Broken cable lid. Now sizzing sound.

Recommended Posts

If connected by Jack to any PA my JTV does a loud SSSSHHHHHH.

When in pick up mode.

2 years ago the cap covering the VDI input broke, so its always open.

Maybe it's full of dust now?

How to clean?

Thanks!

That's the stuff. You might want to try just blowing some compressed air in it first. But if I'm reading this right, I don't think that would be the issue if I understand you correctly.

Yea I tried contact spray but without compressing air in first.

I will try that.

Meanwhile setting NR noisereduction to about 1/3-1/2 helps a lot.

Boss gt1

But anyway, the modelled sounds sounding less then the pick up sounds.

Might one mix them more and buy workbench HD.

With workbench it can be done very well but not saved(

Well, workbench is actually free for Variax owners and can be saved to the guitar directly along with modifying the Variax directly within the patch on Helix.  In fact you can switch between the mags and the models or use both at the same time in Helix.  This would be a good test to determine if there is more damage to the VDI ingterfcae to the guitar than initially thought.  If Helix or workbench can't communicate or see the guitar than there is a bigger problem with the interface especially after cleaning contacts.
