MrJimAnd
*** FIX FOUND!!! I noticed if I made the entire patch from scratch with the exact same settings it fixes it. *** I upgraded to the new 2.8 Helix firmware. I use a single preset and only change sounds using Snapshots. The very specific thing happening is when I switch from my Snapshot 4 to Snapshot 3. It has a loud quick volume boost for like a quarter of a second. It ONLY happens when switching one amp head on and bypassing the other amp head. Going from Snapshot 4 to 3 is MUCH more noticeable than Snapshot 3 to 4. Going from 2 to 3 on the same amp head does no audible problems. My Snapshot 3 has Essex A30 and Snapshot 4 has Cali Rectifier. Snapshot 3 has the A30 on and the Cali bypassed. Snapshot 4 has Cali on and A30 bypassed. In the signal chain the Cali is 1st and the A30 is second (incase that matters) Helix.m4v Edited July 30, 2019 by jimanderson1 Fix found
codamedia
I see more than the amp changing state with that snapshot change. I could be wrong but it looks like you may have a delay (lowest path) and a compressor (highest path) also changing state. Have you eliminated those as the problem in your troubleshooting.... or are you just assuming it's the amp change? IME, it is very important to eliminate ALL possibilities. Makron
It's lag, 2.80 doesn't turn off instantly blocks, these are still sounding for a while.

When I turn those both on and off by hand even at the same time it makes no noise. I even bypassed them to make ONLY the amp that turned on and off and it still does it with just the amp. Left effects on to amplify what I hear and how annoying it is when I play a gig. ;)

I too believe that’s happening. I think for a moment both amps are on at the same time. >.<. Hoping there will be a fix fast. Annoying live. hreinders
I encounter the same problem. Hopefully this will be restored soon, because I don't want go back and forth. Edited July 29, 2019 by hreinders

I noticed if I made the entire patch from scratch with the exact same settings it fixes it. *** You know I could be wildly incorrect here but I have seen so many posts and topics regarding problems with legacy presets from a prior version of the firmware. I know some of those bugs have turned out to be legitimate but I am also thinking one of the first things that anyone who is having wonky behavior with prior firmware presets should try is the procedure below. There have been some previous firmware versions where this seemed to help a lot of people. I know that the Helix is supposed to handle an "upgrade in place" for prior firmware setlists/presets identically to reloading them afterwards but I am not absolutely sure it is. Has this notion crossed anybody else's mind? I think it also may have something to do with exactly what blocks, routes, and settings were used in each individuals former presets. Some may be more problematic for upgrades than other. Maybe reloading setlists from backups is handled differently in certain circumstances than just leaving them in place for the firmware upgrade process. It seems like maybe more than a few people have had issues go away after explicitly reloading their backups. I suppose it could also have something to do with how closely they adhered to Line6's upgrade procedure or whether they had any bumps in the road while upgrading. Lastly of course there is always the possibility that both methods, "upgrade in place" or reloading from backup, miss something in translation and the only method available to fix certain presets, at least until a later firmware update, is to rebuild them from scratch. Make sure you have at least two sets of good backups of your old setllists!!!! I would save the setlists and/or presets individually as well as doing a "Create Backup". If you have good backups from a firmware version before 2.80 you may want to try restoring those instead of the ones that are potentially already corrupted in 2.80. Run the global reset procedure (get the new Factory and Template setlists if desired). Restore your presets. Line6 if this post is incorrect please chime in. Obviously I have no actual technical insight as to whether there actually is a difference in processing of legacy presets by the upgrade process versus reloading them.

spikey
Jim, can you please fix the topic to "Solved". Glad you found a fix.
hreinders
It's not a real fix, but a work-around ;-)
hreinders
Building the patch from scratch was not the solution for my patches. My problem is that I have patches where I switch from an acoustic snapshot to a modelling amp (for example US Double Nrm) using a Variax. To compensate the volume difference between these to snapshots I turn up the level in the Multi Output (+15dB) for the acoustic snapshot. This causes a quick decline and rise of the volume (amp off: decline, Multi-Output: rise). In previous versions this was not a problem, but in 2.80 it creates a nasty sound. My solution for this problem is to create a Split A/B: Route to A with a gain block for the acoustic snapshot and Route to B: the modelling amp. This works fine at home. I've to try it with the band. This seems the work fine atn the Multi Output (+15dB) for the Acoustic snapshot
