Importing a Helix Rack preset on the Stomp

Hi all,

I would really like to put this patch in this video onto my Stomp, but it was created for the Helix Rack. I cannot import it using HX Edit as there's not enough DSP on the Stomp. Is there any way I can edit or modify it somehow, to remove some blocks so that it works on the Stomp?

Thanks

Hi,

Short answer - No.

Both of the supplied presets contain dual paths with an amp and cab in each, plus a whole bunch of other dynamics and EQ stuff. My guess is it would be possible to strip out the second path, but it would possibly detrimental to the overall sound, which is what you are chasing. See pic.

I’m not in the studio until tomorrow (it’s midnight here), and I haven’t been able to to check out the 2 presets in my Helix to see how much the tone changes when you switch off one path. Although I did discover today in another post on here there is a web site that will allow you to view various Preset files to see how they built. Check it out here (it's where the screen grab above came from):

https://hxview.netlify.app

Load up the Dingwall.hlx files and view them for yourself, and then if you think you may be able to cope with the single top path, report back and when I get into the studio tomorrow I can strip out the extra blocks. No guarantee that it will be acceptable, but worth a shot.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

While a very manual approach, the easiest way I've found to take parts of complex presets I like and make a Stomp version is to load the file into this site then flick between the web browser and HX Edit and make the preset

You'll get quicker at it the more you do it (or if you're job is to flick between multiple spreadsheets or coding windows it'l be a doddle)

Thanks all for the great replies!

Out of all 3 of these, I found the middle link the easiest to follow. I tried making both paths separately but neither of them sounded anything like the Youtube clip. Never mind!

Looking at the presets in the viewer you're going to be missing the dual amp/cab blend as one is running "dirty" with the drive block and the other is "clean". It's shame you couldn't get something you liked the sound of out of it

Couldn't actually load the middle link? The third one works fine but wanting to try the middle link and it sends me to this page:
