specracer986
I was looking at the JTV's on Reverb and realized that the two USA 69 models that were listed, don't have a truss rod adjustment point on the headstock. I hadn't noticed that before and think it's kind of weird. I hate having to pull the neck to adjust the truss rod and if I had paid as much as a USA model cost, I'd be pretty unhappy about it. I wonder what the reasoning was for that design change from the Asian made models?

I believe that it has the adjustment screw on the side of the neck, near the heel... similar to Warmoth's "modern construction" necks: http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/Necks/Strat_WarmothPro.aspx If not, I wouldn't buy it either... honestly I wouldn't pay the exorbitant price they demand anyway, but I digress... Repeatedly unbolting the neck is not only an insufferable pain in the a$$, but sooner or later you'll strip the threads in one or more of those holes, and have to dowel and re-drill. Been there, done that with "vintage"- style necks. It's a stupid design.
phil_m
The truss rod access is at the other end of the neck where the heel connects to the body. You don't have to remove the neck to adjust it. You can see the access in this photo of my JTV-69US.

specracer986
Phil; I saw the crescent shape opening in the pick guard. It doesn't look large enough to slip a hex key into without loosening the neck. Do you know if you can do a truss rod adjustment without loosening the neck or pick guard? My JP15 and Am Elite Tele both have an adjustment wheel at the heel of the neck. Definitely the easiest system for me.

I didn't have to loosen the neck or remove the pick guard. The opening is angled so the wrench just fits in there.
specracer986
Cool, that guitar is a beauty. I didn't know they came in sunburst with a maple board.
