Linux Support?

Recommended Posts

You can google it, I seem to remember somebody writing drivers for Line6, of course it is not supported by Line6, but might be fun to try.

You can also submit a request here

http://line6.ideascale.com/

But I suspect it won't get voted up too high

Maybe continous requesting will trigger something :)

Well, a year ago or so I tried to open a support request to get the specs. Of course they didn't give away anything and closed the support request (later I found that they even deleted it).

I really don't get that secrecy since no internals are required to be disclosed, just the USB specs to be able to send and receive commands. And if someone really wants to (e.g. competitors), the binary driver will be reverse-engineered.

In fact, the only way a Linux driver is possible (and it was, for older POD hardware, thanks to Markus Grabner and Stefan Hajnoczi) is reverse engineering the USB protocol using a Windows computer.

Sad :(

at least in kernel 4.4 are included line6 modules. In ubuntu if you go to /lib/modules/4.4.0-36-generic/kernel/sound/usb/line6 you will see the modules:

snd-usb-line6
snd-usb-podhd
snd-usb-pod
snd-usb-toneport
snd-usb-variax

you should be able to load them with: modprobe
example:
sudo modprobe snd-usb-podhd

unfortunnately I haven't been able to bring my hd500x running, I don't know if it is because of the X or not. modprobe work's fine but I don't see it with

cat /proc/asound/cards

nor I see it in alsamixer.

hope this help, let us know how it goes.

Hello,

Old thread and I get it, just making noise that Linux Users Want HX Edit.

Where do we submit requests like this so Line 6 can hear us?

I mean a Yamaha company would get it right?  Almost no one plays a Yamaha electric so just ignore them?
