realtwang
I am having an issue saving my output level on a preset on the Helix. I’ve got the latest firmware 3.0.1. After adjusting the output level on the final output block (the circle with the right arrow in path 2), I save the preset by pressing Save twice. Then I switch presets, and return to my newly saved preset. Now the output volume is right back where it was before! I even tried renaming it, and still have the issue. Am I missing something here? All my presets have different output volumes, so I’m not understanding why this preset will not overwrite this parameter.

If its only the one patch that's misbehaving, it's likely that it just got corrupted. It happens...particularly if it's one you've had for a while that's been edited and saved a million times, and/or copied and pasted into other slots, which seems to cause problems sometimes. Less likely but still possible, is that you've discovered a bug... that some chance combination of settings you stumbled upon is causing the output block to $hit the bed. In that case, there would be little to nothing you can do about it. Either way, you basically have two choices... 1) Restore a backup and see if an older saved version exhibits the same behavior, or 2) Just rebuild it block by block in an empty slot... don't copy and paste the blocks, as you don't really know what's causing it. In my experience this is the path of least resistance... annoying and time consuming, but it generally solves the problem.
themetallikid
is it possible its attached to some other controller? and its being recalled to a different status upon being reloaded? Just a thought....probably too much whiskey tonight, ha!
DunedinDragon
I can't say I've ever experienced this, but then I rarely ever adjust my output block and prefer to adjust my volume using the channel volume of the amp model. That being said, were I to run into the problem my first reaction would be to set the output level, save the preset, then export the preset to a file, then import it and see if it stays changed. snowgoose50
It's an old thread, but I just ended up here with the same problem, but using Helix Edit 3.71. I found that the change in volume wouldn't be saved when using EXP Pedal 1 to control output volume if I changed the maximum volume while on the EDIT tab for the Output. However it WAS saved if I went to the BYPASS/CONTROLLER ASSIGN tab, selected Output Level for EXP Pedal 1 (which has separate sliders for Min Level and Max Level) and changed the Max Level there. Then, if you set the volume that you want in the "Max level" of the EXP Pedal 1, does it mean that you need to keep the pedal down all the time (at the max level) ? I tried setting the same volume level both in the EDIT tab for the output and in the "Min level" of the pedal in the BYPASS/CONTROLLER ASSIGN tab and the problem remains: the level is not kept when switching to another preset and then going back. Check Global Settings > EXP Pedals. It determines whether each expression pedal position is recalled per snapshot, per preset, or applied globally. If you want a Volume Pedal or Wah to maintain its position when switching presets, set this to “Global.”

What I did is to set the volume that I want in the "Min level" of the pedal in the BYPASS/CONTROLLER ASSIGN tab (for the "Max Level" I always choose +20) and then press the pedal all the way to the max and then back all the way to the min. By doing this the volume level that I set in the "Min level" in the BYPASS/CONTROLLER ASSIGN tab gets copied to the "Level" in the EDIT tab for the output. I do not understand what is going on, but it works. Thanks Line6 community people !!
