Can the Helix HX Mode and Tap footswitches be assigned to switch patches?

I need 8 footswitches to switch patches. Can the Mode and Tap footswitches be used/reassigned for this like on the Helix floor?

Are you asking about the HX Effects? 

As far as I know, you cannot re-assign the MODE and TAP on that device,,, just as they cannot be re-assigned on the Helix LT.

Actaully, they can’t be reassigned on the Floor, either.

But can be programmed for sending program changes in control center and looped back by MIDI cable, can't they?

You can assign commands to those switches in Stomp Mode, but the original functions of them would remain active as well. So assigning a PC command to change presets with the Mode switch would probably frustrating as you would switch from Stomp Mode to Preset Mode whenever you hit that switch.

Not frustrating at all. Whenever I press FS1 or FS9 I can always come back where I was by pressing "Mode". They seem to me "wasted" cause I hardly use presets. I have great plans for them ;)
