bsd512
When changing from one preset to another where I've incorporated snapshots, sometimes the preset I just switched to shows that it has been edited, with the "E" icon? That's without touching anything - just switching to the preset. Normal? Anyone else seeing this? I haven't seen any ill affects from it, otherwise, but perhaps it's a display bug? I don't know why it would say the preset has been edited after I had just switched to it.
phil_m
If you have some or all of your expression pedals set to global instead of per preset or snapshot, I believe that may give the E symbol if the pedal is in a different position than it was when you saved the preset. Not totally sure about that, but it would make sense, I think.
robbieb61
I'm not currently using any expression pedals (because of the bug with the wah & snapshots that was discussed in another thread) and yeah...the second I move from one snapshot to another the "E" for edited comes up. I'm just ignoring it. :)
bsd512
Thanks for the reply. That doesn't seem to be it - I can move the expression pedal without the edit icon showing so it must not be mapped per preset. I did reboot my Helix and now I can't reproduce the issue where it was happening every time before rebooting. I'm ignoring it, too. :)
MonkeyXT
My 'E' indicator comes on quite frequently - my expression pedals are set to preset / non-global currently. Using Helix Rack & Controller. As above, I ignore it... but it gives me pause sometimes, wondering if I've tweaked something that I meant to keep, and in an unusual but not-unheard-of move, neglected to save. robbieb61
Well, moving from one snapshot to another is by definition changing the preset, so, yeah, that makes sense. That's kind of what I figured. And it DOES make sense. For instance...I like to start the Helix up with "snapshot 1" and work from there. But if I were editing snapshot 3 and hit "save" before going back to snapshot 1...then the thing would start up on snapshot 3 instead of 1. I just ignore it...unless I'm tweaking the settings of a snapshot during a session. In that case (where I've changed a setting)...I will hit "save" one more time before I shut down just to make sure. bsd512
Just to clarify, not to be confused with robbieb61, what I was referring to wasn't due selecting a different snapshot once on a preset. I got the edit indicator when selecting a whole new preset. They were marked edited immediately after being loaded.
silverhead
I have this happening sometimes too - the 'E' appears immediately upon selecting a preset. I've tracked it down to an external pedal assignment. At the heel or toe position Helix is reading the pedal's position as slightly fluctuating, for instance the display shows it moving from 1% to 3% even though it is not physically moving. This is sufficient to have Helix detect a phantom change in the preset.

I rarely use it, so it pretty stays there all the time. But even when I move it, I don't get the edit indicator. But your tracking it down to that is as good an explanation as I've heard so far.
