Dramey
Using the Guitar + Vocal template. I chose left Helix input 7-8, so I would get a dry vocal track to mess with in Sonar and proceeded to lay down the vocal take of my life. It of course did not get recorded. My mic is in my vocal booth (aka bathroom) so I couldn't see there was no signal :(. On the same preset, the guitar signal comes through, but as soon as you switch the input to mic, nothing. This needs to be changed. It sucks. Is there a way to get an unprocessed mic signal in to my DAW?
Lachdanan0121
Is there a way to get an unprocessed mic signal in to my DAW? I don't have a Helix yet, but I don't see why there wouldn't be. I mean if it isn't that would be a major oversight, and if confirmed, I will be putting it up on Ideascale. For a Unit with such routing flexibility, not having this ability would be pretty bad. But lets hear back from someone who has done it, or works for line6 before adding something to Ideascale that may already available.
phil_m
Are you getting a signal from the mic through the Helix otherwise? Are you using a condensor that needs phantom power?
Dramey
Are you getting a signal from the mic through the Helix otherwise? Are you using a condensor that needs phantom power? Yes, it records the processed signal on 1-2 just fine.
amsdenj
Check your track inputs. I think with that Helix patch the dry guitar is USB 7 and dry vocal is USB 8.
TexLefty65
I think you need to configure the source for the Dry USB7 and 8 within the Global Settings > Ins & Outs, on the 3rd page. USB 7 and 8 are different than other Ins/outs and always carry the dry, unprocessed signal, and you have to choose their source there (rather than from the input block menu for the current preset). duncann
TexLefty65 is right. The defaults are guitar on USB 7, mic on USB 8. So in your DAW, make sure to set the input for the track on USB 8.
Dramey
Thanks guys. That's not very intuitive, but I'll check it out tomorrow.
Digital_Igloo
If you're using the Guitar+Vocal template, set the Vocal path's output to USB 3/4 (or 5/6). In your DAW, record two tracks—one stereo set to USB In 3/4 (or 5/6) and another set to USB 8. Track one will record your vocals processed, and track two will record your vocals dry, in case you wish to reamp them later.
