CBTL
I pretty much use my JTV69 exclusively with my helix. I sat down to have a play today and something isn't right. Any patches created before 2.11 are up the wall bat lollipop crazy 😕. I use snapshots to change parts through songs making use of the variax with helix changing pickups/models/volume/tuning etc. None of this is working correctly. Helix is changing to a random choice of anything between snaps. At the moment I am spending more time trying to fix stuff than I am playing, it's really taking the enjoyment out of it. Iv tried a global reset and reload of the bundle but this does nothing.
Leftzilla
I have had no problems with my setup on 2.11 but I have not jumped into changing Variax with snapshots (That was my next try). Right now Variax (JTV89F) is changing correctly with patches. Once the global reset went I did have to go back and reinput the variax patch changes. silverhead
The Gobal Reset changes the global Variax setting from Preset to Global. You need to change it back to Preset manually. You do this in any Input block in any preset. Changing it in one preset changes it in all others until/unless you change it back (or do another global reset). It's acting really strange. It's even selecting alt tunnings. I'm might try reflashing the vairiax.
silverhead
Yeah - something's wrong. A reflash might work. I use a JTV-59 with Helix. As of v2.11 the interaction seems fine. The only thing I wish would work differently is the default behaviour when Helix starts up. On my JTV-59 the startup setting is forced to Variax Mags (modelling off) even though the startup Helix preset is set to Force a specific model. As soon as I switch presets the modeling is turned on and works fine. If I don't switch presets I have to turn modeling on manually.
revans
After upgrading to 2.11, resetting globals, changing the input Variax settings back to per preset, and restoring my presets, several snapshots would select a Variax model different from what was displayed in the setting. I tried several things to try to fix the problem but the only thing that worked was changing the input block to guitar, saving the preset, changing the input block back to multi, setting the desired Variax model in each snapshot, and saving the preset again. Maybe this workaround will fix your problem.
sminchk67
My JTV-59 stopped working with the Helix altogether after the 2.10 update, I hoped that 2.11 would help, but, no dice...the tunings are no longer changing, and the Helix acts like it's not recognizing the Variax now. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the VDI cable at both ends. I was having a similar symptom after an update and this resolved the issues. I guess the moral is that we should disconnect the VDI cable prior to updating.

I have had to go into helix and clear the controllers from the unit rather than on the app and then reassign. Try a reflash too.
amsdenj
I have found that some VDI cables work better than others, especially in my Variax 700 Acoustic. I have an old one from Line6 that works great, perfect every time. I have another new one I just bought that doesn't fit quite the same and is intermittent. I have to wiggle it to make it work in that guitar. Its fine in my other two Variaxes. Looks like the connections are a bit fussy.
