suckamc
A search of this forum and Google hasn't yielded a firm answer on this question, since no one seems quite sure what the max current draw of the Helix is. Past threads about it are dead ends. But can anyone confirm for sure whether one can reliably power the Helix from a pedal power's courtesy outlet? JLondon
To my knowledge, plugging into my Voodoo Lab Power Plus 2 courtesy outlet is absolutely no different from plugging into an extension cord or any wall outlet. I would not be afraid in any way whatsoever to plug my Helix into it.
suckamc
It is different. The courtesy jack has a maximum capacity. That's why the manual warns "do not plug your amp into the courtesy jack!"
ricstudioc
The bottom label on the Helix clearly states 60w max. Not even the draw of a decent living room light bulb. Rough it out to about half an amp....
spikey
What is the pedal powers max current capacity on the courtesy outlet? Then you will know if Helix draws too much current for it or not.
ColonelForbin
What is the pedal powers max current capacity on the courtesy outlet? Then you will know if Helix draws too much current for it or not. Rear Courtesy Auxiliary AC outlet, 200 watts max http://www.voodoolab.com/pedalpower_2.htm
spikey
Rear Courtesy Auxiliary AC outlet, 200 watts max http://www.voodoolab.com/pedalpower_2.htm So I=P/E = 200W/120 VAC = 1.666 amps... So this Courtesy Aux AC outlet should work just fine if Helix only draws 60 watts (1/2 an amp) max @ 120 VAC...
