and Chad were dubbed ‘Founding Fathers’ by the CEO of Line 6 Joe Bentivegna) · Created numerous accessories for Helix (screen guards, Water-resistant Helix Shield, Sunshield, Skins, Foot Touch-Enabled Switch Toppers, Connection Tag Kits Line 6 Helix Family User Group OFFICIAL and Original https://www.facebook.com/groups/line6helixusergroup Line 6 Marketplace: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/?addon_vendor=135 Gear By CEBA https://www.gearbyceba.com/ Chad Boston Sites: https://www.mrcdboston.com/ https://www.chadbostonphotography.com/ YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/chadboston Social: https://www.facebook.com/mrcdboston https://www.instagram.com/mrcdboston/ https://twitter.com/mrcdboston
  9. Eric Broadbent Eric Broadbent is the creator and founder of the YouTube Line 6 related talk-show, The Helix Hour. The show was created & inspired after having a Line 6 Artist as a guest on the channel’s parent show “EVH & Gear TV”. In little time Eric has gone from not even knowing what Helix was, to being able to recreate his guitar hero Edward Van Halen’s sound in extreme detail, covering nearly all eras of his ever changing tone. Being a life long fanatic of Van Halen has helped Eric in his research when it comes to Eddie’s amps & effects. Eric has been playing guitar for over 35 years in dozens of bands with career highlights including 5150 - The Ultimate Van Halen Tribute Band and his original rock group, Finding Core. The YouTube channel has allowed Eric to interact with Line 6 Helix owners across the world and share in their excitement, passion & tone chasing quests we all have. It has also become a great vehicle to assist people (and learn from them as well). Eric is a member of the Line 6 Marketplace with Van Halen style presets available for all HX family products. 10. Phil Miller I'm a native Pennsylvanian now living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I grew up involved in music in a bunch of different ways, but mainly in my church. I started by playing trombone and piano, and I bought my first electric guitar during my Freshman year of college. I've been fortunate to play with some amazing players over my life, and I currently play in two bands as well as my church. I play electric and acoustic guitar, mandolin and bass, and I enjoy a wide array of genres including rock, pop, funk, blues, jazz and roots music. In our free time, my wife and I enjoy biking and hiking as well as checking off-the-beaten path restaurants. My first Line 6 products were the POD 2.0, DL4 and MM4, which I bought back in 2000 not long after starting my first "real" job out of college. Since then I've owned more Line 6 products (and other effects pedals and amps) than I can keep track of. My degrees and my day job are in Architectural Engineering - I design lighting systems for buildings. I find that I'm drawn to fields that combine artistic expression and technical know-how, and Line 6 has proven it's cared about balancing these things since its inception. I've been an "Expert User" on the Line 6 forums for over ten years, and I frequent The Gear Page and Helix Facebook groups. I'm very excited for the opportunity to serve as a CS Ambassador, and I look forward to helping others have great experiences with their Line 6 gear! 11. Brock Davisson Ok so around 1992 my brother wanted a dirt bike but parents thought it was too dangerous for him so they went to the local flea market place and brought back a Silvertone guitar and harmony battery operated amp. However there was always an acoustic around because of my dad dabbled with it and we always had bands like CCR and willie nelson and the eagles playing around the house because of him sometimes... We really didn't know what to do with this guitar they got us so we sat it under the bed for awhile until one day when we were in music class in school and heard the band NIRVANA. Nirvana was the reason I started playing guitar. I can't play the guitar in the "normal" position that most can due to limited mobility in wrists and joints so I taught myself how to play the way I do. So I went from Nirvana then branched off to metal acts like Metallica and Megadeth and so on. Little later on I started getting into blues like bb king and stuff and then shred guitar like steve vai and joe satriani. Nothing much happened since I began up until around the early 2000's where I entered a guitar contest at the michael angelo batio clinic here in my town of Marietta, Ohio and got 2nd place. Then I started entering the C.A. HOUSE MUSIC guitar contests in Parkersburg in the later 2000's and won 3 of those and came in 2nd in 2 others. Around 2014 my friend Andy Holbrook and his wife Courtney Holbrook decided to do a 10 minute video bio of me and that started a small movement of people on the internet wanting a album done. That led to me working with skylight media and making an album. I released a blues-folk type album titled "outtakes from the soul" in late 2015 and it even hit #15 on the billboard.com blues chart for 1 week in may, 2016. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gloKZkHdCvY. Also december 18th 2014 american blues scene magazine featured a article of me as well in their magazine :] This is a link that directs you to many of my social media profiles and other things: linktr.ee/brockdavisson1978

  13. Aaron Short Growing up in Suffolk, England, Aaron began playing piano at the age of 7, and in his teens, he fell in love with Britpop, began playing guitar, joined a band and began writing songs. His influences were classic left-of-center singer/songwriter; Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and later, Damien Rice. “I’ve always been into the lyrical and the gutsy, the artists who aren’t afraid to be deep,” he says. Aaron’s performances have taken him from his small town upbringings in the British countryside to the bright lights of London and more recently, NYC. He has shared the stage with local and international artists including Belinda Carlisle and Tommy Emmanuel. When he is not touring you can find him performing in Manhattan most nights at clubs and restaurants (see the SHOWS page for more information). He is also a respected music educator and has taught all levels from early education to college level and everything in-between. He currently teaches for the NY Presbyterian Hospital and ‘Music Together programs. His own songs from his debut album ‘Ten Songs About Truth, Lies & Other Things’ (produced by Ian Grimble – Elton John/Cat Stevens) have been featured on national television and radio in the UK as well as the Movie ‘Tomorrow Is Today’ in the USA. More recently he has performed in Nashville with award winning Top 40 radio artist D.A. Cole and with Bangladeshi artist ‘Muza’ on his track ‘Bondhurey’ which reached 3 million views in just 3 weeks! He is currently working on his new album which he hopes to release in 2020. The album ‘Ten songs about truth, lies and other things’ is available now on Apple Music and Spotify. www.youtube.com/aaronshortmusic www.instagram.com/aaronshortmusic www.twitter.com/aaronshortmusic www.facebook.com/aaronshortmusic www.aaronshortmusic.com

  17. What is a Line 6 CS Ambassador? A Line 6 CS Ambassador is a member of the Line 6 community who’s guitar talent, technical expertise, instructional content, and openness to help others in the Helix community deserve a call-out from Line 6/YGG. These folks are not Line 6 employees, but are an amazing source of expertise in the use of Helix to create, perform, and produce guitar music. Some or all of these apply to all Ambassadors: - are longtime members of the various online Helix communities. - are giving of their time and expertise to help others in the Helix community. - produce excellent online content highlighting what Helix can do. - actively promote the use of Helix to create amazing music and solve problems for guitarists.
  18. Hi. We're sorry to see you run into trouble. Most guitars work fine with G10, but some instruments will not due to their wiring or the jack's physical configuration. There's an adapter that comes with the G10 that will help with most fit or compatibility issues. Please see this article for more details. If you feel the system is broken and needs to be replaced, please contact our staff with a ticket at www.Line6.com/support/tickets, and supply a receipt copy to show you're under warranty.

  20. Q: How come my DL4 pedal says “9V AC” for Power Requirements, but the DC-DL4’s output is rated 12V DC? A: The DL4 was originally designed to be battery powered, or to optionally be powered by the Line 6 PX-2G power supply (which was a 9V AC output). Due to Level VI power supply efficiency requirements in North America, the PX-2G was discontinued in North America. However, the DL4, as well as the DM4, MM4, FM4 and AM4 stompboxes, can also work with a center-positive 12V DC supply, such as the DC-DL4 power supply.

Marketplace lets you purchase custom Helix presets and impulse responses (IRs) created by select third-party development partners. You can browse by product or developer, listen to audio examples, and even watch demo videos if provided. Checkout is a breeze and you can pay with either credit card or PayPal. Why was Marketplace created? Our primary goal was to develop Helix as an open platform that will serve you for many years to come. We believe that will be best accomplished by supporting a vibrant, thriving community of third-party developers that continually expand the sonic and creative capabilities of Helix, HX, and now POD Go, products. Can anyone become a Marketplace partner? Our goal is to provide you with high-quality products and a great overall experience. For these reasons, we will carefully curate Marketplace and include only partners that we feel meet those expectations. What kinds of products are available on Marketplace? Marketplace offers impulse response files (IRs) and presets. These products will be sold individually and within collections or bundles, for example multiple impulse response files of the same amplifier with different microphones. The exact contents of each product are described on the respective Marketplace shop page. Can I use the Helix Presets in my POD Go? No, POD Go cannot accept Helix or HX presets. How much do Marketplace products cost? Pricing is determined entirely by the third-party developer, and we expect most products will sell for between $5 and $50. Can Marketplace products be returned? Yes. Our standard 15-day return policy applies. Returned Marketplace products will be deactivated once you log out and back in. Will there be free products as well? Some developers may offer free products for promotional purposes. Please check Marketplace listings on a regular basis. Can I still load non-Marketplace presets and IRs? Of course. Marketplace simply provides a convenient way to purchase additional resources and access them at any time. Will Custom Tone be removed? Not to worry. Custom Tone will still be available without changes. Who provides customer support for third-party products? Please contact third-party developers regarding setup and usage of their Helix presets and impulse responses. Third party contact information can be found on corresponding product pages within Marketplace. Contact Line 6 regarding Helix products generally, and questions involving the Marketplace online shop - including billing issues and difficulties downloading or importing presets and IRs. Which Line 6 products work with Marketplace products? Helix Floor, Helix Rack/Control, Helix LT, Helix Native, HX Stomp, HX Effects and POD Go. Do I need a specific firmware and software version to use Marketplace products? Yes. You need these versions (or higher) to support Marketplace: Helix/HX firmware v2.9 HX Edit v2.9 Helix Native v1.9 POD Go firmware version 1.1 POD Go Edit version 1.1 Will you add support for other Line 6 products, y’know, like Powercab? We cannot discuss future development plans at this time. I purchased a Marketplace item and cannot find the software download. Where do I need to look? You can find all your Marketplace downloads on the “Helix Marketplace” page within your Line 6 account. The link to this page is located in the “Hardware & Software” section on the main account page. We also provide a link directly to this page within the “How to Authorize Your Line 6 Product” email that you receive after any Marketplace purchase. Can I use items purchased through Marketplace with non-Line 6 products? All third-party items sold through Marketplace are copy-protected and require HX Edit software, POD Go Edit software or the Helix Native plug-in to work. For this reason, they cannot be used with modeling devices or software from other manufacturers. How does this copy protection method work? Do I need additional hardware or dongles? Products purchased through Marketplace are automatically activated when imported into HX Edit, POD Go Edit or Helix Native. The activation process requires internet connectivity upon first use. The computer that was used for import gets authorized in the process, and no additional hardware or dongles are needed. How many licenses do I get? Can I share these licenses with others? We allow up to four individual computers to be authorized. If you own multiple hardware units, you can update all units without affecting license count. Finally, licenses are tied to your Line 6 user account and cannot be shared with others. Activation requires internet connectivity. How often will I need an internet connection? You will need to have an active internet connection every time you use a newly purchased product. The connection is needed so that our system can validate your license. Once a product was used at least once, the system remembers its state and will allow usage offline without internet access. I discovered that POD Go Edit, HX Edit and Helix Native require Line 6 account log-in. Why is this necessary? You will be asked to log into your Line 6 account if you work with third party products purchased through Marketplace. Log in is only required for the system to install or synchronize licenses, for example when importing third party Helix presets for the first time*. Log in will not be required if you do not use presets or IRs purchased through Marketplace. * On Windows systems, you may need to be online at all times in order to import and export Marketplace presets and IRs. What are the most common uses for IRs? The most common use for an IR that you will see is to replace a Cabinet model with your own third party Cabinet IR. This allows you to use a third-party sound mixed in with your favorite Helix amp tones. The IR in this case will usually include everything about the cabinet model as part of the sound, including: speaker type, mics used, mic placement, room sound. The other way you might see IRs being used is for the purpose of an acoustic simulator, especially modeling the EQ of an acoustic guitar sound. You may see some of these in your preset packs, or offered by third parties as part of a preset bundle. Can I buy dog food, tequila, or 19th-century expressionist paintings via Marketplace? What? No.
