SweetTart61
Hello All. I recently upgraded to 3.5 on my main Win10 laptop. I moved to my backup laptop, HP Envy, on which it worked fine in the past and it won't open. I uninstalled all the Line 6 software and the HX drivers, rebooted, download HX Edit again, rebooted and it still won't open. Click on the executable in Win Start menu and nothing happens at all. Seems like this is the day that all computers hate me, but this just doesn't make sense. I've used the HX on the main laptop with the Stomp off and the Edit app will open and just won't connect to the Stomp, fwiw. Any ideas? rd2rk
If your HXS is at 3.50, make sure your HX Edit is 3.50. Turn the HXS ON.
MusicLaw
@SweetTarty61be sure that all of the Line 6 software is removed from the problematic laptop! You may need to use the Windows Removal Tool, if the Control Panel method fails to accomplish a thorough Uninstall of the Line 6 software. Hi, You mentioned that you have moved to a different laptop, which immediately made me think that you may have fallen foul of the dreaded SD Card syndrome. I used the Win uninstall tools to remove the app before reinstalling with a new software download. I will try using Revo Uninstaller to get all the remnants and reinstall again. rd2rk
Maybe it's time to reinstall Windows. Sometimes a clean start is what it takes. Don't forget to find and back up anything you don't want to lose.
MusicLaw
@SweetTart61, before you attempt the far more invasive reinstallation of your entire OS, consider downloading to your local hard drive entirely clean copies of each of the Line 6 software and firmware for your devices (HX Edit, Firmware for each device, Helix Native if you use it, etc.) and using Line 6 Updater ver 1.27 (most recent version released a few weeks ago) to install all the firmware and software from the local copies just downloaded to your hard drive. If still no good, you'll have to consider your OS or Win 10 laptop may be the issue.

If you managed to get to the third page of the link in datacommando's reply, you would have seen my comment. HX Edit appearing not to open is exactly the SD card problem. I'm not saying it's your problem but it sure sounds that way. It was/is a problem for HX Edit, Helix Native and Pod Go Edit. It has to do with reading your hard drive serial number. (It's used as part of the security) The software starts but you never see the interface because it crashes before showing anything. Whoever wrote the serial number code didn't account for the possibility of not having one and ignored the API return code.

Hi, Thanks for clarifying that, as my post must have been linked back to the comment from "CamelotOne", who I believe was the first person to discover that the SD Card was causing the issue. Your link goes straight to your post (Sept 21st 2020) with your explanation and details of how to fix it. Excellent, let's hope it solves it for the OP. rd2rk
There's at least 3 problems here: The Native won't open SD card problem The no SD card but won't open problem - fixed (AFAIK - worked for me) by a recent change on the L6 end The UI glitch - performing certain actions - moving a block, moving a slider on the new Cab Block, maybe others - crashes Reaper The UI glitch was brought up in another thread and I was able to confirm. Hopefully, they opened a support ticket.
