Mongo79
That's how I feel looking for the correct software to download to my PC, so I can download custom tones and other information (such as the latest firmware upgrade).Am I the only one experiencing this? It's like I need a pack of Philadelphia lawyers to figure out this navigation.Where do I go to download the correct editor for my Helix? Will I be able to view downloaded custom tones with this or do I need an additional download?
Verne-Bunsen
You are definitely not alone. Without getting overly critical, I'll just say that the Helix update procedure could use an... update.... The link in the instructions takes you to the Line 6 software download page. From the three fields at the top select "Helix" from the first and leave the second one as "All Software" and select your computer's OS from the third. Hit "GO". This will take you to the release notes. Down at the bottom of that post, almost camouflaged, is a link that says "Get Download". Do that, make sure you've followed all the steps in the instructions up to that point, and run it, following the update instructions. This will install the new editor and updater. Once that is done, running the updater will perform the actual Helix firmware update. Do make sure to follow the instructions for the update procedure to the letter, bad things seem to happen when people don't... Good luck! You're actually better off leaving the first field blank and selecting Helix from the second field. That will give you the link to the editor app (just called "Helix"), and the download package includes the latest version of the editor, Line 6 Updater and the drivers (if you're on a PC). If you select Helix in the first field, that will bring up a list of all downloads of everything associated with the Helix - the editor, Line 6 Updater, driver, the flash memory file. I think this why people get messed up. The installation package for the editor has everything needed for the update.
PeterHamm
I never thought I'd say this. "I miss Monkey"...
MusicLaw
The informed and knowledgable replies to the OP's scenario reflect a perfect example of the abounding ambiguity and confusion which results from Line 6's existing methods! The sooner Line 6 overhauls this portion of their site and software, the better it will be for all users.
ricstudioc
Another vote to get this squared away/streamlined - not undoable, but a bit of a guessing game. I suppose if they released updates every week or so I'd have it down pat, but months apart (which is fine, get it right not fast...) and I have to reacquaint myself with the procedure each time. I never thought I'd say this. "I miss Monkey"... Well.... yeah, kinda....
