Riki1
On my Boss DD-500 a very useful feature in the edit menu is Tone -50 to +50. This makes the sound of the repeats darker or lighter and can quickly get what im after. I'm finding I can't get the same tones at the moment using Line 6 Helix LT. can anyone offer some advice ? I'm looking for Tape delay, possibly with heads 1 and 2. I've been trying Transisteor Tape effect but can't get it to sound the way I need it to. Analogue Delay , subtle but like a boss DM-2W I'll have another sit down later with it and try anything that gets posted here. Played my first gig with the Helix and it went really well, although I really need to go over everything as some songs the volume was too high and some not high enough. That's mostly because I've used the preamp blocks and ones like voxac30 bring the whole volume down so I add an eq and boost the level. PeterHamm
Vintage Digital has adjustable sample rate which will do some of this, but you can also run a parallel path with 100% wet delay and add an EQ to do whatever you want to it.

So pull down a delay and add an eq block in front of the delay then join it back up before a reverb? Think I get you :)
zooey
I too wish there was more direct control of tone in the delays. Ideall there'd be low and high cut for the whole effect, adn separate low and high cut for the feedback loop that does the repeats. I get by ok with various block types and their different settings, but that's such a basic feature, and I don't want to waste a whole parallel path just to get it.
Joepeggio
Kind of off but on topic..... I'm hoping for, as seen lately with the Amps (Litigator), that line 6 will start putting in their own creation effects. Its essential to have a TS808, Memory Man, Etc modeled effects, but a fully adjustable line 6 delay, reverb, drive, distortion, etc. would be great.
Riki1
I'll try out the parelell path option and see if it gets me what I'm after, but yeah it does seem odd not to have it as a parameter like everything else, my Source Audio Nemesis had it,boss dd500 had it, and every other delay pedal I've owned except one (Aqua puss) has it
phil_m
Try lowering the headroom parameter on the Transistor Tape model to get the repeats to be darker sounding. Other delay models have high and low cut parameters (the Mod/Chorus Echo, Sweep Echo, Ducked Delay, Reverse Delay, and Pitch Echo) and you can use those to get the repeats in the tonal territory you want. As far as the analog models, the the Adriatic Delay is a model of a modded Boss DM-2, and setting the BBD Size parameter and lowering the headroom parameter will get you some really nice washed out sounds.
Riki1
Thanks sooo much Phil. I'll have a 3 hours free time finally tomorrow to try that out. I quickly tried selecting a delay and pressing the action button - then pulling it down - then putting an eq in front and making the delay 100% wet and then joined it back up to the top line before the output and it didn't work. Just sounded like I'd done something wrong? What's the best way to get clear delays and reverbs with this Helix, straight line, pulling the delay down etc. ? I don't know as I've always used pedals delay into reverb into amp done.
hideout
So pull down a delay and add an eq block in front of the delay then join it back up before a reverb? Think I get you :) I would tend to put the EQ block after the delay.

Very clear, and the modulation, if you want it, is nice.
Riki1
I'll try that
Riki1
Through my fender twin reverb 65 straight in with no Amp or cab sims (obviously) I couldn't hear any difference adjusting headroom etc. I'll try adding an eq after a delay
jbuhajla
I don't know as I've always used pedals delay into reverb into amp done. Try that first since that is what you are used to. You can then experiment. Switch up the order, run delay/reverb in parallel, etc... That's the beauty of Helix, you just move the blocks around in the simulated signal paths.
