Tap Tempo noisy foot swtich noise

Hi all,

Just curious if you could help me.  I have a Helix and I use it mainly in church.  We are a smaller church (around 250).  The helix tap tempo foot switch is noisy.  The problem isn't the foot switch.  It was designed that way.  Does anyone have external solution to use a more quiet tap tempo foot control?  During the beginning of softer songs you can hear the clicking of the tap tempo.  We don't play with tracks otherwise I'd set up the tempo per song per patch.

Thanks,

Eric

The only way to connect an external tap pedal to the Helix is with MIDI, and there aren't really a ton of options available. There's this, but it's $129. I don't think the switch would be all that much quieter, if at all. I mean, is the tap switch really loud enough to be noticed? I've used my Helix at my church, which, like yours, is smaller, and has all sorts of reflective surfaces. It has never been an issue. Maybe you just need to tell people to loosen up... :-)

My church is about the size of yours, maybe smaller, and I've nether been scared to tap on the switches.  Ask your sound person if they can hear the clicking from the back.  You may think it's loud, especially during soundcheck when there are no bodies there, but are people complaining or is it just bothering you?  On the other hand, our room is pretty noisy with all the babies and small children.

I create a preset per song with the tempos pre-programmed. Even though each of the presets is identical (I have one main patch I use), the tempos for each preset is different. I don't like the clicking of tap tempo at church either.
