NOTE: We have discovered that the Cabinet Modeling switch is producing unintended results. We have fixed this in firmware 1.04, available very soon. Please download and use Line 6 Updater, found at www.Line6.com/software, to update your amp. See this article for updating instructions: How To Update the Spider V Amp The Cabinet Modeling switch was added so that if you don't want to run your guitar signal in full range with cabinet modeling, you can disable it for just the external speaker outputs. A good example for when to use this is if you have your own particular cabinet and you want to hear the natural sound of that cabinet with no cabinet modeling applied (like a traditional amp head). You can still use the direct outputs if need be in a live situation (common for our older amp products like DT50). With no external cabinet: The switch has no function. Cabinet modeling remains engaged regardless of the switch position. With an external cabinet plugged into the speaker outputs: The switch toggles cabinet modeling for the guitar signal that's sent to the speaker outputs. Switch is ON - Spider V treats the external cabinet and built-in tweeters as a full range system for guitar signals, with cabinet modeling applied in the preset. It also allows full range playback for built-in drum loops, the aux input, and USB playback. Switch is OFF - Spider V disables the cabinet block within the preset and sends the processed mono or stereo guitar signal to only the external speaker outputs. Its built-in speakers are turned off. The XLR, USB and Headphone outputs are fed with a guitar signal that is summed to mono and processed with a Spider 4x12 cabinet and SM 57 microphone model. These outputs can be used for recording or as a feed for a mixing board when playing live. Additional Information - The built-in 4" low-frequency speakers in the head switch off as soon as an external cabinet is connected. - All playback such as drum loops, the aux input and USB playback will continue to play through both the external cabinet and the built-in tweeters, regardless of the switch position.

What is Echo Farm 3.0 ? Echo Farm is a 64-bit delay modeler plug-in for the Pro Tools 11+ AAX Native platform. It offers 12 different delay models based on a combination of actual hardware devices and Line 6 originals and provides simple and effective controls for delay time, repeats, and other specialized parameters, such as magnetic head pattern or bit reduction. Echo Farm was introduced in the year 2000 as a Pro Tools TDM plug-in and became extremely popular, used on a multitude of award-winning records and soundtracks. Due to popular demand, we now make Echo Farm available as an AAX Native plug-in. When will Echo Farm be available and how much will it cost? Echo Farm 3.0 is available now through the Line 6 online store. The standard AAX license costs $199. What are the OS requirements? Mac OS Mountain Lion version 10.8.3 and higher Windows 7 and higher Is there an upgrade path to the AAX version? Yes there is, for registered 2.x TDM owners. The upgrade from 2.x TDM to 3.0 AAX costs $49. Both the 2.x TDM and the 3.0 AAX Echo Farm licenses need to be associated with the same iLok account for the upgrade to work. Will I have to surrender my Echo Farm TDM license when I activate the AAX license? Yes, the TDM license will be surrendered and voided when the AAX license is activated. This is irreversible. The AAX license will not authorize the TDM plugin. How can I tell if I own the 2.x TDM version? If you can see an Echo Farm license in the iLok License Manager program, you qualify. From Digidesign's archive: Echo Farm 2.0 or higher requires iLok authorization Beginning in December, 2002, all registered Echo Farm owners that purchased the older retail version of Echo Farm that shipped with floppy key disk authorizations were automatically sent Echo Farm 2.0 update kits with the installer CD and an iLok License Card. Is an iLok device required to use Echo Farm 3.0? Yes, it requires a version 2 or version 3 iLok device. Echo Farm 3.0 cannot use your computer alone as an authorizing device. Can I try it before I buy it? Yes. A time-limited demo version of Echo Farm 3.0 can be activated at line6.com/ilok. What changed in Echo Farm between the TDM and AAX version? Are there any new delay models? Our design goal was to provide 100% session compatibility and ensure that older projects open smoothly in Pro Tools 11 and higher. For this reason, we kept the Echo Farm AAX feature set unchanged from the TDM version. However, the AAX version now supports sampling rates up to 192 kHz, which was not possible with the older TDM version. What are your plans for an AAX DSP version of Echo Farm? We plan to release the plug-in on the AAX Native platform initially and evaluate demand for AAX DSP subsequently. Will Echo Farm AAX work with Pro Tools 10? Echo Farm AAX is a 64-bit plug-in and thus requires Pro Tools 11 or higher to function. What about Amp Farm? Will you port Amp Farm to AAX, too? Absolutely. We plan to make Amp Farm available for the AAX platform after the release of Echo Farm. At this time, we cannot comment on specifics related to pricing or availability.

Hello, all. Some Spider V customers have expressed that they were expecting a Mac/PC editor because the amp includes a USB port, and that the manual’s wording on item (17) in the Rear Panel Connections section adds to the confusion: MAC/PC/ANDROID USB B Port – Connect a Mac/PC or Android device (with OTG adapter) to edit tones, update, playback and record audio. Future releases of the manual will revise this wording to read: MAC/PC/ANDROID USB B Port – Connect a Mac/PC (update; playback/record audio) or Android device with OTG adapter (edit tones; update; playback/record audio). As it stands, there is no Mac/PC editor, but we are aware of the request for one. At this time, we cannot divulge if or when one will be released. We apologize for any misunderstandings. As always, you are encouraged to voice your opinion at line6.ideascale.com, where ideas are voted on and consistently reviewed by our Product Managers.

We’ve been made aware that Jammit, with whom we shared a cross-marketing partnership in conjunction with Sonic Port, has ceased operations, and that the Jammit app no longer is available. Line 6 currently has no details on the status of Jammit as a company nor the status of its app. We will post any additional information we may receive about this as it comes to us.

Apple has introduced a new warning message with iOS 10.1. The message reads: “[App Name] may slow down your iPhone/iPadâ€, followed by “The developer of this app needs to update it to improve its compatibility.†Despite this message, our testing did not reveal any issues with the StageScape app on iOS 10. In any event, Stagescape Remote 1.21 resolves this issue. With this update, Stagescape Remote will work with iOS 11 (and above) and the warning that the app needs to be updated will no longer appear.

Spider V Firmware 2.00 Release Notes Spider V Firmware 2.00.0 is a FREE firmware update that includes new features, fixes, stability improvements, and optimizations for Spider V and Spider V MkII amplifiers. It is highly recommended that all Spider V users perform this update. This update will not affect any presets that have been modified by the user. If you wish to reload the factory presets, this can be performed by pressing and holding the home button and scrolling down to the "Factory Reset" function. Thank you for using Spider V! New Features: Classic Speaker Mode – Added a new parameter within cabinet settings called "Speaker". The value "Classic" overrides the selected cabinet model and routes the processed guitar signal to only the woofer, which has been re-voiced for each model of Spider V. This allows Spider V to deliver a more familiar combo amp experience. This can also be set to "Full Range" which operates as it did before –with the selected cabinet and mic modeling and includes the tweeter. USB, AUX IN, drum loops and metronome will still route to the full range speaker system as before. New Presets – New presets for vintage amps by a renowned tube amp builder that take advantage of the new classic speaker mode. The entire preset bundle has been revised to take advantage of this new feature with the exception of the Acoustic Guitar presets which still utilize the full range speaker mode. New and revised artist presets are also included. To get these new presets, we recommend to first create a backup of your existing presets, then perform the Factory Reset. Preset Labels – Each preset now has a contextual label that is helpful for identifying the purpose of the preset or its author. Improvements: All Amp model default values have been revised. All FX model default values have been revised. XLR output volume has been lowered to better accommodate consumer-grade audio interfaces and mixers.

Thanks everyone for getting into the Spider V. We hope you’re enjoying all that it has to offer. We’ve found that with certain new product launches, it’s helpful to keep a running thread of your experiences with connecting various Android mobile devices, whether it works or not. With such a wide variance in offerings and specs, it’s impossible for us to test all of them, so maybe this thread will help answer some customer questions, while possibly helping Line 6 spot issues/trends with a given group of devices. Here is the Spider V / Android Device USB Compatibility Check article that should help you find out if your device support USB Host Mode, which is required for the Spider V Remote app to communicate with Spider V amplifiers. Please post your device model, Android OS, and Compatibility Check results. Thanks for your input. Please remember to visit https://line6.ideascale.com with any feature requests you may have.

Some Android mobile devices do not fully support "USB Host mode", which is required for the Spider V Remote app to communicate with Spider V amplifiers. We have found that the Google Play store offers free third party "USB Host Diagnostics" utility apps that may identify potential issues with USB Host mode support. While we do not officially endorse any such app, we suggest utilizing YouTube as a tutorial resource for working with your choice of app.

Apple’s iOS 10 and watchOS 3 are being released to the public today. Our testing with these new operating systems has shown that all of our software and hardware are working as expected with these systems. Two notes to be aware of: On the first run of Stagescape Remote or MIDI Memo Recorder, a dialog will be displayed stating that this application has not been optimized and may have slow performance. This is an Apple message which occurs because of the age of these apps. In our testing, these apps perform well in iOS 10. iOS 10 drops support for all 30-pin devices. So, MIDI Mobilizer, MIDI Mobilizer II and MobileIn are no longer supported. Here is a list of iOS devices which are no longer supported beginning with iOS 10: -iPhone 4s -iPad 2 -iPad 3 -iPad Mini 1 -iPod touch (5th Generation)

Like its predecessors, Windows 10 has a compatibility mode to allow users to run older programs written back when previous versions of Windows were the newest operating system. Right click on the app. Select "Properties". Click the Compatibility tab. Under the banner, a check box will appear next to the text "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" with the options in a drop down menu. The various Windows operating systems will appear, depending on the app. A more involved option is to install a virtual version of the old operating system of your choice (“virtual machine†or "VM") on your computer. This is different than dual-booting a computer, where the user divides/partitions the space on a single hard drive and installs a different operating system on each section, allowing the user to choose which OS is booted when the computer is powered on. The advantage with VM is the ability to run a program in the operating system that it was designed for in the first place. Windows 10 is compatible with Microsoft Virtual PC, a virtualization software that allows Windows users to run multiple versions of Windows, all the way back to Windows XP. This is a free download from the Microsoft Download Center. Microsoft provided a free copy of Windows XP to run in Windows 7 Pro. Pro versions of Windows 8.1 include Hyper-V to host alternative operating systems. Otherwise, Oracle’s (formerly Sun’s) VirtualBox and VMWare are some of the more common options available and are accessible for Windows, Mac and Linux users. Mac users can also use Boot Camp and Parallels to access alternate OS versions.
