Niels_Kruse
Hi there, I recently updated my HX Stomp to v3.0. Since then, any settings or changes I make aren't saved. I edit a preset, save it, and when I switch to another preset and switch back to the previous one, it's empty. Has anybody had and solved this issue? Thanks in advance, Niels

If it is via the editor software, then please ensure that you are using version 3 of HX Edit. If the hardware is at fault, you could try a factory reset - try holding down FS2+3 while turning the power on to your Stomp. Note: this will erase any presets you have made. You can restore them from the backup you made prior to installing v3 firmware. HX Stomp Button Combination Description All 3 Footswitches Clears all presets/IRs FS1+2 Resets presets and IRs FS 2+3 Factory restore (globals, presets, IRs Hope this helps/makes sense.

Yep... this is critical information to know. 15 hours ago, Niels_Kruse said: I edit a preset, save it, and when I switch to another preset and switch back to the previous one, it's empty. Has anybody had and solved this issue? If by chance this is occurring through HX Edit.... I have always found it safer to press save on the Hardware. I used to get unpredictable results when saving through HX Edit... maybe it was my error, maybe it was a communications error, maybe a bug.... regardless... I have never had a problem if I saved on the hardware.
jmccall405
I have the same issue whether it's through the editor or on hardware. It is happening directly after updating to the most recent software today. I havent tried a factory reset.

Hi, As we haven’t heard from the OP since being advised to do a reset 2 months ago, I would hazard a guess that the reset must have worked. You will never know until you try. Either way, let us know how it goes. It may help others in the same situation. Hope this helps/makes sense.
gazzaf63
I have the same issue. hardware and software both at 3.11 chenges to presets do not save either from. Hardware or hx edit. have restarted and reset hardware and computer numerous times, have reset to factory defaults. nothing saves save options come up as expected and it appears to save but switching to next preset then switching back changes have not saved, same behaviour on completely new preset and existing presets. hx stomp is now a pretty coloured brick. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but are you sure you’re saving presets properly? I haven’t seen this come up anywhere else that I recall. Anyway, if you’re sure you are, open up a support ticket.
gazzaf63
@phil_m Thanks for your message and responding so quickly as it caused me to take a fresh swing at this. I am sure I am doing it correctly and I was going to make a quick video of the process to prove that when I noticed something... Starting a preset from fresh on the hardware and starting a preset from fresh on a different computer (mojave 10.14.6) using hx edit 2.92 worked perfectly (in both cases). However my two test presets (started on my macbook (catalina10.15.7) using hx edit 2.90) will not save once edited - in any environment. I am thinking that creating the presets on catalina or on edit 2.9 somehow corrupted them. When I get time I might sanity check this and see if it holds water. p.s. I realise i stated i was on latest version of hx edit (3.1) I thought that i was! I ran the hx edit updater and it seemed to all work correctly - obviously not. So, after checking my theory I'll update everything and hopefully I'll be back in business! Cheers
gazzaf63
Follow up on this. I recreated the process from yesterday. I chose an empty preset e.g. 35 A and added a a couple of effects and and an amp/cab model - worked perfectly. Can edit and save on hard ware and software. Re named the preset to xxx and saved also works perfectly in hardware and software. Last hing I remember doing yesterday was rearranging blocks order... I dragged the blocks in software interface into a different order e.g dragged amp before an effect. After saving the preset is now empty - no blocks and seems corrupted i.e. I cannot edit the preset at all i.e. add effects back and save - the effects go in OK and make sounds but as soon as you save then switch to a different preset and switch back the preset is empty. It is related to dragging blocks - I just tried it on a preset that comes with the hardware key:gritz - dragging blocks to re order in the software then save. switch to next preset and then back again: key gritz preset is now empty of blocks and impossible to repair . Not sure if anyone here can try this for themselves and see if it looks like a bug ?

Then follow the update alert in HX Edit to update to the 3.11 firmware from HX Edit before you do any further troubleshooting. Update your HX Edit version and the firmware, do the global/factory reset, restore of your backup, and wait for your presets to rebuild after the first restart. In other words, follow the update release instructions carefully. Now check the 'Help' --> 'About HX Edit' dialog box in HX Edit and ensure it is displaying HX Edit 3.10 and 3.11 for the firmware. Now you can begin troubleshooting again. Until you have executed these updates I think that currently you cannot rule out some sort of version mismatch. It is generally a waste of time to troubleshoot an old version of the software/firmware without a compelling reason to have stayed on it.
guero12
I was having this issue. I was using an older version on the HX EDIT SOFTWARE, while the firmware on the HX STOMP was 3.11. I downloaded the newest version of HX EDIT SOFTWARE and that fixed it.
